  1. New survival game coming out this year (early access, naturally). Some of you have seen the first trailer for it, this trailer actually makes me want to play it though. If it looks that good/fluid at release I'll probably pick it up. Someone on Reddit described it as Minecraft + Far Cry 3 + Crazy Demon People. Apt description I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08s__Fg8d3A
  2. Standalone. Much better than the mod.
  3. Looks good. 107 degrees seems a tad high though. I try to keep mine at below 80 even at full load. Won't necessarily hurt anything (depends on the card) but I try not to break triple digits when it comes to temps. I'd suggest configuring your fan speeds so they kick in at a lower temperature and keep the card cooler. Glad to hear everything is working for ya though. On an unrelated note: One day I want to get a case with built-in docking capabilities for hard-drives/ssds. I'm tired of having to manually connect/disconnect SATA data and power cables when swapping drives.
  4. And thus that was the last anyone saw of poor EMT.
  5. Ah ok gotcha. I misunderstood. Yeah I wouldn't want to take a dremel or saw to a brand new $130 case either.
  6. The Xigmatek is going for $165 on Newegg right now (though it's the black model, not the silver one) which is only $25 more than the Thermaltake: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811815011 That one can definitely accommodate an interior top-mounted radiator. And if you only put 3 fans on it, it doesn't even come past the edge of the motherboard. Though if you use 6 fans (3 on top 3 on bottom of the radiator) the bottom rear fan may get in the way of one specific cable as it overhangs the motherboard just a tad. I thought about cutting a notch in the fan housing to fix it but instead decided to just leave that one fan off and use 5 fans. But that's a problem specific to my motherboard I think, most of them don't have that particular cable on the very top of the mobo. It has plenty of room for whatever RAM I wanted to use though, included those with large heatsinks. I'm using Corsair Vengeance RAM which has a small heatsink on it. There's a good 3/4's inch of space between the edge of the RAM and the bottom fan on the radiator. Just giving you a heads up. Otherwise, good luck with your modifications on the Thermaltake. Personally though, if I drop $140 on a case, I wouldn't want to have to modify it to make it work.
  7. I finally managed to get first in all global challenges (thanks for the Agera tip Zeno! It's an awesome car) I still messed up a bunch on a few though so shouldn't be too hard to beat my scores. I didn't win by much. Driving the Volkswagen Golf R on Okutama was like night and day compared to the Skyline. Guess I know my new favorite T2 car.
  8. So close! I had a feeling Zeno was using an upgraded Atom. His ghost car would always outpace me on straights no matter what I did, so I got to know the inner walls of the track real well trying to catch up in the corners. I've been trying to get golds in all of the global challenges (ok so I've been trying to beat all the high scores too ). I think I only have a Chicago powerlap left to beat. My Veyron just can't keep up. I was hoping to get 1st place in everything before you or Zeno came back and reclaimed your positions. The drift courses are amazingly fun (and incredibly frustrating at times). I'm disappointed I still can't upgrade even a Tier 1 car. I'm level 4 and have to be level 5. It's been slow progress (can't find many good lobbies to race in).
