  1. Mine also auto-downloaded the PTS. Looking at the discussion board, apparently it is "Public Test Server" where you can help test upcoming changes they're trying out before pushing to the live servers.

  2. I have not used the pre-made streaming boxes before, but I have used Kodi with the various IPTV streaming add-ons on my own hardware. My problem is that eventually, they all get shut down by the various law enforcement agencies around the world. While its not illegal for you to own that box or to even view the streams... it is illegal (in most countries) for them to broadcast it and it is very easy to track down the source of a stream to take legal action against whoever is responsible for it. Of course, once they shut one down, two more pop up... but that just means you have to stay tuned into that community to learn where the best new content is coming from and keep your add-ons updated. If you have the time, patience, and you won't get an earful from the other people in your home for having to change constantly, that system can certainly save you a fair bit of coin from the cable company and the box office.

  3. I think only admins can upload files on the old server, it would be nice if members could upload on the new server if this is possible

We have not locked down that permission on the new server, so anyone should be able to upload. Let me know if you're unable to and we'll get that figured out.

  4. All channels on the old TeamSpeak have been locked down and multiple hints at moving to the new address. We'll leave the old server up through the weekend to catch as many regular users as possible.

If you have uploaded any files to the channels on the old server, be sure to grab them before next week if you don't want them to disappear.

  5. I took a lap through the valleys around the main base, but didn't spot the Miner. Did deliver a few loads of iron from the lake, though.

Also added some oxygen and hydrogen storage tanks to the lake base. What else do we need to start getting into space?

  6. Do we have pics available?

@Cent you have been busy nice!

How does the auto blast door work?

I could not get the small rotor trick to work acceptably so I built a large block survey ship (this monstrosity is outside the base) and have found a suitable flattish valley to begin serious mining

Iron first if there is any priority for specific ore after the iron let me know, we may need more than one large container at base

I see steam has a group chat thingummy now do we want to use this to keep up to date with each others work or continue to use this thread?

Yea the blast door is nice, I didn't look into how the auto close stuff was being done, but that's pretty slick.

Adder and I built a mini mining base over on the lake that I put a large landing pad on that may fit your surveyor.

We could give the group chat a try, but if we talk about our shenanigans here, we may entice some new players to join us... Hint hint, noobs.

  7. Got it, makes sense. I was thinking about doing a Utility/Transport type ship with the same functional concept, so that works.

My miner is pretty straight forward. Only thing to be careful about is keeping it upright. Only the large thrusters have enough push to keep it airborne. Its not really an efficient design, though. I have to grind through the top layers each pass, which is not ideal, especially if we're going to dig down to those 100m deep deposits. I was going to do a redesign to try and get it to work on two axis, but I saw you built your miner so I just used yours. After doing two passes with my vertical miner, I was able to drop in with your horizontal one straight to the ore and skip all the rock. Managed to get about 150k of nickel in one go, but still did get a bit of stone also... how do you discard the unwanted material from yours?

    My boot up sequence:

    1. Battery "recharge" off
    2. Reactors on
    3. Release connector
    4. Antenna on
    5. Ore detector on

    Once at the ore location:

    1. Fine tune position over the ore
    2. Align roll and pitch with the horizon guage
    3. Lock the gyroscope
    4. Ensure ejectors are on
    5. Turn on drills
    6. Continue to lower elevation until ore is reached
    7. Slowly raise back to the surface

I did do some tidying up around the base. Renamed all the ship components to include which ship they are on so looking at the inventory and control panel is a bit easier to figure out what is what. Turned off all the ship antennas and ore detectors while docked to clean up the HUD. Turned off all ship reactors so they're not trying to power the base and also put all ship batteries on recharge for the same reason. Turned off the "use conveyors" option for all the ship reactors, otherwise they automatically pull uranium from the refinery when ore is dropped in.

  8. Figured I'd start a thread since I probably won't see most of you until the weekend.

What is the function of the new rover style vehicle? Very odd design, couldn't figure out what the intent was.

Also with that vehicle, I wouldn't leave it docked to the connector on the rotor. Any time I'd return to the base after mining, that thing would be pretty violently shaking and there is a bit of damage to the wheel.

P.S. - Anyone that plays SE that isn't already aware, I'm running a dedicated server. Search "LOSC Survival". You must be a member of the Sparta group on Steam to join the server. Steam group link: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/LegionOfSparta

  9. Hey all.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on some upcoming changes happening here in the next week.

We will be moving both our website hosting and TeamSpeak server to a single hosting provider. For the website and forums, this should be mostly seamless. For TeamSpeak, everyone will have to update their server bookmark once we go live.

We don't have a hard set date of when we're making the transition, this is merely a courtesy warning that change is around the corner. When we get everything finalized, we'll make another announcement with all the pertinent details.

If there are any questions or concerns, come have a chat with us in TeamSpeak.
