  1. wow, the more I dig this site, the more I like it.. I really hope will survive all the crap about airing rights, properties etc. For sure some network will be pissed, but I really hope will stay long on the web !
  2. ... and just to close the deal about this subject, read this interesting review: http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-5970-review-test/1 There is nothing 480 or 460 new cards can do about that. Due to the failed manufacturing process they will never be able to put 2 of their big chips on one card and they will not be able to match this card. I hope 480 and 460 will bring the supposed flection on prices so to invite ATI to lower down a bit the 5970 price...
  3. Wow, After reading that very interesting article (Thx Viiper), I have to say this: I am not an engeneer and many explanation were sounding a bit Egiptian to me, but I do understand quite a bit of marketing and price and products politics. The only thing i can come with is, if is true Fermi is having this massive amount of production problems, i only see this situation: Nvidia is having a huge investment out there which most probably will reflect in a huge loss. To not loose everything they are making a massive marketing operation to push this "flop" on the market, probably sold under production price, just to try to get some money back from the "Nvidia lovers". Most probably the few chip sold will have serious working problems, running from excessive heat to excessive power draining. Both of these parameter are Nightmares for hardcore gamers. No one wants to have too much heat inside the box or running issues with the PSU. To not speak that both these limits lock any chance of overclocking for obvious reasons. As a result, I would never buy a Fermi card as soon as out on the shelves. i would wait a couple of months to see how the reviews are, and most importantly the reviews from the "braves" early buyers, to see what's the RMA ratio is. Then, i would look for any good reason to drain blood from my wallet toward a Fermi and not toward an Hamlock 5970, actually working like a charm. Nvidia lost his "crown" of market videocard master 1 year and something ago in my opinion, when after the 3800 and 4800 series ATI gave to the market great quality at very affordable prices. I still remember when Nvidia dropped huge price on their "top line" cards to keep competitivity on the market. Well, there were 2 answers to that move: either Nvidia had been milking his customers for long time because there was not another viable high quality counterpart on the market, so they were able just to ask whatever, OR understanding the solid incoming of ATI with valid hardware, they had a very bad production chain and had to get a loss of profict anyway to "stay on the wave" Either one, Nvidia lost domination at that moment and their management never went to right direction to recover, and today sounds like Fermi is just a desperate marketing operation to try to revamp some fire.... However, good news is... once again as i said earlier.. so far they fight for their life, we get better prices !!.. and i honestly hope Nvidia regain some credibility, because I don t want to flip the market with ATI going to be like the previous Nvidia version ;)
  4. The answer is Yes and No. If you want "split" the audio source, having the game audio on speakers and voices from TS on headset, I do not think it could be done. It looks like a Mixer matter and i do not think any card mixer can split the 2 sources. If u want have audio (voices and game) on speakers and have ure Mic on headset activated, that is pretty simple. In Windows audio config (Win 7), be sure u select Speakers as Default. U will have sound from speakers and voice from ure headset Mic. To go back, switch back to Headphone Default. If u have a different OS and u are using proprietary software to set ure sound card, be sure the option "mute speakers when headset detected" is not active and u should have sound from speakers also if ure headset is connected, allowing u to use the mic but listening from ure speakers. I hope this helped. Configs on OS before 7 can be more tricky, but it can be absolutely done.
  5. @ Fatal, Sorry to hear about ure bad experience with the 5870, but did you thought it could be a failed card? In general, any review you find around put that card on the top performers and with drives coming out from ATI every month (around the 15 on every month, steady schedule), you should just try and find the driver that better fit. If it really doesn t work, i would return the card, but I would not blame the model itself. Furthermore, if your native resolution is around 1920*1080 or 1920*1200, any card with 1 GB would perform great on you. If you really look for a monster card, you should look here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....ion=hd+5970+2gb But I would never buy now, because when Fermi will be out, the 5970 price will really change to match the new Fermi out, then you just have to choose. 5970 it is just the "Monster" at this moment, considering the Eyefinity option too, but hey... if you don t have to span HD on 3 huge monitors, you don't really need that monster...
  6. Cy, Forget about the 5750. It has a data bus at 128 bit which will choke any potentially good performance. You have to ALWAYS be on at least a data bus of 256 or above. And around that price consider a Very Solid 4870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....amp;Order=PRICE I have ATI since forever and some time ago I could agree with you about driver issues, but that is story of the past. Actually ATI hugely improved their drivers and are working great especially on newst products (4000 and 5000 series) and optimized for Win 7. ATI did what Nvidia is pushing for now (DX 11 support) with one year in advance, so I am pretty sure Fermi will be great, but I am also sure a counterpart from ATI to answer to Fermi will be even better. That is gonna happen in the next few months tho. You need a card now and your bang for your bucks goes straight to a 4870. And you'll be very happy.
