  1. Does anyone else get paid way to much to do very little. Do you sit there at your computer all day at work surfing the web hopeing that something happens just to break the boredom?
  2. Don't think he was complaining he seems to just be stating his frustration with the game makers deciding to cookie cut games now days instead of inovating. Lightspeed I just so happen to be one of those who enjoys both sides of the fence however be thankful you got BF3 that requires a bit more teamplay than the COD series.
  3. Ok on this I think we can all agree. I would make one tweak and make that respawn only on conquest maps due to the team balancing issues we have been seeing. If you have long respawns on the defenders and they are outnumbered by say one or two people it can mean a loss when the extra 5-8 sec would have allowed them to put up a great defense. I think 12-15 sec would be about perfect. As for the hardcore settings, I have not seen that the standard game really takes that many rounds to kill people since they are all wearing body armor. Harcore seems to increase the killing power of sniper's more than anything which will encourge a more campy style game instead of a CQB pwnfest.
  4. From my understanding behind the crouch only COD servers was that it was due to the lightweight kits along with the various other perks when combined would allow someone to run and insane speeds and kill people very quickly. Getting 30 kills with a knife is not a great idea when building a FPS. Here in BF3 the speed of people moving is very much spot on to real life so why should we restrict the ability of people to move from point to point quickly and force them into moving slowly across open ground which really kind of takes away from the tactical gameplay. To me playing tactically means you play as if you would in a real world mission and I have yet to see CNN footage of insurgents fighting American soldiers and everyone was crouched down moving across an open area or even inside of buildings. Crouch only servers were amazing for COD and really helped the gameplay on that type of game. Here on BF3 I truely do not feel that it is really warrented to make this restriction as you gain very little in the way of tactical gameplay yet you limit people quite a bit. We as a community know what is and isn't tactical because most of us have played Arma and been punished by the AI for not doing so. I think that we can police ourselves rather than have people forced to do something they really don't want. I personnally will not be playing crouch only and if it does become a requirement on the Sparta servers then in the intrests of remaining on good terms with each of you I will refrain from playing on those servers. However the infantry only style or limited vehicles is a fantastic idea I think that would truely draw a following among the BF3 community and help us find our place in this crazy game. I hate to beat the dead horse here but Tactical gameplay is a mindset not a set of rules, you restrict people and you restrict their fun you provide an enviroment tailored to your play requirements with codes of conduct then everything will fall into place.
  5. As far as the 3d spotting you guys are aware that if your spotted then move behind cover you dissappear from view unless someone can actually see you. I spot people all the time on other servers and when they dissapear from my view they vanish on my 3d spotting until they come back into view. In regards to the restriction of play styles in order to conform to the hardcore tactical player. We as a community cannot keep that server populated at all hours of the day, if we want a populated server that we can log onto and play at any time then restricting the heck out of it may be to our detriment. I am all for more tactical play and seperating comms into teams and even as far as into individual squads with squad leaders on whisper to each other. That being said, this is not ARMA this is BF3 and a more tactical setup in this game, at least to me, limits the game and reduces the fun level of the overall experience. If we limited this to a tactical game play then maps would take 3 hours to complete with half the team playing recon and snipeing from a hill, just like what happens in Arma. The balance we need is to dicipline up the comms and set the server up in a more tactical manner then pick some of the more annoying habits (C-4 on a vehicle then drive it into something and boom)and spawn camping illegal then let people play the game. There was talk of a crouch only rule on our servers which is a great idea on the small maps but walking 2 km crouched will kill the experience instead just limit the sprit upgrade or something like that where you limit people to a normal attainable speed instead of outright killing their ability to fire and manuver. BF3 is a very realistic game already and restricting it excessivly will not help the experince for everyone in our community. The balance is finding that point where the hardcore and run and gun crowd meet. Last night we had a great time after a minor issue with a map setup allowing defenders to kill people right at the spawn. All it took was one quick word about it and the practice ceased. We are a community and we all care about each others play experience instead of creating these all binding rules and bannable offenses just speak up and say something then we will discuss it as a community and decide the action. We are Sparta not I am a Spartan.
  6. We shall see how long that happieness lasts in the Tiger.
  7. Well Tears will take a bit more tweaking to get the hostage to work correctly but I think I have an idea on the solution. Mosque has yet to be touched so I need to take a look at it and see what I need to tweak on it. As for the other mission I may have it fixed but I will need to do some editor testing before we try it again. I should be able to knock alot of this out after work but mosque will take a while. I will be on TS later and let you guys know where I am on everything.
