  1. Well, his card is still letting me on internet. at least there's that much it can do. But when it's comes to gaming it locks up with all sorts of colors on the screen. I don't know much about computers. Thank god, My buddy is a computer tech. And he was here yesterday when this all started to happen. After he check everything out he said stay away from gaming and just use your computer for the internet. Easy for him to say haha. I was just starting to like being a heli pilot.

     

    Anyways, I should be back on Wednesday or Thursday.

     

    Sounds like the classic overheating problem to me.

I would like to add that for the past week or two I haven't been able to indirectly fire artillery on any class (I've tried every class) including the classes that I used to indirectly fire artillery on. I simply cannot get the Target Artillery option to appear in my action menu. I'm not sure whether this is just me or if this is a problem with others also, but I figured I'd address it nonetheless.

     

    Well it is kind of random, due to the fact that the reason only certain classes seem to be able to do it is because the artillery pieces are not synced to the artillery module properly. It's hit or miss. If they were synced, everyone could fire them indirectly. This is why I've added two M119s that spawn at base and are synced, so they can be used by anyone. Unfortunately I can't fix the airdropped M119s to work this way because all synchronizations are "set in stone" so to speak within a few seconds of the map loading (at least according to some people on the BIS forums, but my own testing seems to show the same result).

  3. Excellent. The reasoning behind this chopper thing goes back to the Top Sniper show I saw a few years ago. They were looking at ways to use the helo as a platform to cover the advance of the main force. I wish I could find the exact video explanation, but this shows it in action...

     

     

    Not sure if you're aware but with that mod you linked, the player has a very very narrow field of fire. You'd have plenty of up/down movement but your left/right movement is restricted to a very small area. This is because the attachTo command won't let the object being attached to rotate. So you could fire, but you'd pretty much have to rely on the chopper getting you into position instead of aiming yourself. If the chopper is moving forward you'd have about a half-second window to hit a target before it left your firing cone.

  4. MH, is there a way to spawn the parajump flagpole between 5-10min after a town is cleared?

     

    Yeah, I'll do that. Also, didn't notice the link to that huey thing before, but I can certainly add it (that huey mod uses the same script commands I do to attach the vehicles to the C-130s cargo bay)

  5. That's definately a good idea, since this has been happening more and more lately. Thanks for the suggestion, we may/may not be able to use it. We're trying to work with MH6 to edit the Dom map to foster more and more teamwork, not just between a couple people, but between the whole company. The admins will have to make the decision on the parajumps, though, since it's such a big part of the game. We'll see..

     

    For now, we'll just keep this thread to standard procedures that affect the current game type and how we play that current game type.

     

    To be quite honest I would get rid of parajumping and MHQs in a heartbeat. I prefer how it was in ArmA1 playing Evolution , where you have to constantly transport troops from the main base to the battlezone in large groups. That actually gives transport pilots something to constantly do, unlike now in Arma2 Domination where you transport three or five guys and an MHQ then wait around, bored, until they clear it and move on to the next town.

     

    Of course, I understand MHQs pretty much make Domination what it is, but eh--just makes people more reckless in my opinion, knowing that they can instantly respawn at the battle zone.

    This is what im referring to from your post above.

     

    From the time the shell is fired to its impact is generally never longer than a minute. On average, it takes 50 seconds.

     

    Edit: OH, you're talking about how long it takes the airdropped M119 to show up, not how long it takes to hit a target in the artillery piece. They also reduced that so it's more like 5min now. Still, if you airdrop it at the beginning of the game you can still be up and ready before anyone even attacks the main town.

    if you have to wait 10 - 15 minutes then thats a bit dangerous - by that time the drop zone will likely be crawling with friendlies.

     

    its only taking 20 guys 10 minutes to clear a village now.

     

    10 - 15 minutes for what? And artillery battery could theoretically begin shelling a town as soon as it turns hostile, but it's better to have a FO parachute in first.

     

    granades are real mans arty

     

    And pssh. Grenades can't take out heavy armor.

  8. MH6, is it at all possible to incorporate this into the new Domination? If not, that's cool, I just had some tactical ideas for this, using it only in the Huey of course.

     

    BTW, how's it coming along? Think we'll be ready by Friday? No pressure if not.

     

    Yeah, though I'd like to get some guys together and do a quick test before slapping it on the main server. No one is able to join the server I'm hosting apparently, so could one of the extra Sparta servers be used for this (temporarily)?

    As far as I currently know, the only thing that'll go out the back is that Humvee. The paras will jump out two side doors.

     

    By the way, how is your domination fix going? Think it will be ready by Friday?

     

    Wow, that C-17 cargo bay is fucking big.

     

    And I still need to get some people to help me test it before I'm comfortable putting it on the server, but it's pretty much ready now, I think. There are still a few minor fixes that need to be done but they should be relatively easy.

     

     

  12. The US Domination server will Automatically restart at 06:00 EST every day with effect from 9/1/09. This is to deal with a memory leak in the game. We review auto restart after the latest version of Xenos Domination is released.

     

    Ya'll think the memory leak is because of all the dead bodies right?

     

    I actually wrote a script to hide & delete them all, and am going to execute it every time a new main town pops. Haven't tested it though, but it should work...in theory. :rolleyes:
