  1. Happy Birthday Yankee! Although I'm more of a Rangers fan, I might now be a Yankee fan today. :)

It's okay. Thanks everyone for the wishes. I may not be a yankees fan, but last night I got the best birthday present ever!!!!

    Pistols firing!

  2. As the title says...Should I buy this game?

Does it require a ton of time to keep up with other players? Or with my inconsistent gaming time will I always be many levels behind?

Is this the flavor of the month? We all waited months to get our hands on BF3 and SPARTA players are already infrequent.

    Let me know your thoughts.

Many thanks and happy new year!

  3. Here are the latest graphics drivers for Battlefield 3 supported by AMD and GeForce.

    Nvidia: 285.79 Beta (released today)

    Windows 7/Vista - 64 Bit

    Windows 7/Vista - 32 Bit

    AMD: 11.10

    Windows 7 - 64 Bit

    Windows 7 - 32 bit

If you are using Crossfire also install 11.9 CAP4 (Crossfire Application Profile):

    Crossfire Additional Driver

    EDIT:

Sorry AMD users, these drivers appear to be from October. However, the NVIDIA drivers are from today :)

  4. 6 x supported devices

    4 x supported motherboards

    5 x supported GFX devices

    2 x supported operating systems

6 x 4 x 5 x 2 = 240 permutations. Each and every one of them must be examined and sanity checked (1 to 2 hours per test if I'm sticking to base sanity).

Throw in constant new builds of the software. Time it takes to file the paper work, test regressions.

Now throw in client bug report verification, more paperwork, meetings with international clients.... <.<

Not too bad though; the boss don't seem to mind if I slack off after 8:00 that much though. 30% productivity at that point is acceptable.

Never bored, just numb some days.

PS: In case you say BS; they also gave me an apartment key. That the office rented out incase we needed to sleep overnight at the office. And they've expensed my meals more then once.

    BULLSHEEET!

  5. I never talk about this.

4 years ago I was home for summer break. Being a volunteer firefighter, one night I get called out for a bad MVA involving a family. I arrive on scene first and start to assess and triage. 6 occupants between two cars. One car is down into a ditch, other is a small patch of trees. I'm quickly doing vitals and tagging occupants red and black and hear sirens in the distance. At this point it's not looking good and I tell te responding trucks to step it up.

Not as soon as I let go of my mic I feel a hand grab my shoulder. I about jump out of my pants. It's some guy who's face I will never forget. He starts asking about his kids (they're in te car in the trees). At this point I'm assuming he was ejected and somehow survived or is suffering head trauma.

About this point the first ambulance arrives and I run over and tell them to grab the guy who I have directed to sit on the sidewalk. I continue on assuming he's taken care of. Ambulances come and go helicopter lands whisks one kid away. I had literally put this night out of my head as it was just one of the accidents where i didn't expect much (any emt will understand this).

Fast forward about a month. Sitting at the station shooting the breeze. The accident comes up and me being the caring guy I say something to he effect of "oh yeah I feel so bad for that guy if he survived. I don't think anyone made it from the car in the trees." all my buddies give me a weird look and say what guy? I tell them the story and they all have a confused look on their faces.

Turns out, all of the occupants were doa, including the dad. None were pulled from the car. To this day, remembering what I saw an felt and trying to think how I missed him in the car still haunts me. No one remembers any guy and when I asked about the guy on the sidewalk, the medics said they thought I was talking about the other occupant who I had pulled up from the ditch near the sidewalk to do vitals.

    Happy halloween!

  6. If we make all these rules go into effect, we're going to need to make sure we have more than 1 admin. I guarantee not everyone reads these boards and having to explain our rules over and over again will get old quickly.

I'd suggest picking the top three rage inducing issues and make three corresponding rules and stick to them. The majority of these maps are not meant to be played crouch only. Even the small ones will last ages with crouch only and people will die frequently due to campers.

Most of all, let's not beat this topic to death. There is no magic catch all way and appealing to all is not possible. We did this with ba company and by the time we thought we had rules set people had dropped off and the server lie empty.

No amount of rules can "make" you like a game.

  7. Just got confirmation from origin (yes flame on I bought it on origin) that my game preloads tomorrow.

For those (halli) that weren't sure you should have received this email too.

So pumped! Can't wait to base jump with Sparta and friends.

  8. This looks effing awesome....

I'm not sure if this post was sarcastic? This post is sarcastic. And I'm assuming this The single player gameplay, which compliments the night missions well. It already saddens me that my computer will not handle this game well and I will be left with tracer rounds that look like 8-bit space invaders bullets.