  8. Ok since everyone seemed to enjoy the Tears of a Noob mission I have been racking my brain over a new idea while I have been killing the bugs in that mission. How would you guys like to see a similar mission to the Battle of Ia Drang Valley? It will use period weapons and will be as close to the actual events as arma will allow. This one will be massive and will take a bit of time to do, if you want to get better at making missions and maybe help a little I will not argue with assitance. Let me know if you guys like the idea or not.
  9. There was some discussion last week about the new Tears of a Noob mission. It was suggested that we film a running of this mission and see how we can get it to turn out. I will work on the two bugs that are still in the mission this week and attempt to iron them out for a good filming however my computer will not handle hosting and filming. If anyone would like to step up and do the filming for this I will be more than happy to add in the filming script to make it easy for them. For this filming we may also do the Mosque mission so if you guys are up to it then we can blast through both of them fairly quickly with 6 to 10 people. Please let me know if you guys don?t want to do this, but if you do speak up and we will schedule a time on a weekend to sit down and knock this out.
  10. Looks good and it accomplished the goals they had when they were filming. Just never saw a credit's showing it was Sparta that did it but overall something we can be proud of.
  11. Episode 3 of PC Gamer Digital featuring many Sparta guys has been released on Steam.
  12. My problem with BF3 is the perception that anything has changed. BF1942 had the exact same structure of game play with the best graphics and physics around at the time. Since then very little has changed in the series, except for 2142 which in my opinion moved the game away from the comfortable setting and actually advanced the game play a little. Today you have 4 classes which are almost identical as the ones that were there in the first game. The only thing that has changed to me from BFBC2 is the graphics, ragdoll physics, the ability to go prone, and the increase in destructible environment. To me this is like putting a $5000 paint job on a Gremlin, yea it looks frigging awsome but undernieth that its still a turd on wheels. Other than these things it plays almost the same as BC2 with the same issues. Gaming has stagnated to a rehash of the same tired game play with pretty new graphics there has been very little if any advancement in FPS game play since COD MW1. In that time we have seen game prices go up $10, paying for additional content at rediculous prices, reduction in replay value, twitch gaming moving to the front ahead of strategy, and games constantly get dumbed down to appeal to the console player base which has diminished the PC FPS player to the level of a caveman with a stick. I own a console and use it to play sports games and others that are best played on that type of product. The FPS crowd on the console have really, in my opinion, killed the FPS market on PC if you require an auto aim in order to kill someone then you need to reevaluate your game. While BF3 is going to be a really good game it is still the same tired play as the rest of the FPS market, the only FPS that will change this stance in the future will be Arma 3. I decided about 15 minutes into the BF3 beta that I will not spend my money on this game as I can find many different uses for 60 bucks than to beat my head against a wall, the random moments of fun do not outweigh the grind of annoyance.
  13. Nope it is my upgrade time, I usually upgrade my comp every couple of years. I never spend less than 1500 on a CPU this one will set me back about 2400.
  14. When is the x60 coming out? I won't build this until Febuary or March.

    ROACH

Are you trying to avoid playing this mission you cried so much for me to make? Me Karl and Tyler are playing it and your no where to be seen.
  20. Kind of, except its in Arma 2 and has guns. Oh and it has nothing to do with minecraft, but other than that yes it is a minecraft mission
  21. Since certain people (Roach) keep pestering me about Tears of the Sun mission I finally sat down and went through the initial build of the mission. I have been working on it for about a week now trying to get all of the various bugs nailed down and am ready for an initial run through. I can provide a link below as soon as I get home tonight for the two mods you will need. In order to make it close to the movie I am using a navy seal mod and an F-18 mod it is about 250mb. Overall outline is a little different from the movie but should have the same feel. 1. Insertion: Land a helo at the prearranged LZ and collect your gear from the airdropped ammo crates. 2. Move to the research station and rescue Dr. Bignutz. 3. Escort Dr. Bignutz to the primary LZ for extract. 4. If needed continue with Dr. Bignutz to secondary extrat by boat on the coast. I will not give too much away but sufficient to say it?s a normal mission of mine so there will be plenty to shoot at and plenty that will shoot back. I will be online tonight to play through it a little with a couple of folks. Please come if you can mission is built for 6 people.
  22. Tears of the noob is a go. First draft complete.
