Need new system

Recommended Posts

System still fully crashed, but Graphics card and Hard disks are still working.

I'm in need of:

-case

-motherboard

-processor

-ram

-power supply (Around 500 Watts)

Any1 who is willing to sell one/more of the above, which isn't being used anymore?

I'm (still) living on an extremely low budget, that's why I'm considering buying these second-handed.

I'd like to improve current system, but don't want to spend more than Euro 300 on this.

Sofar, This is what I was thinking of sofar:

case: around 40 euros

processor: Intel Core2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz 6MB Boxed (at Eur 160 at forcom.be)

power supply: 50 euros

ram: 2GB for 40 euros

-mother board: not more than 50 euros (simple, I don't overclock anything)

anyway, any set-up that wouldn't pass 300 euros would help as well.

thanks

Viiiper,

Thanks for your ideas ... Here's what I got sofar:

Motherboard: P5K-VM ( http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmen...l3=542&l4=0 )

Processor: Intel Core2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz 6MB Boxed

What I still need:

-power supply

-case

-memory

About the power supply, do I need at least 400W or at least 450W?

Graphics card will remain the same old one: X1800XL until at least the end of the year.

Plan to install 1 sata drive and an old IDE one, generally using 5 usb-slots (keyboard, mouse, webcam, joystick+trackir / or / external hdd).

memory will be simple 2GB DDR2, case I'm still looking for ... I think they are WAAAY to expensive for metal scrap.

Thanks again for comments.

Is it worth the difference?

DDR2 1000 vs DDR3 1800 combining Mobo and memory difference $300 Asus prefered.

9800GTX vs 9800GX2 difference $240. BFG prefered.

Buying 9800GTX SLI is $50 MORE than one 9800 GX2.

It takes 9800GTX SLI to come close to ONE 9800 GX2.

E67500 Core Duo vs Q6600 Quad-core. Difference $50.

Problem is I need to upgrade all in one big purchase. (Taz does not understand buying PC parts to upgrade slowy). I use to buy exspensive Mobo, low end v-card, memory and cpu. Then as I got extra money and prices drop, upgrade each piece as I went along slowy improving my pc.

My old mobo I am on is over 5yrs old, Taz's is older than that. Both pc's are maxed on cpu's, but not v-card. still using agp v-cards.

Thanks for all replies.
