  1. At least since I've been a member, The United States Army has also been blocking the LOSC. Haha. - JHunter
  2. Yep. He was referring to the mod that the server would host a file with everyone's user ID and (up to) 4 custom kits they can pick from when they join in, instead of having to kit up each time at the ammobox. - JHunter
  3. The reason this happens is because the Tac server is not a persistent mission. Once the server empties, the server will drop the mission. So the first person that joins the server has to launch the mission. As Yankee and Noob said, you have to vote yourself an admin to do that. Once you have voted yourself in, type "#missions" into the chat to bring up the mission selection menu. Be sure to give it a second after hitting enter, sometimes it takes awhile for the menu to pop up. Hope this helps. - JHunter
  4. Lmao. Beat me to it, Dai. Noob, this was brought up before. Simply put, it would be a nightmare to maintain. It's just not going to happen. Once we get done tweaking Domination, I may look into some suitable alternative / middle ground. - JHunter
  5. Hilarious spoof of Obama's speech. [YT]xlOIy6QEbes[/YT] - JHunter
  6. During my deployment to Iraq, my unit was tasked with doing detainee operations. During that time, I had the pleasure of working with quite a few Military Working Dogs. Their mere presence made our job much easier. Iraqi's, generally speaking, are terrified of dogs. Thanks for sharing, Durka. - JHunter
  7. Just to make sure, does this final mission take you to the town of Nagara? - JHunter
  8. Haha. Yikes. Real 3 dollar coin: - JHunter
  9. I had no idea, either. Funny quote from the Wikipedia page, though. - JHunter
  10. I'll give it a shot. Downloading the US version... hope there isn't a divide in actual game play. - JHunter
  11. Haha, that was pretty good. They could be onto something there. - JHunter
  12. Lmao. Well, so long as Wikipedia says it, its definitely final. If that was the compound, he definitely couldn't have made it any easier for a helicopter insertion, hm? Even our Air Assault squad could have pulled that one off. - JHunter
  13. Someone please just lock this thread. - JHunter
  14. Well, interesting tid bit to share. Got bored this evening with a few hours to burn before I had to take off for work, so I figured I'd go ahead and get this done. When I pulled off the existing (stock) heatsink, the paste was just crap. Just to humor myself, I decided to put on a dab of the good paste I got with the H70, and then put the stock heatsink back on just to see what the difference would be. Doing so as dropped by idle temps by 10 degrees Celsius. Crazy. Haven't done any gaming yet, but I'm sure the under load temps will show similar results. I'll still be putting the H70 on this weekend, but just goes to show how much a difference a good thermal paste can make. - JHunter P.S. for Haji - Hope you didn't wait around for me to come back on TS. I got wrapped up with that little experiment, as well as deciding to re-route some cables that I did not place very well when I initially put the box together.
  15. I'm definitely up for this. However, I'm not so sure about the plan. It would look pretty cool, granted. But I see it ending tragically. Correct me if I'm wrong, but even in the movies (specifically thinking Black Hawk Down), the birds did not come in one at a time. They all landed within seconds of each other, dropping their troops, and taking back off again, again pretty much at the same time. This method not only puts more boots on the ground in a shorter time frame, but it also doesn't leave that last chopper as vulnerable. Especially taking into consideration how the AI react in Arma, that last chopper is almost certainly doomed if there is a full 15-20 seconds by the time the AI is alerted to the time its trying to depart. All vehicles, emplaced weapons, and machine guns will be tearing that poor guy apart. But thats just my two cents. - JHunter
  16. So, I have not been happy with my CPU's temperatures during long gaming sessions, I decided to order the H70. It just came in today, so I intend to install it this weekend some time. So I'm curious if those of you that have installed one before, if you have any words of wisdom from lessons learned. I also have never replaced a heatsink before, so are there any tips or tricks to removing the existing thermal paste? - JHunter
  17. Haha, that may not be a compelling argument to everyone, Jeff. However, I would have to agree. - JHunter
  18. Do they accurately provide defense against IED's? By that, I mean, do they actually take less damage from explosions underneath them? If so, might be worth it... if not, its just another HMMWV with a few extra seats. - JHunter
  19. I'd have to disagree with you there, Peter. There is ample opportunity to play this scenario tactically. I am inclined to say that with no tactics at all, you are certainly destined to fail. There is quite a bit to take into consideration. The mission at hand, the restrictions put in place by the mission maker, as well as the mechanics of the scenario all need to be taken into consideration when accepting and executing a mission. To be honest, I am quite mystified by the reluctance of many in our community to give this scenario a try. It is drastically different from Domination, but I for one, find that very refreshing. I might be biased, as I have been working with Zeno on doing modifications for both Domination as well as WIT, but the way WIT was coded and designed is absolute genious. It is extremely well made and I really like the way it plays. I sincerely hope that you all give this a try and play it the way it was meant to be played. - JHunter
  20. Soooo... AAR for tonight. I think a lot of things went well but there were certainly a lot of things that could have gone much better. 1. Communication Almost always an issue when it comes to Tac Nights. From my perspective as a simple squad member, not being in a leadership role, I was in the dark as to the goal the whole night. I'm not sure if there were objectives and/or orders put out from "higher", but information was not being disseminated down the chain. Also, from within the squad, we have to pull in the reigns on the chatter and overall radio discipline. There was an excessive amount of useless information being transmitted. When you transmit, say who you are, who you are addressing, and then your message. This became particularly bad after we collapsed the squads down to one TeamSpeak channel. It was madness. 2. Time management From the very beginning, 5 minutes prior to our scheduled start time, we had people finding out that their game was not properly patched to the correct version. That kind of thing is something you should have sorted out will in advance, if you commit to a Tac Night. We didn't even roll out of the FOB for the first mission until 8:50, by my clock. No way should it take almost an hour to organize 15 people and send them out the gates. 3. Mission Selection I'm not sure what happened with the War in Takistan mission. I know this was our first go at using this scenario, but we certainly have some bugs to work out with that one. I could have very well missed something, but from what I saw, we got the "Mission success" notification immediately followed by the "You lost the war" cinematic. As for the Insurgency port to Fallujah, it still needs a lot of work. I thoroughly enjoyed Insurgency when I played it on Zargabad, but wanted to pull my hair out while in Fallujah. I'm not sure what exactly it needs, but there is definitely a balance issue with this map. Perhaps making the "squares" bigger or some how changing the AI's spawn behavior... I'm not sure. 4. Overall Ultimately, I think we did very well with what we were given. We can only get better from here on out and hope to see many more planned events in the future. Props to Frenchie for the organizing efforts. - JHunter P.S. for Zeno - In case I don't see you before I log off, "[FR] join us: ts.air-command.org:9987 pass: ackillaz"
  21. Glad it worked out for you, Fatal. I'm not trying to advise either way, you seem to have it figured out what you want, but should you run into this dilemma again where you're looking for an alternative, check out this host: iPage Hosting Its cheap, but its not "get what you pay for". By that, I mean, its actually quite good. I use them to host a page for a work website. However, I personally rent space through Mediatemple Hosting. It is expensive and far more than you what you need for your project, but I hardly use mine at all anymore. So if you'd like, I can give you some space on there to give it a try. I will tell you, setting up a WordPress on your own is very simple. So that shouldn't be your worry. So to answer your initial question, I can help you with web related matters. I am not great at making things "look pretty", but I am pretty good at writing back-end PHP scripts. - JHunter
  22. Don't worry about it, Batwing. I am equally skeptical about the wounds system. It will be trial by fire. Some will like it, others will not. Either way it goes, there should NOT be any labels or names thrown about merely based on someone's opinion. They're not asking you to change your own opinion, just please respect theirs. - JHunter