  9. I second Ender's Game. Great book. Rest of the series is good as well, but diverts quite a bit from the original and becomes more philosophical/scientific. The Ender's Shadow series (which parallels the Ender's Game series from the POV of another character) stays more true to the militaristic aspects. I still consider Michael Crichton to be one of my more favored authors. If you haven't read any of his books, you are missing out. They all focus on vastly different criteria so there's a lot to chose from--though most could probably be described as "techno-thrillers". What I like about his writing is that he is fairly technical and researches his topics thoroughly. Some of the more technical stuff may be a tad dated now (but still holds up well). Jurassic Park / Lost World Both classics, especially having seen the movie as a child. Still one of my favorite movies/books. Timeline Group time travels to the medieval era and tries to survive. Amazing book, crappy movie. Prey A swarm of nanobots escapes a remote research facility. Similar to Jurassic Park, it centers around the scientists trying to contain the outbreak and destroy the swarm. The Andromeda Strain A fallen satellite outside a small desert town contains a mysterious microorganism that proves fatal to those that come in contact with it. Eaters of the Dead Great book. Follows a Muslim and his journey with the Vikings to their settlement. Based partly on Ahmad ibn Fadlan's actual accounts of his journey north and partly on Beowulf. Pirate Latitudes Published posthumously, still a great book if you are at all interested in pirates or that general era. Sphere Yet another novel of his that was turned into a movie. Spaceship is discovered on the bottom of the ocean and the government sends in a group to investigate. Decent book. Next Another novel centered on the attempt to survive in a world dominated by genetic research and corporate greed. Set in present times, sort of a "what if" scenario. Airframe Quality Assurance VP investigates an aircraft in-flight accident that leaves three dead and fifty-six injured. Haven't read this one in a long time, so memory is a bit hazy. Will need to reread it soon. Think of it as an industrial espionage-style novel The Great Train Robbery Haven't read it yet, heard it's excellent. Been meaning to pick it up. Involves a train heist in Victorian-era England. I'll have to try out The Skystone, Durka. Sounds interesting. I've noticed as time goes on I'm getting more and more fond of historical fiction (and history in general)
  10. That Thermaltake case resembles mine, a Xigmatek Elysium. Best case I've ever owned, but it's massive (it's technically made to fit a dual-CPU mobo). It has (optional) rollers on the bottom to help with sliding it around. I have a 360mm radiator attached to the inside of the upper grille with 6 fans in push/pull. It also has a top HDD swap bay and USB 3.0 jacks. Great case, especially for water cooling (more than enough space for anything you could want). I could definitely fit a few more radiators on the inside if I ever actually needed them. They have different versions with either black/aluminum trim and with/without the side window. Here's a close up of the HDD dock. P.S. - You still running Vista? Man you need to get Win7 at least
  11. Because the game is only 720p anyway so it'll look like crap regardless. Can't wait for 1080p on the PC version.
  12. 1. Move PS3 to PC. 2. Connect PS3 to second monitor 3. Plug PS3 A/V cable into PC line-in w/ RCA->3.5mm adapter 4. ??? 5. Profit
  13. Anyone here buy GTA V for the PS3? Played multiplayer last night and had a blast (once I got past the damn bugged starting tutorial). If anyone wants to play let me know. I know most people are waiting for the PC version, which I will be getting as well. For now though I'll be playing on my PS3. My PSN username is xenocidalfate. P.S. - I know a way to get any PC headset to work as both audio output and microphone input for the PS3, without connecting the headset to the PS3. So you can hear in-game talk/audio in GTA as well as Teamspeak on your PC, etc. and call talk to both. It involves hooking up the PS3 to the line-in/line-out on your PC. For those interested, let me know.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPVWy1tFXuc&feature=share Release Date: December 13, 2013 (US/UK) Looks great, can't wait. Going to be disappointing when the third and final movie ends. Not a lot of good fantasy is released in theaters anymore in my opinion.
  15. Kal, we already have a Git repo for the map along with SpartaLib and various other projects. I'll send you a PM with specifics (unless that's what you meant by Git Hub, though we use Bitbucket.)
  16. Messed with the map some. Added UGV MHQ. Changed MHQ names to MHQ Alpha, MHQ Bravo, MHQ UGV. Fixed UGV MHQ so that you can connect to it after it respawns. Also added that code to aw_unitSetup and vehicle scripts just in case some other UAVs don't get setup. Not sure if the UAV respawn bug was present as I didn't test it, but should definitely be fixed after that. Added Commander slot. Spawns under camo net with the UGV MHQ, and can control it. Can also use the quadcopter to scout the AO (really useful for reconnaissance). Kal, I'll upload my changes to the Git repo. I assume Tyler told you about that, if not let me know and I'll give you the details.
  17. No longer true. Whitelist works with both vehicle classname and vehicle variable name (which is West_MHQ etc in map). Also, access list doesn't work on UAVs yet so its a moot point. I wouldn't mind having a UGV MHQ though. I like that idea. Connect to it, drop it off a few klicks outside AO, and let it move in closer on its own. Just make it liftable by the MH-9 please.
  18. Played the Alpha. Wasn't thrilled. Hopefully they've made it a lot better since then.