  7. I love competition between ATI and Nvidia. Besides personal taste, it makes our life way easier when it comes to buy a strong videocard. They compete and we get better prices I love it
  8. lol.. there are many of Noobs moments on my roster, however, i am still a noob, not having much time to really playing this game... so many to come I belive. However, one pretty nice just happened yesterday .. uauauaua.. i m still laughing at myself ! I was on Sparta Server (where else I could be anyway??) and was supporting my team at my best, made a few kills, pertty cool so far.. so.. on my GPS minimap, close to my location i see NICO in blue, (I guess was NICO, but could be anyone else...) which usually means someone is down. So in my effort to help a nd revive a down teammate, on TS I said (and I hope noone heard me really) .."Nico, I m close to your location, hold on, getting there..." Now, when i got there, there was this pretty nice red cross tent built there, showing on my minimap exactly where NICO was supposed to be... so I started going around the tent, up and down, searching for my teammate down.. and could n t find him.... Afte a couple of minutes, i notice someone passing by and removing the medic tent... and Pufff the blue mark disappeared !!! There I understood i was trying to cure a medical tent...... I am still laughing !!!!
  9. Well, it will not totally terminate on march 1st. It will shut down every 2 hours without saving your work. In June 2010 it will terminate.
  10. I think is very important reading this, otherwise the upgrading process may result misleading: Important Notes There are a few important things to keep in mind when you are upgrading to the final version: ?The Windows 7 beta or RC releases were Ultimate edition, so you?ll only be able to upgrade to the RTM (final) if you are installing Ultimate Edition. ?Whenever possible, you should really backup your files and do a clean install. There are less headaches this way, and you get the benefit of a nice clean profile. Happy upgrading! ... And to Halo: If you are asking if after this upgrade you get the updates, you should, because you are ging to upgrad to a retail version of 7. you are not cracking the OS or using a pirate copy, you are only "confusing" te OS to have it upgrading.
  11. Ok, I downloaded everyything and tested some. it is very nice but i noticed too the SD of course give a real different impact to the fire range. Now i would like to know: When this campaiign is scheduled to happen? how many times per week it will be played? I would love to be part of it, but i have to check the schedule
  12. Hi Fatal, About the 3d Pro programming software, check here: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/441/291&...c|downloads||dd Choose OS and check the new software for Win 7, either 32 or 64 bit. I didn t try yet, but being made for 7 it should work fine, give it a shot
  13. Win 7 will always boot faster than Vista because it got the optimized processes. Now 7 starts up with the Process you need to start working within about 30 seconds, and you can use your PC right away, later, in background, it starts loading other prrocesses with secondary importance, so you don t notice that. I cannot directly comapre Vista to 7 performances because I skipped Vista entirely. What I know for sure, especially now 7 confirmed a huge customer satisfaction, all the major drivers are implemented for 7 in mind. Which means, the 7 64 or 32 bit drivers for videocard are going to work better on 7 than Vista, with improved performances. I have a quite full loaded config with 7 64 on this core 2 Duo at 3.6 Ghz and 4 MB ram and the boot-to-ready-to-use process involves about 30 seconds, maybe less. On my other i7 machine with RAID 0 array and fully (really fully) loaded productivity and games it takes something less than 30 seconds to be ready to work. It depends on how fast is your harddisk. SSD (expensive!) or RAID 0 (cheap) configs speed up your life on that subject. On 7 if you keep your drivers well up to date you are going to get the best performances you can compare with XP, which was a sort of benchmark for gaming.
  14. I confirm, no-ip.com is a great solution for free. i use it, I just set it into the DDNS on my router and it keep alive the connectivity refreshing the IP every times it change. Great solution. The other thing I just discovered about this remote software, you can connect to someone else straight from a browser, so far the hosting (receiving PC) has the software running. You will be interacting with the other PC just throught the browser window... this is just amazing !
  15. @ Panic: About the reboot and all the rest, this one does it too, if you enable the program starting with Windows ;) I find this program really easy and friendly. I tested with my dad, who is not exactly a geek, he was up and running in 5 minutes and I was remotely fixing his PC Plus, this one has Voip AND VIDEO, so you can see the other person, if they have a cam I didn t test that functionality yet, but i know is there
  16. Heehahe Yeah, I am playing the single player and at the moment I got to the Dog of War huge mission. However, in single, we shoudl talk not Of Artificial Intelligence but of Artificial Stupidity ! Your team is a total bunch of idiots, to not talk about Medics NOT healing you when you need 'em !! You cannot really count on your team to perform tactical actions and the only way to not get killed by frustration is SAVING your game every 5 minutes manually, because you' ll die (or someone of your team will) in the most stupid way ever or just simply because your medic standing 3 meters aways from you, will not cure you also if you are screaming like a dieing dog.... Sometimes i wonder how this game can work on multiplayer.... the Artificial Stupidity of the enemy should be just crazy...
