  1. ggz guys and noticeable improvement on comms and team movement - very enjoyable.

I dont know if its my Ghost Recon days but i do prefer to move in on a village and work my way through clearing it - I dont like to sit back and pick tangoes off one by one - I want to be in the thick of it. Haven't completely settled on a class yet - squad leader, AT, or Artillery are my main focus. Load out varies a bit but always like to pack 2 SMAWs minimum (although if I only have 2 I'll tend to hold one back for a tight situation where Im pinned by armor). I normally like to go in with a small fire team (2-5 players) not too many to get out of hand but just enough to cover all the angles and stay focused. I have several favoured players for this - they just know what I'm thinking.
  3. hi ping? when you play in Australia on US server then you know high ping - i will usually lead a target by 30 seconds so by the time he arrives the bullet is just passing. not but seriously, despite a high ping i find very little latency and can drop targets easily. damn good server that US server.

Hi JC ggz today on the server - nice to see a new face who likes to play the way we like to play. you'll have to join us for some tactical domination on friday night (US time), or morning in Australia (correct time). interesting chopper ride ;) but a little practice - i never bother to fly them unless needed - prefer to do my work on the ground. lots of tips and tricks for Arma2 - i think we all learn something new each week. see you round
  5. ah you know what - theres a bunch of good guys to play with on the server - you know you can form a team with them and you're going to have fun and get the job done.

  7. cheers - i think most ppl will end up buying this - loads of potential here - worth the spend. and as you say - you still have Arma2 as well - you cant lose
  8. Well said Zeno - I have been thinking about this too. My feelings - Commander reporting goes like this - Commander to Squad Leaders,....... (finish with 'over' if you require a response, or 'out' if you require no response). Squad Leader reporting - Alpha Squad to Commander (or Bravo) (or All Units).............over (or out). __________________ Commander issues plan of attack with his Squad Leaders - it cant be overly complex - more like a "move from waypoint A to waypoint B and call in when at this location. Weapons yellow. Report back when objective reached." That's it - no need for Commander to check progress every 30 seconds. The Squads are competent and need the freedom to use their own skill to achieve objective/reach target. Only if Commander requires a change of plan should he use Comms - Squad Leaders are already handling half a dozen other men on their squad. Alternatively, if Squad Leader needs to report in some important intel or requires support they can then radio in to Command. A waypoint should be set as a Map Marker or a Squad Leader should update map with Marker to show current position so we don't need to check in to see where a Squad is located. Second Proposal - When a Squad Member needs to use comms - you give your name first and who you are talking to. "Lightspeed to Squad Leader................" (not "I see an tango", who the *&^% is I - it could be anyone in your squad!) Do not jam up comms and think before you speak - better to be clear and concise then dribble out meaningless words. 5 well chosen words can be more effective then 20 unclear words. Remember - if you need a response you end comms with "over" - no response then end comms with "out". Simple but worth knowing if you dont already. Another proposal - If you are commanding a Squad you issue this warning to your Squad to members who are not listening to orders or who are pushing out too far ahead. If you continue to disobey commands or stray too far from your Squad you WILL NOT GET A REVIVE - we are a team. That could be the warning prior to the mission starting so everyone knows what the penalty will be for trying to be a one man show. There were a couple of occasions today when my Squad strayed but I just took note and stayed calm. Having said that, I had to risk the lives of other members to carry out a rescue and I won't be getting into the habit of losing my men to those who can't obey orders. 'nuff said. All in all, it's a lot of fun and on several insertions the result was outstanding. Great teamwork and good coordination. Lighty
  9. I overheard someone in the server tonight saying that the title for this event is misleading. It makes no mention of it being "Infantry Only" so some players thought they could use vehicles tactically. I think this needs to be made clear.
  10. wasnt sure of the price of the Quad - but if theyre cheap then yes buy one which will cover your for 2 - 4 years. i used to do the patchy upgrades but you realize you're just throwing good money after bad. better to save your pennies and buy a rig which will be upgradeable into the future. AGP is dead - do not waste your cash patching to keep the AGP running.
  11. You do not need a QuadCore viiper sorry - games dont need that power. Get a DualCore and you must switch to PCI-E mobo. Quad Core still not required for another year or 2 and by then prices will have fallen - just make sure mobo is quad core compatible which should be default. Main focus should be minimum 2 gig of cpu ram and a PCI-E video card with 1 gig of ram. www.tomshardware.com for best reviews and best price for performance reviews.   14. well mate i just spent half an hour reading this post from start to finish - amazing work and dedication+ - I'm sure theres more then a few ppl who started a project like this and gave up somewhere down the track. its a beautiful beast and looks like i joined in this thread at the right time - the finished line is looking fairly close now. great work.
  15. I think thats a great idea Kille - add another element to the game - closer to realism...as long as we all agree that the scouts may only mark a safe LZ, pop smoke and provide recon. I really think this is a good idea and again it's pushing us closer to realism. @ Custard - thats what he means - when we have the next red zone on map - we send in several scouts via paradrop as the rest of the team prepares for the chopper ride to the red zone.

  17. is it possible to restrict use of choppers to certain people or classes so you dont have fools rushing in flying off with the choppers as happens in the public? if these fools occupy the pilot class admins can ask them to move out of them to make way for the intelligent and approved pilots or get booted.

  19. scrap the Paradrops perhaps - i am guilty of this too now bcoz im tired of getting to the next red zone and finding that several guys before have cleared the area - so im trying to get their first now. no paradrops then we all wait for chopper and go in as one team

  21. Doesnt seem like it would make sense to run 4 player servers. I hear through the grapevine that MP will be more players and great gametypes - not sure if this is true. Nevertheless, Im a coop diehard now. Any ideas yet?
  22. looks like GRAW - gimme a break - GRAW had one setting - bright and and sandy - with or without night. This has incredible variation and loads of ambience - and will blow Arma2 away visually as well (not even worth comparing the two games - chalk and cheese)
