  1. Gentlemen, the time has come. We can finally announce a Beta test of the Sparta MP campaign with the title "Riders on the storm". The mission is now in Beta test shape and after a successful test we will not hesitate to release it. The Beta test will be today Monday 22nd of February at 19.00 UK time. All persons who helped developing the mission like for instance the voice actors will be privileged for the beta test. We are looking for 6 persons to help us testing the mission, which makes a total amount of 8 persons. Thanks in advance Zeno, Kav
  2. Let´s just review a few facts: You started playing on the server, you were applying for a membership, you broke with the spartans after a bad tacdom night, then obviously you joined a new community and now you are asking to, how did you called it, share the wealth. I think this has nothing to do with sharing wealth but with many, many hours of hard work in order to make gameplay more easy to handle. This is actual what makes this community so unique because there are a lot of people here, who have something to offer, skilled people who work hard to improve gameplay in many ways. If you were an apprentice in a bakery for example and after one week you quit because you don´t like the way how they work. Would you really go back and tell them : "Hey I don´t like how you work here in this bakery but maybe you could give me the recipe for the croissants. They were really good." Don´t you think this is a little bit cheap???
  3. I remember one of my first sessions on the Sparta server, where we were doing this "capture the general" sidemission. We finally found the general but unfortunately it was not a rescue operator who find the general first. The effect was that this stupid general was not reacting to anything. This was the moment when I stand in front of the prone general pointing my Dmr at his head and scrolling my mousewheel for changing the weapon I think. Anyway the action menu entry disappeared while I thought it was still there so I klicked the mouse and the general was dead. Now try to explain this to somebody. New on the server, lost his patience and killed the general. Sidemission not resolved.
  4. Salmon, spinach and pasta sounds very tasty. I like all the components. Have to try this one out.
  5. Yep I had the same issue. When I bought the game I started to play the SP campaign. Turned out that after 2 missions I gave up. Unplayable. BUT there is a small mini campaign which came out with patch 1.05. This 3 or 4 missions are really worthy to play. Especially the first 2 are quite good. Nice atmosphere.
  6. OK here is my absolute favourite starter. It ´s called Scampis "Don Alfredo". I will try to post the recipe just out of my mind... Here we go. For the prawns: 500 g Prawns or Scampis (the bigger the better) 100 g flour 2 lemons 20 g Worcestire sauce salt For the Sauce "Don Alfredo": 250 g butter 6 onions 10 cloves of garlic 50 g Sambal Olek (if not available use a normal Tomato ketchup + chili seeds + cayenne pepper) 10 g chopped parsley 20 g olive oil How to do: Startting with the sauce you have to cut the onions into very small (the finer the better) cubes. But cut them with a knive and do not use a rubble because using a rubble the juice of the onion will get out making the whole thing really bitter. Then you need to put 2/3 of the butter into a pot on low flame (butter always have to be melted on low heat). The other 1/3 of the butter you put together with the garlic and the olive oil into a blender, blend it with the result you have a garlic butter. Add this garlic butter and the onion cubes into the pot with the other butter. Leave it on low flame for about 5 minutes to get the onions cooked. Now add so much Sambal olek or as explained above the ketchup + + until you get a nice, gold-brown colour. Thats it fo the sauce: For the prawns. Clean and peel the prawns (heads away, and if you got big ones also cut their tails off to get the intestines out), then marinade them with salt, lemon juice, worcestire sauce, meal them in the flour and then fry them on medium heat with not too much oil until ready. How to serve: Place 5-7 prawns on a plate, put 2 spoons of the sauce onto them and for the decoration just strew some of the chopped parsley on it. This is a very easy and nice dish. Quite perfect as a starter. The sauce can be hold up to 10 days in the fridge without going off as its main content is butter. This dish can also be modified to a premium pasta dish with lots of parmesan...
