A petition for the Brits....

Recommended Posts

Yes mate that's my little contribution, it's been a big topic amongst a lot of us ex and serving servicemen and I posted a link in a private military forum over on another site but Pave over at GR.Net said he would bump it in there as well.

This is the original post in one of our "informal" military forums over here..

I think all of us have alot of compassion for this subject.

Can your foreign friends & brothers sign this petition? It appeared that British Citizens only should sign. If we, your foreign friends & brothers can help in some way, pls let us know.

Unfortunately, only British citizens can sign because it asks for a legitimate address. However, as US Citizens, those of us that either remember or have studied the Vietnam war especially the end and home-comings for thousands of American Soldiers, can contribute to this cause by writing our own Governors and Congressmen, expressing our feelings about the situation. It may seem like a long shot, but when these guys are standing at the Capital Building's water cooler BSing and one mentions it, it may spark a shit storm. Who knows?

Anyways, I hate seeing this obvious slap in the face towards British servicemen. Even the Air Transports that return the fallen to the US have a fighter escort.

Good luck in your efforts.

Thanks guys, this has always been an issue over here and maybe by drawing attention to it with the petition it may get eventually resolved.

Let's hope that we don't have too many more people we have to "welcome home" in this manner..

I actually live right beside a stretch of the Highway for Heroes mentioned in the article on the GR.net page. It is a pretty big deal here, as it should be. The biggest highway in the city is closed for them, and there are people standing on top of every single bridge the procession passes, regardless of weather or anything. Its the very least we can do for them seeing as the sacrifices they make for us.

Im proud to say that my area gives the armed forces the respect they deserve and am glad to see that the Brits and everyone else are trying to make it so that all of our armed forces are give the respect they truely deserve.
