Give us a bit to DL/UL, patch, etc, etc and we'll put up a post as soon as this has been finished.

Working on it now..

Cheers,

Update: This is scheduled to be on the servers tomorrow so there's time to get the word out and for players to d/l the patch to minimize any impact. Stay tuned....

Here is the best part of the notes for me:

Some interesting ramifications there.

Apparently the dedi server patch isn't out yet, or something? Looks like I'll have to wait until the server patch gets released since I already installed mine. They said you can't roll back this patch, and you have to uninstall/install it again if you want 1.02. This should give me some time to actually work, lol.

There are 3 ways to run an ArmA2 server:

1. Click the New button in-game. You can create your own LAN or Internet server. This does not run with FireDaemon and wont reboot by itself, and so on, when there are issues. Must be tended by a human....:)

2. Launch a dedicated server program. This is what we do right now as far as I know. Most ded. server packages do not run the game, they call up the basic game files required to allow the players to connect and interact without having to load the full game or have a video card installed on the server box. FireDaemon can monitor this and reboot as required.

3. Start the game using the -server switch. You can modify your ArmA2 icon target line to launch a server:

C:\Program Files\Bohemia\ArmA2\arma2.exe -nosplash;-mod=@mod_here;-server

This starts the full game and functions as a full-fledged server. Pretty sure this mode can be managed by FireDaemon. However, since this is running the full game it may require a video card be installed on the server since the game is basically runnning the same way it would on your PC at home.

This mode, in general, uses up a lot more server resources and may not allow as many players to connect reliably.

So.. we can wait for the upgraded Dedicated Server package.. or, we can update the server box with the 1.03 patch and run it using a -server switch until the 1.03 dedicated server is released, but this may in fact not be possible if our gaming server is a standard server box without a video card installed on it.

Disclaimer: Me not expert. Me know from old days. Fire Good.

After the 1.03 patch was installed on the UK servers I experienced what I can only describe as screen-freeze. It wasn't a total lock up, rather every so often, the screen would freeze, maybe only for a second or two and then would come back to life in exactly the same position. So very different to the traditional lag I've experienced where you end up jumping from one point to another.

Did anyone else on the server experience this, or is it just me and co-incidental to the 1.03 update?

CBA mod and other mods/addons, have already been reported as the main issue. I would suggest running vanilla until mods have been adapted.

Played last night for 2 hours with 6 of us playing various missions, no issues at all, no mods or addons used all round. Game ran better than ever.

Played on Sparta server later on, also had screen freezes right from the start, but not as much as most others where reporting.

@DaiSan

If you have used object ID`s at all in your mission, you will need to check them again. This also screws up custom missions from functioning.

I have no mods or addons running, still "vanilla", as you'd say. Or are you referring to server mods / addons?

Any person joining the server, using any mods that are now having issues because of 1.3 patch, will cause global issues on that server.

Here is 1 popular mod fixed to start:

CBA Mod Update

So the server can be vanilla, plus so can you, but anyone joining with said mods / addons, will cause probs.