  7. Sounds like me. Except that I was never married...
  8. Some years ago I lived with in a big farm house whch we reneted with 4 friends in germany. My room mate had a Dobermann called Duke. The best dog I ever met. Duke, who was trained as watch dog, never let you out of sight. Even at night when I was I out with him I tried to hide my self out of his sight and he always came back to find me. Funniest thing I remember was when my room mate Nicola invited some friends and there was this girl sitting alone in the kitchen, and I knew she was scared of dogs. So I decided to also come into the kitchen duke next to me. And I told the dobermann: "Duke sit", so duke sat down. "Duke watch out" pointing on her. and then finally just before leaving the kitchen "Duke stay." And so was it. Duke sat down right in front of the scared to death girl gazing at her and not moving for a sec. He seemed to be padded. After half a minute I returned into the kitchen and told her that it was only a joke....HAHA what a fun.
  9. I just read on a german site about operation Moshtarak. BTW Moshtarak means in Dari "together" because aside the Us troops there are fighting alot Afghani coalition troops. The Afghani government prepared themselves for refugees but from the 80000 civilians there left only 2800 people until now. The people living in this region feel disregarded by the government in Kabul so that it was and it is easy for the Taliban to win their attention. Another fact is that many years ago the US government helped building irrigation channels in this region to support the local agricultural infrastructure with the effect that poppy plantations became posibble and with it the opium production. These channels are also the reason why the troops now can not use armour because manouvering has become nearly impossible and also another sideeffect is that these channels seem to be a good hideout for enemy sniper- and trap positions.
  10. Looks like somebody got the train in Arma2 moving. Looks great:
  11. The problem is that I can´t use jpeg in the briefing. A2 only excepts paa files in the briefing. @Tyler I don´t have Photoshop so I can´t use the plugin.
  12. I need to convert an image-file in jpeg format into a paa file. Arma2 can only read them. So what I read in several forums is that BIs Texview 2 is the program I have to use. But unfortunately it won´t open neither the jpeg nor a tga file. Anybody experienced with Texview 2?
  13. @skele would like to do that, unfortunately there are only 10000 kms between us. Otherwise i would say i will come over to your place for some jamming.
  14. ok you got it. Callsign will be banjo 6. unfortunately i don`t have internet today and so i am sitting here in a greek kafenio, behind me there are about 8 guys playing texas hold em for big, big money, so that i can`t sent out the voice scripts from my own pc. i just hope that i won`t screw up the size of the mission with all the additional sounds. We will see....just be patient until i got my internet back so that i don`t have to write from a gambling infected place like this. greeks are so addicted...
  15. Most of the guys I know who play the GUIT FIDDLE, do also play some other intruments like the Bass fiddle. I am also expert in playing the triangel...
  16. Ok, thanks to all who volunteered for that. i will update the radio-transmission scripts with the info Durka just gave me tomorrow. And when ready I will decide together with Zeno who might be the best choice for the radio thing. I really would like to give each of you a role in the mission, but unfortunately I only can integrate 3 of you guys. But you are all welcome to play an active part in that mission when its ready by playing it together. @Skele What instrument do you play. I also play for over 20 years the piano (mainly classical music) and I also mix electronic music (deep house, electro, but mainly goa) on my pc using virtual dj.
  17. Sounds good. Means that you will be the first man on the carrier. Any special callsign you would suggest for HQ (carrier in this case). Should end with 6.
  18. If he volunteers I would gladly take him as the HQ corrosponding officer to kick some asses...
  19. Hey Stang, After a speech like that, which will be for sure 10 minutes long (spoken) my mission will be unplayable because it has become more than 12 MBs big.
  20. Sounds like I found some actors in less then 1 hour. Very well then. I will let you guys know via PM for the sound scripts. First I need a chat with our military advisor to get to know how military radio messages have to be sent properly. The sound samples can be either in wav or mp3. I will convert them into ogg. @Stang Nice speech, but I think this guy would be a bit toooooo much.
  21. As you might know we (Zeno and me) are currently working on a MP campaign and chapter 2 is nearly done. Now to make it more realistical I am looking for some voice actors for sending and receiving radio messages. I tried to do it in the first mission with a text to speech program, but it sounds really emotionless to me. So if there is somebody out there who thinks he has a nice, markant voice and likes to hear himself again in one of my missions, please contact me for further information. 3 different voices would be excellent: 1st for Alpha squad leader 2nd for Bravo squad leader 3rd for HQ I would do it myself but I think my accent would not fit into this.
