Other smaller updates here and there. New cover page, introduction, layout? well, a bunch of new stuff ! http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.as...threadID=434899 Why you have to be ready when mining 0.0 SPACE IMPORTANT Q & A http://www.evegathering.com/mine.htm Do mining lasers have a optimal range for getting ore faster? The distance from the asteroid while using laser miners does not affect how fast or how much ore you get.It is the same no matter what distance when using Mining lasers. The optimal distance, listed on the mining lasers show info, is how close you have to before the laser will engage and work. Why are some asteroid belts empty or seem like they are? Asteroid belts can be stripped mined and cleaned out or basically "over mined" and appear empty: Look close though and you should see some some tiny asteroids. How often do asteroid belts re-spawn Asteroid Belts re spawn nightly at maintenance. It is not some big jump either and huge rocks appear in space. If the asteroids are completely mined to nonexistence (the asteroid is gone) it could take up to 3-4 days to even see a pebble appear back. Depleting valuable ore (popping the asteroid) in deep space is not a wise thing....if you wish to keep mining the same asteroids very long of a rare ore. But if the asteroid is not depleted it will grow a little each maintenance instead of waiting a few days to even see ore come back yet mine it. There are some VERY LARGE veldspar asteroids out there! How do mining drones work basically for mining? Obtain a mining drone. While in dock put it into your DRONE bay (not your cargo bay). Once you have a mining drone in your cargo bay undock and go to any mining asteroid belt. Target any asteroid you wish to mine. Open your drone bay by expanding out the drone bay menu at the BOTTOM of your overview. Right click "Drones in bay" and choose "launch drones". Once you have launched a drone ( or 3 ) right click the drone and choose "mine repeatedly". You should then see the drone orbiting the asteroid you have targeted. Remember to make sure your in range also as mining drones do have range limitations. After the drone mines for a bit (about 30 sec's) he will return ore to your cargo hold and be off to repeat this cycle. How many differant types of BASIC mining lasers are there? 1. Civilian Mining Lasers - Very low yields - Use anything but this - Given out freely on starter ship. 2. Miner Tech Level 1 - Average yields 3. Named Miner Tech 1 - Average yields with slightly lower fitting requirements 4. Miner Tech Level 2 - Very good yields 5. Deep Core Miner - Used Exclusively to mine "Mercoxite" 6. Ice Miners - Used exclusively to mine Ice Should I just sell the ore or refine it and sell the minerals? Until you have worked on "Industry - Refining" skills, it is best to sell the ore. You will actually be loosing ISK if you sell minerals from ore before at least getting refining skill level three and really it should be at a minimum of level four. Do a little math and you will see it....refine 500 of any ore, and then sell the minerals or check price, and then just sell 500 ore without refining ore and check the price. You can get more for the raw ore, then you can the minerals you get back from refining, because of poor refining skills. Players whom have good refining skills will buy your ore ALL day. Until you have a some refining skills sell your ore out right early on.

MedicSN6
In the words of Maj3stic, "YAR!" This is really nice. How much of it involves single operator mining, like what we are currently doing? This manual does seem like it is geared towards the mass mining operations and high level players.
MUTILATER
Mining benefits when you work as a group either small or large. Some of us are going to be mining in lowsec and this will not appeal to most however luck can have its advantages. ( I'm even better off as most Eve players are snoozing when i am awake) This will aid me to get into the low sec areas and tank hard against rats for a while, reaping the benefits. There is money to be made in 0.6 and above just you need to have your refinery skills down pat. I do suggest one person in the group concentrate on refining skills to maxemise profit. Just don't do the old thing and jump in way above your head with a ship that is like a grenade when hit. Think safety first and consider how your going to transport this ore. I do suggest you work in groups of 3 while learning, your refinery guy also skills up for jetcaning. Anyway ... guess you will work it out hey
NoScream~SPARTA~
Maybe we can arrange a day trip out? One day when we are all on , we goto 0.3 space and mine and the others could fend off rats and explore the area for stations, prices and resources. Good try to move a fleet of 7+ we could also do some armour & shield testing like MUT, suggested where we drop an item etc.
MedicSN6
A very cool online only tool is at this website: http://www.fluidorbit.co.uk/ Type in the system name and then click the name of the system in the results. It will display the asteroids in the system and the ores the system contains. This is a very good tool to use in conjunction with the system maps. Print the page for the system you are using and then search away. The best way i see to use these is to just search on the system name near you till you find one that has the ore you want to mine. OR click the ore you want to mine and then a list will come up of the systems that have belts that contain it. Have fun searching. Also, this excel worksheet and calculator is very nice:Download the Workbook Wow, I was amazed at the worksheet and then I looked down at the bottom where the worksheet tabs are and there is soooo much more! This is worth the DL. Edited January 13, 2008 by Medic~SPARTA~

MedicSN6
This JPG shows the distribution of certain ores over each security space and space by individual race. Essentially, its shows where you have to go to find that ore. http://www.eve-files.com/media/corp/WLDs/roid_grid.jpg
