The video below is shot from an 18 wheeler traveling down a state highway.... a car approaches from the left on a county road crossing the highway... well just watch. Zathrus~SPARTA~ Posted June 10, 2017 Author Share Posted June 10, 2017 One thing that is interesting is some folks on Youtube are exclaiming "OMG! this truck driver did not even try to miss him" They seem to want to complain that the trucker did not try to miss this idiot.This is folks who do not understand physics. You have roughly 60,000 plus pounds rolling down the highway at 60 to 65mph.By the time this truck driver realized that car was not going to stop at that stop sign, all he could do was take his foot of the throttle, start braking and hold on trying to keep it straight. The truck is going to continue on for the next few seconds not really reacting at all because he is chewing up momentum.A fully loaded semi is similar to a train in that even if the driver tries to "panic stop" it is going to take several 100 feet to stop. It took less than 1 second for the car to travel the distance from the stop sign on the left to out of frame on the right.The truck would not even be decelerating in a detectable manner yet.In addition he dare not swerve, because if he gets the trailer going a different direction than his tractor it is all over.
