Ok... first post on the new rig. Almost nothing setup yet but doing the usual driver/program update hunt. Vista is very weird... Games to come...woot!

Great shots Zath...Im tempted by the Outcast ship...but Im thinking some Freightering before moving up would be good. Pity it had to be an outcast ship though. Makes getting it a little tougher..heheh.. weve toasted an awful lot of Outcasts...

Nice job Zath... Im leaning to the mining ship as a very nice alternative. Good number of holds without sacrificing shield power. The Destroyer is awesome but lacking the holds needed to make pirating worth the effort.

Actually, I had a great time in our CoD4 matches tonight... our little matching on the Sparta server was a lot more fun than on the 105th server anyway...more my pace and style I guess. Great to meet Kendor and Neo...and its always fun to put a cap in Dire's butt now and then...;-) I will be around most evenings for the North American crew to shoot...Im an above average bullet magnet.

best part is it includes a 22" flat screen... its only 2500:1 but its sure gonna be better than the analog piece of crap I have right now...

Bought a new computer today so I may be offline tomorroww while I get everything put back together. Lot of game downloads to sort thru... Its not an I7 but the budget just wasnt going there.... its a Quad core, 6gb ram..1gb video with shader 4 support, Vista 64bit... so I should be in decent shape for awhile with it. Should run what i need it to run for another year or two. Anyway, I will be around tonight probably, on the old system, archiving my old stuff and getting it all ready to move over...

Several of the twitterati mentioned the specs being run were fairly middle of the road so there may be hope for all...

Had to laugh at the 'playable animal' comments. Apparently you can edit animals into the game and assign them as playable. One of the twitter-ers mentions having great fun hunting his buddy who was playing a Boar... Also heartened by the mention of a demo to be released shortly. Gettin all exicted now...

Ok this is me being a nitpick I suppose.. but thats not actually belly dancing. Thats Polynesian dancing. Belly dancing is a middle eastern dance. Fun to watch regardless...

Couldnt sleep so thought I would stop by and post... Im still hoping to get some ArmA footage together for a little movie about Sparta and the fine players here.... so I thought I would post a video Ive made previously (in WoW). Ive made lots of movies but this one was the most important to me... the movie chronicles a memorial gathering that honored the memory of a little boy who died of brain cancer. he loved WoW and he loved playing a Hunter (the same class I play)... I guess i felt a connection to him, my mother was taken from us by cancer. I had to attend. Anyway, this was my little documentary, if you will, of the gathering... thousands of strangers all gathering on one server to pay tribute to one brave little boy who touched all of our hearts with his courage. Sparta is full of people who have served or serve now in the military, and while I admire and respect your courage and commitment to your country... this kid was barely 11 years old and faced the most terrifying event of all... Well, Ive been hangin' out with you folks for awhile now and its been a great time. Time zones are not ideal so I havent been able to meet and play with everyone, but Sparta and all of its members have been overwhelmingly kind and accomodating to me. Just been a boatload of fun whenever I game with Spartans. So, as some of you know Ive decided not to continue with Eve for now (though I will very likely jump back in later on this summer) and I have this 60 day time card just sitting here waiting for some lucky Spartan to come along and use it. All you have to do to win the 60 days of Eve Online time is provide the best completed answer to this question: If you had one wish you could only use for the benefit of Sparta, what would you wish for? Contest closes Monday at midnight, Mountain Time. (Long holiday weekend here... ) I will provide the time card serial number to the winner in private mail. Answers can be as funny or serious as you want... Good luck...

Jeepers... had no idea there even WERE any user commands for FL. Do we have to access a console window or can we just input these to the System prompt? Anyone know? Lots of opportunity for fun there....

Hehehe... I dont play PvP in JO...Im just a coop guy, so Im content to wait for the full version. yes, its JO with a new name. All of the Nova shooters are JO with a new name. JO was Delta Force with a new name. Blackhawk Down was DF with a new name. JO was DF with a new opposing force and different terrain. Its all the same game with different names. Thats what Nova does. Thats what they have always done. If you dont want to play, dont play. But for those of us who enjoy the game it is a welcome addition to our little collection of games. The game play is uber fun in coop and I am going to be spending many hours, I am sure, enjoying the game.

Have you played the original JO? Nova has never been bleeding edgewhen it comes to graphics. You dont get 150 people onto a server in this type of game with high detail, high poly characters... or terrain, or anything else. You cant offer a 150 player game that runs on older machines with Gears of War/CoD4+ high quality graphics. So, as I said originally... this version is a great improvement over the original and the graphics are excellent for a Nova game.

There are a few minor differences in the mini-map, and so on, but for all intents and purposes this game is identical to JO model-wise. Where this game really shines is its compatibility with older video cards like mine (and still produces some outstanding video) and the graphical updates to the terrain and some of the models. The shading and shadowing make all the difference in this version...and the overall smoothness is amazing. In old-JO right clicking to sight your weapon was a bit jarring, in this version its silky smooth. There seems to be a lot of physics updates to weapons..in JO bullets tended to be straight line..regardless of distance, now you can see the bullets 'fall away' as they reach their max distance. Its still a wee bit cartoony, to be sure, but the game play is hella fun and can still be as tactical as you want it to be. Coop mode is not yet available in Beta but Im dying to give it a try....havent had much chance to do much Medding (Im an absolutely insane med...I rock! hahaha) yet but sometime soon I hope. Im up for playing this any time at all....the more the merrier...

I am buying this game. This is (like most Nova games) a bigger and much better version of Joint Ops. graphics are much smoother and updated for todays video standards...models are the same old JO models... controls are identical to JO. I was able to play this immediately...cant wait for the coop maps...

Downloading the demo...will try to provide a review tonight...

Looking forward to that!!! Should be fun to see whats new..maybe some of those empty sectors will have some baddies in them!

Yeah I dont think I will be getting CoD5... bit expensive to play only one or two nights a week. Im looking for something to invest 5 or 6 nights a week in with a regular group of players. I'm thinking a new MMO might be the answer...Eve is pretty fun but does not have the social aspect I want. In the meantime, I will prolly wind up running old JO maps to fill time..found a couple of servers that are fairly busy every night with a small group of regulars. On weekends I will drag my butt out of bed early and run some Freelancer and ArmA with the fine Sparta folks..
