Is Firefall free to play?
More importantly, does my account from beta still exist, or do I pretty much have to redo everything.
-
So MH6, is this you?
Haha. I know the feeling. I saw a Rift Youtube video that was from the advantage point of a quadcopter. When it skyrocketed into the air, my stomach dropped. It was crazy.
lol, I want to get one of those when they increase the res to 1920x1080p and get the input lag to lower acceptable levels
The resolution does suck, looking forward to the 1080p version. The input lag is fine though.

Cool. Ka-50's may be a little more useful now. I've pretty much stopped using them in favor of the Mi-28. Also, they nerfed my poor Konkurs infantry.

Note to self, using era decks (1975/1980) only makes sense if your opponents are using them.
Yeah I figured that'd be a huge disadvantage. Was hoping the special benefits would help remove that disadvantage--I take it they don't?

Battle Decks are in! All units for all nations are now available and cutomizable decks are in the game! No AI enemies yet, and no campaign but I think thats coming next.
MH6 and Kal, fyi SEAD aircfraft (Suppression of Enemy Air Defense, aka Wild Weasel aircraft) use radar guided AA to home in on. Turn off the radar when these aircraft are about - this includes the Tunguska's guns. The Tunguska uses a laser to guide its missles, and radar for its guns.
Good to know, thanks.
Also, it seems if you specialize your decks (i.e. same nation for everything, same unit type, or same time period) you get substantial bonuses.
From the Wargame website:
It is always possible to create a mixed Deck including all countries and all unit types, and to earn special bonuses in return for certain sacrifices. For example, ‘national Decks' with 100% units from the same nation will be favored by a balancing system between better-equipped nations and more modest ones. Units called ‘prototypes' or still at an experimental stage at the time of the game, for example, will only be available in a ‘national' Deck.An even greater level of customization is now available with the Deck type; it involves selecting only the equipment historically available to a certain group type, such as an airborne unit, a marine infantry unit, etc. For example, in the ‘Tank' category, an American airborne unit will be restricted to airborne tanks such as the Sheridan and the M8 AGS prototype, but in return, it will give you substantial advantages. Finally, the third level of customization involves the period chosen for your Deck. If a Deck is considered as belonging to 1985 by default, with access to all the necessary equipment for its camp, it is quite possible to create a customized 1980 or 1975 Deck that will have only access to units available at the time. Again, in that case, bonuses bear significant advantages for those bold enough to make that choice! These 3 customization levels are cumulative, which means you can add up the bonuses granted from each of them. For example, if you create a Marine infantry Deck from 1980 with 100% Russian troops, you will receive very high bonuses, compared to a Deck made up of little bits from all nations on your side. Each customization level is linked to different limitations and bonuses. It is up to you to select your own options and develop daring tactics! -
Wat.

Super 61 is down. We got a bird down in the city. Super 61 is on the deck now.
Get an MH-6 on site and check for survivors.

Im in the market for a new monitor. Im thinking 24". Budget $150-$250. Any suggestions?
The following is my opinion: ASUS (~decent price & nice), Acer (cheaper, less nice)/Samsung(nicer, less cheap). Newegg search, $150-250, sort by best rating.

LOL Some guy made an insanely tall highway zigzagging around.
]Holy crap.
Now he needs to cause an earthquake under it...

Oh, so this is the indie game you have been helping to program? Very cool. Ought to kick off a separate thread to discuss as others may be curious for more details.
Yeah I'll move my post so as not to derail the thread too much.

MH6 - what is your signature? Is that a bunny rabbit planting a tree? Is that from your Facebook game addiction?
Funny. Funny guy.

New enemy animation (I think it looks pretty sweet):
We're actually showcasing the current build at TMODE (some anime/gaming convention in Maryland).
And no convention is complete without swag, so here is ours--bags of sunflower seeds (since it's a game about throwing seeds and restoring life to the world). Both cheap to make and pretty cool I think.

