  1. Just wanted to ask if you guys have had any problems with people running the hack scripts?

I had a guy up at about 15 days old, equipped pretty well, before I got killed by a hack. Then twice more within the next twenty four hours.

I know that there's been a ban wave since then, but I'm still reading reports about the Thunderdome hack and such...was wondering if you guys have had problems with it as well - since the hackers seem to target high population servers.

  2. Server should be up and running okay now.

I will be reseting it again at ~5:00pm CST and that should take care of any lingering problems. Camo and Ghillie suit issues should be fixed now.

Phisher - did they remove camo clothing and ghillie suits from the loot table? Been a long time since I've seen any spawn.

Lost my tent during the update of the server, but oh well, kind of the nature of the beast I guess.

  3. They are doing server upgrades right now, moving everything over to IvyBridge. Looks like a lot of servers are having desync issues right now as well.

From the posts they've left on the DayZ boards, they seem completely out of their depths - the sudden influx of business, well they probably can't handle it.

Wish they'd just suck it up, say they're sorry, and get to work updating the hive files like they're supposed to.

  4. I read the PC Gamer article on this.

I think the features they are promising are pretty steep and it will be interesting to see if they can deliver.

If they can it would be great, but healthy competition is best.

I'd hope that competition just makes both of them work a little harder.

It seems a little odd that they've been working on this for a while with no press, but it could be that with the response to DayZ they thought it would be a good opportunity to get the word out. Thing is, they could also be full of crap. :) A friend of mine in the early 90s was with a company that started an online beta called Confirmed Kill that they partnered with Domark with. Domark was really good at claiming credit for the project and were kind of poleaxed when the team doing the development told them to piss up a rope and went with another company's graphic engine. Domark then went on a PR campaign (taking the name Confirmed Kill with them) and saying they were the real force behind the project (When the ARMA vs OFP:DR kerfuffle came up my friend's story came to mind). Finally a year or so later the news slowly leaked out that they were terminating the Confirmed Kill project. They went on to great things with Tomb Raider, not sure if they ever got back into simulation. My friends company renamed their project warbirds.

But thing is just because someone throws up some (concept?) pictures doesn't mean that there's necessarily a mature project behind the smoke and mirrors.

  5. Is there a problem with the server? Since last night seems I've been getting stuck at "waiting for host" but not getting in.

Is there a problem with the latest ARMA beta? Previous version was running great, and then yesterday 92508 seemed to change that.

  6. Awesome.

My first was MS Flight Simulator. It ran on a mac. Came on a floppy. Things have improved.

Mine was Sublogic Flight Simulator on an Apple IIe. You whippersnappers...! Off my lawn!

  7. patch updated .

Zombs ar Frozen for me , but was still on the same location ..

    greetz

Well, I updated it but later rolled back to 1.7.1.5

I spawned once on a marshy island and had to swim for it. As I swam towards shore you could see the zombies turning to face my direction. It was spooky.

Problem is, they can perceive you really really easily. I think that 1.7.1.5 made the zombies too easy to evade, but the new detection system seems to have almost swung the balance back to 1.7 (?) where the zombie aggro issues were way out of hand. This, to me, is almost as bad. Probably not so bad when you're armed but just starting out it is brutal.

  8. I watched that video and thought to myself "Damn if that doesn't look like ARMA2..."

Went to my buddy Mr. Google and found this:

    Interesting time.

Long time flight sim geek, but when I met my wife it was only a matter of time till I gave away my CH Fighterstick, throttle and rudder pedals. I used to play this online WWII sim called Warbirds but the management managed to utterly screw that up when they pissed off the original developers enough that they left en masse and the game started to stink to high heaven. But I was a dedicated P51 pilot so seeing this sim makes me happy though I doubt I have the computer horsepower to run this new sim.

I guess I'll live vicariously through the Youtube vids of others. :P

    Pending Hotfix: Build 1.7.1.5

ETA is 6 to 24 hours

All our builds go through a closed test procedure, but we know there will be issues when introduced to ten thousand players. Many of the big bugs relate to things that need to be adjusted in the engine - they are not mod issues. Nevertheless they do get looked into to see if there are options.

    Current Changelog for 1.7.1.5

    * [NEW] Infected raycast for line-of-sight less often (improves performance)

    * [FIXED] Infected can see through terrain ( https://dev-heaven.net/issues/33787 )

    * [FIXED] Raycasting being taken from wrong body position (ensured it is from eye level)

    * [FIXED] Infected sometimes spawn close to a player (previous check once, now up to ten times)

    * [NEW] Infected bodies will despawn after x minute(s) of their death (improves performance)

    * [FIXED] Sometimes infected will stand still after loosing line-of-sight ( https://dev-heaven.net/issues/33715 )

    * [FIXED] Can dupe tent's by right clicking (forgot to close the window)

    * [FIXED] Poor performance caused by infected search behavior (MAJOR performance increase during closed testing)

    * [FIXED] Audibility is far to high (completely rebalanced, in line with how it was in previous updates)

    * [FIXED] Can dupe food during cooking if click really fast (now you cannot)

  10. Just a heads up I got an email from HFB saying that our server was locked or passworded and if it happens again it will likely be taken down.

I have changed the in-game password and will only be sharing it with 1 or 2 individuals.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I tried to get onto your DayZ server and got booted before character generation.

  11. So have you guys been on line since 1.7.1?

I have only been playing a couple of days since I got back from vacation and my guy who had the cool stuff (for me anyway lol) died and I respawned with a bandage and some beans. I am having very little success with the new super aggro zombies, especially being unarmed. I can't sneak past them at all!

Any tips for dealing with the new version?

  12. Fish.....the always lonesome sniper with the Hollywood voice?!

Hmmm...I am from California but don't think I've ever had a Hollywood voice. :D

  13. What these guys said.

Looking forward to coming back to ArmA and hanging with you fellas.

Yeah, me too. Been busy at school for the last couple years and had no time for ARMA. ARMA3 sounds awesome.

Guess I'll have to start saving my change up for a new system.

  14.

Whoops. Thanks for adding the link Halo!

I'm really enjoying this, but you need to contact the devs for a beta key before you can access. The game itself is down until September 1st or so, when I think they're bring up their US servers. I was on the EU beta, and game was pretty good most of the time - pingws were about 200- 250 ms. Looking forward to the US servers having lower pings.

  15. Actually a semi-3rd person tank game using Soviet and German (and soon US) WWII era tanks.

Basically a grind of experience / credits are used to upgrade your tanks with better kit - suspension, radio, motors, weapons etc in what is currently a 15 v 15 arena style play which can be approached as capture the flag or kill 'em all gameplay.

I got sucked in a couple of weeks ago, I guess the compulsive part of my makeup decided I needed the bigger and better tanks to be competitive. Also has been a lot of fun.

Now it's on a week hiatus as they patch the game - theroetically opening the US tank tree in the process.

Don't know that it'll appeal to everyone, but I thought it was great.

  16. Hi Guys-

This may be old news, but I had just read that the group of modders who developed the Project Reality mods for BF2 are now working on a beta for an ARMA version.

Personally, I have no experience with BF2 opr the PR mod, and I was wondering if any of you guys did.

From my reading it seems that PR tries to build a balanced environment for T v T battles with minimum AI involvement, as well as stripping out the crutches like the AI calling out enemy contacts.

So, have any of you had any experience with it? I can't help but think that a fresh take on some of the issues addressed by the ACE team might be positive.

Would love to hear any comments you guys might have.
