One thing that would concern me on something like a "mars mission", is it appears to me, that while this is a very interesting tread design, I think those rollers on the ends of the tread have to roll... in order for this to work properly. I am unsure it is possible to keep steel ball bearings rolling in sand & dust combined with huge temperature swings from night to day. It just seems like a recipe for failure to me.