  17. Honestly I think you r pushing your honesty to alimit ! :0 I do appreciate it, but really, if you think, is only one installation, because it cannot run simultaneously, so talking about that stupid EULA limitation, which has been jusrt recently modified (the old one was not so picky) is not broken. Furthermore, MS is not really checking each one machine, but if ever should that happen, all of the serial parts identified by the system are totally the same, most importantly the NIC card that connects you to the internet. Consider also that the OEM version is sold missing the tech support. Also, if you really wanna feel in fault, consider the new Win 7 OEM EULA says you CANNOT install it on a PC you build for yourself but ONLY on a PC you are re-selling, so you are already violating the EULA. Don t go too crazy and just enjoy your OEM copy like one billion of other users ;) The other thing is that I do not see the reason to have a partition for productivity and one just for games. It sounds to me ahuge waste of room Win 7 is so optimized that you really will not have performances differences on a single install. Think about and let me know, I can search for you a link to the caveat of this stupid new EULA regarding the re-selling part, but trust me, I already analized the issue and is just ridicoulous With the new EULA MS theoretically denies tech enthuasiasts to save some money building a PC and not even asking for tech support. The old EULA with Vista was not like this. However, I ask a friend of mine to buy the OEM and build a PC for me and sell it to me, but just because we are friends he will ask me a nominal 20 bucks to cover the gas expenses. Now the PC has been sold and I can enjoy the OEM version... how cool is that ? ;)
  18. Hi guys, I want to share this with you because I am pretty sure it will be very useful to many. I just got it and test it. It's amazing and so simple a Caveman can do it ! ;) Take a look at: http://www.teamviewer.com/index.aspx It's free for NON commercial use. Read all the info and I am pretty sure you'll love it. I used a few of these software but this one shocked me for its semplicity and full load of features enjoy
  19. Hi Fatal, I honestly think after a lil bit u ll be using Win 7 u ll love it and u ll move all of ure stuff on it. If u r already happy with Vista, u ll be super happy with 7, because it s a sort of really enhanced and upgraded Vista. I don twanna push u into 7 but i do believe it will be a natural consequence, so before u want to invest in a new external 1 TB, maybe u wanna have a full test drive on 7. I m actually using it since the beta testing and now with the retail version with all of the pruductive software and game software and performances are just amazing. To not talk about his full compatibility with all possible hardware, which get installed seamlessly because 7 automatically get the best drivers ad u don t even have to bother with Cd to install. Just test it, but i think u ll end removing Vista switching all of ure productivity on 7.
  20. really to me sounds just as low batteries. It was working fine before and now you said is a couple of weeks u have a signal problem. If anything else changed with your system, I really think is simple as changing batteries. Let me know if that fix the issue, because something is working perfectly fine the day before and suddenly does not work anymore always fascinates me Good luck
  21. Yes, this has been the film of the year for me, and the milestone for this kind of technology. from now ahead, i will watch movies at the IMAX every time I can, but the expectation will be quite high I loved it !
  22. Wow .. I didn t know the Bucs had those kind of "supporters" !! I m gonna support those poor girls for sure!! they need massages and care after all of that booty shaking ! lol.. here i come !!
  23. Well, I enjoyed GRAW 1 & 2, mostly in single, MP never got my compliments. However, improving that MP iis not that difficolt, considering it sucks big time, cannot be worst than that. Hi quality graphic is a standard nowaday, so I partially disagree wiith Zeno. Better say that I agree so far we saw great graphic and poor MP, but now with this technology is no more a matter of prioritizing something better than something else. Today if is not great graphic, it just sucks. Software houses have no excuses to produce something with less than excellent graphic, because the technology is there and they have to use iit. Creating a greatt MP experience is different, that depends only on how good are programmers and writers when it come to integrate something into the engine. Of course is also matter of Marketing. If Ubisoft woke up in the morning and decided to create the Anti CoD MW2, we are all screwd, because that will be a FPS run and kill like all the rest. If they think it will briing more money in their pockets because ppl just like run and kill, it is what it is... GRAW never been like that tho, so i really hope they will not screwd a nice "icon" has been created linked to that name. They should not really reiinvent the wheel. In my opinion to be nice should have: 1) AI - I mean, AI... did I mentioned AI ? 2) Random spawning AI, with no scripted beahhaviours and paths... did I mentioned AI before? 3) Teamplay User interface, to be able to communicate with the others, create teams and all the good stuff existing in ANY other game created to be played in MP 4) ability to use at least Landed vehicles 5) good anti-cheat protection 6) BIG MAPS Honestly, if they don t touch the old graphic and give me at least these points, i would be an happy camper in GRAW
  24. Heehahaheheha Thank you all guys !! One year older? .. NO WAY.. I stopped at 37, I liked the number i guess ;)... the next permanent year wiill be 69, for obvious reasons, but that is long to come, and have no rush for that !! lol see ya !!
