I bought TOH in a steam sale and tried it today.

I bought it because I heard that Arma III will adopt the flight physics from TOH.

The physics are similar to Arma but with much more sensitivity. Ground effect makes a fast landing more complicated than the current arma model and I imagine we will lose more than a few squads to accidents.

But a more challenging flight model will encourage specialisation and that is a good thing for the "Airheads" amongst us. I want to improve my TOH flight skills but in Arma III I will gladly defer to more skilled players As I have always done.

Thats gonna be a very....very short server pilot-list lol

Because of Batavian Belgae diplomatic relations i shall not comment on the underlined parts of Zeno's post lol

yeah the flight controls for TOH has a large curve been crashing my choppers a lot, I don't think this will be good or unless they have the option for simple controls . we really don't need complicated flight control just

control over airheads.

I'm getting some sort of conflict, not always maybe 1 in 3, it seems to get stuck in auto startup and if I esc out I can see the on screen options flickering as if the keyboard is sticking between the options.

Checking all my inputs, none appear to be sticking and only exiting the game completely & going back in fixes it.

On top of all that, it's bloody hard work .

ive been playing this a bit today, I think I need to calibrate my controller or something menus are all flicker like im constantly scrolling, and flying im going to have to get used it. music's quite odd rather pumping for just flying in a strait line lol

I've had this in arma 2 ...too.....i cant remember what the solution was though >.> ....well i just quit using my stick.

i think gunny's talking about arma 3 flight model not TOH.

yep I like Simple controls mouse, key I'm not even going to try and be a real pilot, if Arma 3 has the simple flight option I'll be happy to pilot

Just put in 2 hours using my x-box controller and found it surprisingly easier to fly than expected. Not experienced the 'flickering menus' this time but have made no changes, so still confused.

The single player is a little tedious but gives you practise time.

Anything above normal level is way harder and all I seem to do is crash! But, it's proving to be manageable, whether I feel capable of flying in Arma 3 is a different story and I'll need way more flying hours to be ready for that.

just use the ARMA III EDITOR for practice there ...

if u respect what the chopper can doo u will be alright ( soon )v (banking is harder then arma 2)

Ebe thankyou but from what I can see the Alpha and Beta have not used the physics from TOH, so far its, as you indicated, pretty much the same physics as Arma II OA. It could be that I was misinformed and they will not implement the TOH physics at all in Arma III.

But if they do change the physics and they use Trainee or Expert, there will be a lot of breakage on landing in trainee or death and destruction in expert. If there is only one parameter for skill, people who enjoy veteran will have to contend with:

Use of actual instruments (no virtual overly).

Constant adjustment of the tail rotor.

Constant cyclic input to stop the chopper falling over.

So I hope they do bring in the TOH physics, where people who can really fly in game will be specialists and not just enthusiastic amateurs.

you know i am one of the best crashing pilots there is .. (but at least i try)

But indeed Zeno if they implement the real skill feel ect.. woud be awesome

( hmm more practice i still have mm yes yes ..... yoda)

little joke ;

Belgiums are like manure ,

if u put them on a pile all together they smell ..

but if you spread them around enough they make the ground very Fertile..
