    I dont have the time to do the research but I will say this...

     

    If AMDs new 8 core behaves like the old one did, acting and operating as a 4 core device then I don't care how many gigahertz it runs at.

     

    I love AMD but I drive an intel...Why? Primarly AMDs marketing department and their lack of touch with reality. The old bulldozers were at best equivalant to an i5.

     

     

    Remember... when building a computer it is the whole package that makes the differance. One great part can help, yes, but it is all about reducing bottlenecks. 5ghz is awesome but if it is on the current FSBs then you will NEVER see the performance difference over the previous generation. One must feed the beast to have a BEAST.

    I worked my ass off all summer to by it for the then pricey sum of $70. I think dad loaned me the money to cover the tax. The year was 1986.

     

    When I joined the Army in 97 I stored it in the closet of my room. Though I have looked for it many times, I have not seen it since, until tonight. I found it at the bottom of a box while I was looking for a spare mouse pad! Funny how things work out.

     

    I stored it without the batteries and it is in great shape that I can tell. I intend to test it out tomorrow.

    Bonus... these things are worth WAY more than the price I paid for it...

    Chinese sub surfaces in the middle of US navy exercise. "One Nato figure said the effect was 'as big a shock as the Russians launching Sputnik'"

    Over blown by the media and of little consern.

    Point 1. Diesel electric subs are well known for being much quieter than their nuclear powered brethern. The fact that it snuck within range is not a supprise at all too me.

     

    Point 2. These things are limited by the range of their batteries. once depleted they have to recharge on the surface or snorkel making them both detectable and vunerable. I bet that is the reason that he surfaced... not bragging rights. It would be more advantagious to the chinese to keep secret there ablity to penitrate the defences of an enemy.
