  1. I don't view this as a rage issue either. I am politically to the left but completely don't understand these bans and limitations. I want to purposely make a distinction between background checks and other types of loophole closures. It's a short sided 'feel good' effort that won't stop criminals or those motivated to make the evening news, and what happens when another mass shooting happens? More legislation? Confiscation?. We have an international membership on these boards and I have always heard from friends overseas that our 2nd Amendment is strange and unknown. Without getting into a political discussion, the simple truth is that you can't legislate away certain amendments that you don't agree with. It's all or none. If we analogize it to video games, it's like banning Battlefield 3 because it trains kids to be effective killers - but allowing games like ARMA because it's not as flashy or scary. We all know that Battlefield 3, and video games in general, do not cause violence or make violent offenders more efficient. Just like a pistol grip or 3 additional bullets in a magazine won't stop a motivated criminal.

  5. Very interesting. I did want to say that I am letting the server expire at the end of this billing cycle. From what I have been reading, there has been a significant drop in the overall amount of DayZ players and a huge influx in DayZ servers. This is why we are lucky to get more than 10 people on at anytime. I looked at the numbers over the weekend and they were just as bad. Also, because we no longer have control over the mission file we cannot have the connect / disconnect messages appear which is the source of many curses as people can just alt-f4 once being fired at. I also feel that this is the right move coupled with the announcement that this will be a standalone game. While Rocket says both the mod and standalone will be developed side-by-side, I think we all know that means the mod will be sitting on the back burner, and any major content updates will be saved for the standalone.
  6. I forgot about that damn trick where people loot your gear and become hostile on your screen. I was on a lvl 2 mission and thought this guy was just another NPC... Killed me in like 5 shots and had a module stopping me from warping out. EDIT: If it makes any different, the character name of this person was Shederov Blood
  7. I am reactivating my account, but basically starting out as a new-blood again. To eventually hook up with you guys what Server / Faction should I be? Alright I have a noob Caldari character named Coremack. Gonna learn the game again EDIT: Nm, I forgot about an older character I created named Pavatar. He's a bit further along - going to play him for a bit.
  8. That's a DayZ issue, it's supposed to be fixed in the next patch. All of ARMA multiplayer is down at the moment.
  9. Server should be up and running okay now. I will be reseting it again at ~5:00pm CST and that should take care of any lingering problems. Camo and Ghillie suit issues should be fixed now.
  10. What makes me think they are trying to capitalize on DayZ is how much seems directly copied from DayZ (The tile being one of them). But if you look at some of the player models they created you even have the baseball cap, longsleeve, rucksack wearing soldier look. Could be complete coincidence but DayZ's models are a result of the PMC addon and will be switched out. I don't understand the motivation behind it, as most people would assume you would have a rag-tag disheveled look.
  11. I read the PC Gamer article on this. I think the features they are promising are pretty steep and it will be interesting to see if they can deliver. If they can it would be great, but healthy competition is best.
  12. They are doing server upgrades right now, moving everything over to IvyBridge. Looks like a lot of servers are having desync issues right now as well.
  13. Patched to 1.7.3 Btw, all servers had a mandatory name change. Seattle 24 is now know as US 641
  14. Rocket said the hot fix will be released today and should address it. I would look to http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz to see when it is released and what will be in the final change log.
  15. This is a big update and has been in the works for some time. I will update the server later today. It usually takes a few hours for me to get the option to update it as well. It's also smart to hold off until some preliminary comments to make sure your character doesn't spawn in dead, without gear, in the ocean sort of thing. Also make sure you have the most updated Beta patch for some of these fixes to take effect.   16. Just FYI, Having issues with HFB right now. Server should be up soon. Basically, we had multiple invoices on the account for July. Crispy paid one of them, yet the invalid ones still caused the account to go into repayment suspension. We have receipts and everything so I am sure it will be online as soon as they see it.

  18. We have a monopoly here in Omaha. Cox is overpriced and can't get anything near their advertised speeds. We just got Century Link which is even worse with max speeds at about 5MBs. Just terrible.
