    Respawning HMMWVs

seems like you guys solved this, but ill add my 2 cents. #1 Have additional avengers that are grounded to base; park them in a separate lot. Add permissions to them, if they leave base they go boom. #2 Make a call box near the parking lot that will rubber band or mark up existing abandoned vehicles on the map.
  6. Our new trailer came out over the weekend and I wanted to share it with you guys. Sorry if this is the wrong venue, just wanted to share with the arma spartans.
  7. welcome to the forums peter, thanks for the revives!
  8. This was alot of fun last night. Sorry i lost net connection half way through though. I was with chee chow when those tanks rolled up on us, INTENSE!!! Overall I felt way more pressure. The enemies moved into the trees right around the MHQ; spawning in there, knowing there were peppered all through the trees, was scary as hell. There was way more enemies on us than usual, more numbers and power packed into smaller areas. Dealing with 2 tanks + infantry when its just you and one other dude on the high ground is redonkulously awesome. The commander made me feel like I was being hunted rather than the other way around. I don't know much about the op-for commander's options, but i think it would be really awesome to have some sort of last stand option. If the op-for commander wishes, he can rally all his remaining troops to the last objective for an epic finish to an AO. As I said not sure what all options he has, but making one objective that would normally be a walk in the park, super difficult on the fly, that would make blu-for command deal with some interesting conditions. AWESOME WORK! Can't wait to do this again.
  9. Sorry if this is old, i thought it was pretty neat and it was the 1st time I seen it. Looks like they are doing some post video effects on it. External link for better res. cheers!
  10. I see the negative affect you guys are pointing out. I guess my idea of stats/ranking were less about ego stroking and more about player progress and continuity. If there was some way to track stats, you would know which of the missions you have actually completed/which ones you have left. If your stats persisted from one day to the next and from server start to restart I think players would be less likely to rush out and leave their team in the dust in attempt to get kills. There could also be experience bonus's penalties associated with teamwork actions. If you die you are penalized, if you revive someone you gain exp. This would promote sticking together, the points could be as such that you are still gaining experience even if you're dying a lot. Commanders/Admins could also maybe award points/medals. I'm not suggesting a call of duty style leveling system where players will want to grind their way to the top. Its more about creating some persistence to something that feels to reset every time I reconnect. Even the ability for the server to save my preferred loadout would be a step in this direction, it would save everyone time and it would create; in a sense, a character where there otherwise would not be. Maybe this could be tied to the players name/class chosen. I suppose this doesn't change the core experience at all, nor does it promote team play. I just thought it would be cool to see some personal progress, a reward for time vested, and a way to know who to follow cause they know their stuff. keep the ideas coming?
  11. I've heard that sparta has ties to the bohemia development team, it could be really cool to have some sort of persistent ranking system on the servers. If you participate in either a main AO or side mission you could gain some sort of experience that would accumulate over time and could display your rank or possible unlock special character models on the server side to let other players know your experience level. This could also be used for successful piloting missions, I'm not sure if the game is collecting that information or not; but it definitely tracks kills and objectives. If you see a character running around in a jump suit you would know for sure they were qualified to fly. This sort of carrot system could system could promote keeping teams together through out the entirety of the missions; it will also promote people to return to the server as they are seeing a direct affect of their efforts. I believe it would be significant work on the in-game side to implement some sort of GUI for these stats, but I could see this being collected server side to generate some sort of html stats page that would be connected to the sparta site. Just a thought? Your thoughts?
  12. You're welcome to ask away, I may or may not be able to help you though Ya I've been playing here for a bit, just figured I would introduce myself so i can apply for the sparta tag and be able to PM people. Who's in charge of those permissions? cheers, -d
  13. Thanks gents. To answer your questions. My official title here is Animator, I participate in character development, animation systems, game play, and (unofficially) dabble in game type design. In the past I've done, cinematic directing/animating, character design, concept art, special fx animation, mission design, and of coarse character animation. I worked on ODST and am currently on Reach, can't really say much more on the Bungie side of things, especially in writing on forums you understand. I wouldn't consider myself a hardcore techie but it obviously comes with the nature of my work and I would say I'm pretty savvy. cheers
  14. Figured I should make my official introduction finally. Some of you may or may not recognize me I've logged about 80 hours in the last 2 months with you guys; and I have to say you gents are awesome! Its been a great place to get familiar with this beast of a "game". A little about me. My name is Drew, I've been making video games for about 5 years, I work at a studio in Kirkland, WA called Bungie. I'm very passionate about games, and very interested in participating within game communities, they can offer an experience unrivaled by your usual run of the mill shooter. I'm an extremely competitive gamer, my shooters of choice are Counter Strike, Day of Defeat, Halo, BF2, and now arma. I'm an avid street fighter player and I would say I'm in the top 10% of the world, recently arma has torn me away from my street fighter training. Arma has tapped into the other aspects of gaming that I love so much, the social and co-operative experience. I enjoy playing airsoft with my friends, making art/animation, and my winter passion snowboarding. Since I started playing with sparta I have been focusing on my piloting skills, and learning how to be the most effective on the ground. I've successfully piloted/completed around 20 side missions, I'm learning a lot about piloting and this game, the community here is invaluable for increasing my skill set, I look forward to continuing to increase my skills and playing with you guys. tried to keep it short and sweet and give you guys a little more info on myself, I would love to get my forum status upgraded so I can PM folks, and I would love to join you guys at a more official capacity when you see fit. cheers! see y'all on TS and on the ground d