I found a trick w/ cannons - build two on top of tall towers and place a little distance between. The big nasty guy will try to attack Tower A, but won't be successful to reach it. Tower B 2nd cannon will be able to get a shot on it. Monster will go back and forth between towers trying to attack but are slowly whittled to death.
Ha, nice. I'll have to try that.

Well, the show was decent.
The only thing that really bugged me was the Indogene race. I feel like they could have done something to make them look more like aliens and less like humans with stockings over their head.

Yep, SpaceBuild destroyed my free time. Terraforming the moon and all that. Awesome stuff.

I still remember the day I built a cloaked Mass Driver on one planet--charged it to an ungodly amount, put a massive payload in it, and shot it at another planet. The cargo, which at this point was essentially a huge fucking projectile of death, lit the planet up in a gigantic fireball and killed everyone on the surface. It was a beautiful thing to behold.
Anyway, I managed to play PE for a few hours today in between all the damn work I had to do. It's pretty fun, I'm liking it. I designed my own pistol, crafted it, and bought some copper rounds. Them nasty critters roaming around are quite a bit less scary now (except for the big ones, I still give them a wide berth).
I *had* built myself a nice little house with some cannon emplacements on the roof to fend off the local wildlife. There was a quest beside my house to fend off a wave of monsters, and I took it. Only thing is, one of said monsters was about as big as my house, and didn't take kindly to my cannons firing at him.
I no longer have a house. <_>

Son of a... what are you doing to me, MH6? Garry's Mod swallowed weeks of my life.
I hate you.
- JHunter
Swallowed a few months of mine.
SpaceBuild in particular. Creating a spaceship from the ground up, designing life support systems and programming the ship's computers is insanely fun. For me anyway.

This is the game I've been waiting for. Garry's Mod meets Minecraft. They are even hoping to eventually support the ability to build a rocket/space ship to reach and colonize planetary moons. Which, you know, would be absolutely amazing (akin to SpaceBuild in Garry's Mod, the coolest mod ever). I've already kickstarted it, plan on trying it out when I get home tonight. The premise of it is something I've dreamed of for a long time now, glad to see someone is making it a reality.

I'm tempted to buy a Hyrdra controller to add positional tracking like this guy did:
The developer version doesn't have positional tracking (only rotation), but the consumer version will apparently. As well as a higher resolution LCD.

I just received my developer kit for the Oculus Rift! Will definitely be trying it out with some flight/racing sims tonight and this weekend.
The kit itself is fucking top-notch quality. Comes in a plastic briefcase with foam padding, has three sets of lenses (for those with 20/20, nearsighted, and extremely nearsighted vision), power adapters for virtually every type of socket (US/Euro/etc) and comes with HDMI/USB/DVI cables.

I have an ASUS Rampage Extreme IV, but haven't ever updated the BIOS (I honestly think you should never update the BIOS unless you are having actual problems already).
I am also running a GTX 580 on the latest drivers with no issues.
You should be able to play A3 just fine to be honest.

Company of Heroes 2 pre-orders are now available on Steam, and if you pre-order you get instant access to the Beta!

This ones for you MH6
95 Mustang Cobra R
(Saleen bumpers bonnet and skirts. Cervini rear wing)
Beauty.
My brother's 'stang has that same Saleen kit. Love the two-toned look, that's the kind of style I wanted for my '66; two-toned black/silver on top/bottom.

Yeah. Affordable 3D printers can be purchased here: http://www.makerbot.com/
When I say affordable, I mean ~$2k-3k.
My boss wants to buy one for the office at some point. Which would be fucking awesome.

I've noticed that playing vs AI with Crispy, they seem to get a shit ton more deployment points than we do. They were literally spawning out 40 some units while Crispy and I could afford like 5 at best. It got to be pretty ridiculous.
It could be they were just using dirt cheap units, but they were pretty damn good units for being dirt cheap.
