  1. Noob, do you really hate everything in this world or just troll on any positive opinion of something? - JHunter
  2. Spam thread! Haha Thanks for all the kind words, guys. For those who don't know yet, I will be deploying in two weeks, so I won't be around much for at least a year. I use the word "deploying" loosely, as I am only going to be in Kuwait, most likely. I will still be around on the forums and TeamSpeak, when I can. Gaming will probably be the most limited though. "Catch ya on the flip side". - JHunter P.S. - Kudos if you get the movie quote.
  3. Happy birthday, guys! Ya'll figure out who gets which one. - JHunter
  4. Hey Louis, good to see ya bud. It has been quite awhile since we've seen you around, glad you're back. We haven't been doing TacDom for quite some time now. With the new games coming out, pulling people away from Arma, we just haven't had the population to support it. However, we did give it a go last weekend and had a pretty good turnout, so we may start getting back into TacDom again, but no promises. And of course we're all excited about Arma 3. There's a whole forum thread on it, I'm sure you can find it. - JHunter
  5. To all the Dad's out there... hope you have a good day with the family. - JHunter
  6. I wasn't directing that directly at you, Gunthar. That was a general, blanket statement. Nor do I fault you for reinforcing the request for them to quiet down. For some people, yelling and cursing at them is the only thing they respond to. I'm sure we all know people like that. That that being said, however, I'd like to point out that in the same thread here we're complaining about people cussing, yelling at each other, and generally "bitching" in channel. We don't have a foot to stand on if we are also behaving in the same way; even if we are "justified" in our actions. That's just my two cents, take it for what it's worth. - JHunter
  7. If I'm around, I'm definitely up for it. I'll probably be out in Baltimore for the 200 year celebration of the War of 1812 at least one of the days, but I'm not sure how late we'll be staying out. If you have an idea of what missions and/or server configurations you'll be needing, we can get it all ready before hand. - JHunter P.S. - For those of you in driving distance should check out the stuff going on in Baltimore. A lot of cool events happening. http://www.starspangled200.com/
  8. I am truly disheartened that we even need to have threads like this. I'm going to pick out a few statements to address... Every member of the community, whether they be a tagged Spartan or not, is charged with this responsibility. It takes every single one of us to keep this a place where people -want- to be. The admins and moderators are only there to deal with those individuals that need "special" attention. Our TS currently has 53 permanent channels, 15 of which are in the "Arma 2" section. If you need to split up groups, do it. You don't need a specific channel labeled for the exact activity you're engaged in. The TacDom channels are still there, by all means use them. If you want people to act professionally, then you must exhibit that yourself. People will respond to you in the manner in which you addressed them. Just keep in mind that they may be in the heat of the moment. If they're heated and stressed out, let them cool off before trying to have a talk with them. Racial slurs will absolutely not be tolerated here. First offense, kick them out and make it clear to the individual and everyone present we do not allow that. Second offense, they get banned. It's that simple. Cursing is going to happen. If someone starts getting carried away, its perfectly ok to tell them to chill out. If they persist, you can ask them to leave the channel on their own accord. If they're just not getting it and their behavior continues, then kick them. TLDR Version - If you were given an "ability" or "power" in TeamSpeak, do not be afraid to use it. You would not have it if we didn't want you to use it when appropriate. Just use your best judgement. - JHunter
  9. Viiiper, what kind of read/write speed do you get on your NAS? The parity check completed this morning and I've begun moving my data over. - JHunter
  10. Parts just got delivered today, will be setting it up when I get home. From the reviews I saw, will probably take about 24 hours for the NAS to parity check all four drives and make them available to start transferring data off of the old external HDD. - JHunter
  11. I was going to post a picture of my wife... but she didn't appreciate that idea for some reason. I just don't understand women. - JHunter
  12. Sweet, order placed. 1x Synology DS411j 4x Samsung 2TB Drives (Will give me 6TB of usable storage on the NAS) 1x APC BE750G UPS Thanks for the input guys. - JHunter
  13. Viiiper, I did consider dual NIC's for link aggregation. However, without getting into the pricier NAS options with more powerful processors and more RAM, I don't foresee the need. The redundancy is nice, but with the DS411j having only a 1.2 GHz CPU and 128 MB of RAM, I doubt it would max out the gigabit ethernet port anyway. Good point about the UPS, though, I hadn't considered that. Synology's website lists far more Cyberpower UPS models on their known compatibility list... anyone have experience with them? I only have experience with APC, personally. - JHunter
  14. The Synology Hybrid Raid does just that. In their own words: - JHunter
  15. So, I'm back looking to purchasing a NAS. My 4TB external HDD is down to its last TB of free space and I've been growing skeptical of its remaining lifespan. I think I've found a NAS that suits my needs pretty well. Figured I'd run it past you guys to see what input or advice you have to offer. Features that I was looking for: 4 disk bays 4TB drive capability (I don't want to have to replace this thing for quite some time) RAID support Media streaming (DNLA required; Web was on the wishlist) Remote access Try to stay under $500 I think I've decided on the Synology DS411j. Available on Newegg for $360 (diskless). Bonus features I really like about the DS411j: Mobile device support and apps Integrated download center (torrent, NZB, FTP, HTTP, and eMule) Multiple user accounts with variable access privileges Not only backs up PC's, but then can back itself up onto another NAS or to an external HDD Built in web server with PHP and MySQL Can serve as a DVR for IP Cameras Synology provides a free DDNS service Various others; Check out the product page for full feature list (Be sure to read about the Synology Hybrid RAID, pretty sweet stuff) So yea. There's that. Let me hear your thoughts, suggestions, advice, etc. If you know of a better product or have bad experience with Synology, I'd like to hear that too. Thanks guys. - JHunter
  16. Made these last weekend... they turned out pretty good. Incredibly easy to do, also. Jolly Rancher Vodka - JHunter
  17. You're not wrong, Zeno. Haha. Semi-unrelated, saw this picture today... seems appropriate to post here. - JHunter
  18. Athlon, you talk a lot of junk about "media reporters" and not believing what we read on the internet... so please share with us where you are getting your information that has you so convinced that AMD has the superior product. As for the overall discussion, I am neutral. I have had both Intel and AMD products; I didn't have a negative experience with either. As for comparing these two particular chips, I really couldn't give a less of a shit. I do not (and will not, for the foreseeable future) need a six or eight core processor. The most modern day games are just starting to scratch the surface on utilizing more than a single core. The majority of the time this Intel vs. AMD argument comes up is like watching two kids on the playground fighting about who's father is the bigger badass. You sound ridiculous. - JHunter
  19. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Let's just not forget what it is truly all about. - JHunter
  20. That was pretty good. Nice find, Batwing. - JHunter
  21. Picked up the GR bundle deal on Steam yesterday. Downloading your links now, Dai. Still can pick them all up for $20 through May 21st. Steam GR Sale - JHunter Edit: Is there anything else I should download? First time playing.
  22. Happy birthday, Adder! - JHunter P.S. - Finding attractive women in the same picture as a helicopter is not as easy as it should be. Perhaps your crew should make some stops at places such as Hooters or the Playboy Mansion and fix this for us.
