  1. So day one of this years Citizencon. Pyro coming at the end of October (early PTU test) will open to all backers over the course of the year. This will be test environment totally disconnected to the LIVE branch so expect a buggy experience, frequent loss of playing ability and general shithousery. CR thinks it will be akin to the 1st 3.0 release many years ago. but it's important to test out the new systems while they implement the replication layer. Then they can combine the systems as one. A couple of new ship concepts standard money generating practice Polaris is in grey box BanuMM is paused but over 80% complete Retaliator variants in post production new ground vehicle new mining ship New star map. You will need to watch the video to truly see what's next - but its impressive. porting the work done for SQ42 into the PU, tech is ready just needs adjustment to suit MMO instead of SP. FPS map on the HUD, can put down POI that persist. You can save and share POI between party members setting waypoints, rendezvous points etc. FPS map is dynamic, you can zoom from person, to location (including ship interior), to planet, to system seamlessly - all one map. This is important for POI because you can place down mining resource locations, salvage finds etc dynamically, then share those with party members. This will be the system used when selling exploration locations, mining claims and land claims.

    3.21

    3.21 is now live. Added 3 Jump Points, Pyro, Magda and Terra. The JP are not active, but they have their full infrastructure in place including space stations and port facilities. These locations also have different trade goods, not available in system. 3.21 brings the ability to share physical cargo ownership with a party. IE if I buy the goods, then transfer them to another party members ship, they can then sell them anywhere without them being classed as stolen. This works for refined ore, salvage material and standard tradable goods. 3.21 has included new missions, updated AI and improved server performance. Full server crash protection host of other improvements. (not to mention a whole new set of bugs!)
  3. Magnus is the home of Drake Interplanertary and a number of component manufactures (specifically QT Drives) slightly lower threat level compared to Stanton. Has a Capital class Jump Point to Terra, a standard class JP to Ellis and a Captial class JP to Stanton.
  4. 3.21 currently in PTU has some intrestinng features. One of the most eye catching is the inclusion of the Jump points for Terra, Magnus and Pyro. Whilst the JP themselves are not active, the locations are filled with the infustructure needed to support trading, fueling and general transport between this Star systems. Plus they look epic! I took a trip out to the Terra JP, which is the closest to Arcorp (our normal case of operations) and the trip took around 15 minutes. The station at Terra has a number of tradable goods that can only be sold between the JP locations, which encourages the Bulk haulers away from the in-system trade routes. This has had a dramatic impact on the stock levels around the various locations, which has helped the smaller traders be more efficient. Whilst all this is nice, the real game changer (pun intended) is the inclusion of the tech called "replication layer" . CIG published an update on server meshing about this time last year. Server meshing opens up the game and allows the inclusion of multiple star systems, higher player counts and better performance. The Jump point to Terra.

    One step closer to the big day. It was always only a stop gap, but it's sad to see Port Olisar finally leaving the verse. With the removal of PO the Stanton system is now almost feature complete. The only remaining item on the list are the Jump points to Pyro, Terra and Magnus. (only 99 more star systems to go :)) 4.0 "apparently" brings the Pyro JP online. 4.0 is expected to enter test in December. 4.0 also brings static server meshing. Who knows, this time next year they might even start delivering on the promise. that would be nice!

  7. 3.19.1 brings a bunch of changes to the verse, including updates to the mining HUD, resource locations and general gameplay. It has also introduced Salvage contracts, which myself and Custard have been exploring. I'm running teh Vulture, a small 1 to 2 man salvage ship with Custard running logistics selling the Cargo and salvage from the missions as i strip the ships. It can be quite a decent payout - the big mission nets around 500k on the cargo you can loot and around 100k in salvage from the Vulture. The aim is to save up credits in oreder to buy the Reclaimer, a large multi crew salvage ship which is capable of holding over 90 boxes of salvage. for comparison the Vulture holds around 12!
  8. The latest patch brings huge changes to Mining. Consumable balance, Mining head balance, Rock formation changes and a huge shift in how resources are distributed around the system. Loud guns has put a good vid aout about it - take a look if it floats your mining boat!!

  10. Played 2 hours this afternoon - bug free (actually. like not even kidding!) 6 Bunker missions, one mining run and a Bounty permit completed.

  12. enjoying the channel mission - even if my kill to death ratio is a little scewed (although to be fair - I keep loosing my engine rather than being killed). Lots of fun Zeno thanks - I'll try hitting the shipping convoy next!

  14. Time to blow the cobwebs off that Conni. Plus if you have the DS that means we could run a 4 man operation easily. Conni (transport) Ds Driver Ds Miner Prospector/Snub Fighter etc Scout. (Prospector could also scout for larger rocks too)
  15. She was very much the one single constant through everyones lives. A truly sad day.
