  1. I remember hearing about the sniping a while back. I can't wait to try it out.

Sniping now is very awesome. Far more realistic. More challenging, but worth it. Two man sniper team would be pretty awesome in tacdom. I absolutely love using suppressed sniper weapons now. I've got a spot in one of my missions, 5 insurgents on patrol at this house, standing watch, etc, and an insurgent leader sitting in the driver seat of a toyota hilux (the target) I post up on a hill, calculate range, windage, etc, and fire, killing the guy in the hilux. And none of the other guys get alerted. Occasionally they do, from a missed shot hitting the body of the truck, but I read with ACE mod, subsonic ammo actually keeps your shots quiet. Before, even using SD guns and ammo, they'd still hear and find you quickly.

  2. So far I'm loving it. I like the option to carry two primary weapons in single player missons, like in DOM. I'm sure there was a code to do that in single player missions, but I never could find it. The RUCK sack is an awesome feature as well. Lets you store a BUNCH of magazines. I can go in with 12 30rd mags in main inventory, stash 12+ more in my pack, among smoke nades etc. The effects you get from standing too close to another soldier that fires a weapon is deafening. I had my speakers up pretty good, and my clownshoes AI squad member fired his SMAW right by me, and it was incredible to say the least. Deafening loud, hurt my ears for real. Enemy soldier up the hill from me started shooting our way, and it felt like I was actually taking fire. I actually disabled VopSound, because I'm really liking the ACE sound set a little better. Love the new M4 and M16 variants, updated with the new Aimpoint Comp M4S, couple with vert grips. Has a suppressed Mk12 SPR, which I desperately wanted. Now it's possible to go all out suppressed. I disabled my other Littlebird addon, because the ACE littlebirds are better in my opinion, especially loving the one with the GAU-19. My only gripe so far, is the ridiculous install procedure.

Love this M4, set up almost exactly like my real M4, same Knights Armament railed guards, Knights vert grip, Magpul MIAD pistol grip, stock, even the Troy rear flip sight. I just have a Surefire light instead of the laser / IR unit on the right.

  3. Agreed - do we still have the paradrops in all the towns?

    If so remove.

Agreed fully. Doesn't have to be total tactical, but there does need to be a LOT more organization on regular DOM. And like lightspeed said there, either remove the para poles from the completed AO's, or put a 10 minute time limit to be able to use them once the AO has been cleared. TOO many people are jumping right to the new AO for the first and most kills. This isn't about who has the most kills. And I know us regulars know that already. It's about teamwork, and that aspect alone to me, is the most fun. While the rest of us are waiting for evac, the guys that dropped to the new main already have it pretty much cleared up by the time the patient folk get there. Very frustrating.

  4. Not to mention the A-10 sounds virtually like the real life counterpart. Explosions are incredible, and the sound explosions make from a far distance totally immerses you in the game. Low, dull, rumbling echos. This is how the A10 and distant explosions should sound with VOP. Turn your speakers up. Incredible.

  5. I have changed this thread to the mod request thread and it is now pinned

VOP 2.1 has been added to the approved list for signature verification

Please do not ask for every single little mod to be added, lets try to all be playing the same game.

I will post a new topic indicating which Mods will be allowed on the Sparta servers

Awesome, thanks for adding VOP Zeno. Will be even more enjoyable to play online now.

  6. I would like to at least be able to use VopSound. It really makes a world of difference, and distinguishing each weapon by sound is far more better. Not to mention the A-10 sounds incredible with vopsound.

  7. Anyone ever fire a GSG-5? There are no outdoor ranges within an hours driving distance of me (so I wouldn't get to fire my AR-15 very often should I buy one) and someone told me the GSGs can at least be fired at indoor ranges. This same person sold their AR-15 because he never got to shoot it. Though if I had known him when he sold it I probably would have bought it. It only fires .22LRs and I've never really been a fan of the MP5 look but at least I'd be able to fire it at the local indoor gun range.

Never fired one, but have seen and fondled them at local gun shows. You can fire the GSG-5 at indoor ranges, since it's pistol caliber. Most indoor ranges aren't set up for the high velocities of rifle cartridges, but a few are. My FN FiveseveN, even though it's a pistol, can't be fired at indoor ranges, since it shoots the same round as the P90. That round reaches velocities upwards of 2100fps, even out of the pistol. So that's a def no no for indoor ranges. And you won't regret buying an AR-15, even if you don't get to shoot it a whole lot. I haven't shot my M4 in like, 6 months, and I will never part with it.

  8. I used to play the original 8bit Activision Mechwarrior game. For its time it rocked!

Only problem was, it was created before the advent of timing loops... so if you tried to run it on a 486 DX2/66 like i did, for example, the mission was over before it even started, with an explosion and flash of color... since the game would run at the clock speed of the computer...:)

So, replayability wasnt that great.. but back on my 8088XT 4.77mhz (640kb RAM) speed demon (it had a turbo switch to go to 8mhz!) we played that game endlessly.

Right there with ya. I played the same one religiously growing up. Then updated computers, and it was no longer playable. It'd play, but mechs would run about 18,000mph haha. Can't wait for this new one.
