  1. Perhaps this is a bit premature, but if the new ArmA2 is CPU intensive, is that going to affect the games already being offered at Sparta? Will games be removed and no longer offered, that sort of thing? Just wondering cuz I am about to pick up a couple of games currently on the roster but wont bother if they wont be on the servers.
  2. No, THIS is totally weirded out: Dancing with the Star Wars Stars 2008 Dancing with the Star Wars Stars 2007
  3. The Gameplay trailer and other assorted gameplay vids posted at the top of this thread should help.

heheeh great shots Zebb... found myself in a couple of those... Wish Id thought to Fraps that mission, maybe next time...assuming I live past the initial contact.
  6. Nope. No one wants to play it..didnt think everyone would be this snooty about an old style game...
  7. Honestly, I dont care much about a games bugs as long as I have fun with the peeps Im playing with.
  8. GRAW2 should have much better graphics than ArmA or ArmA2. GRAW2 doesnt have the ginormous landmass to render. ..the maps are tiny specks in comparison. GRAW2 doesnt have draw distance to worry about, at least certainly not to anything close to what ArmA has to support. GRAW2 figures are crisper, cleaner, more detailed, better shadowed and so on, and prolly always will be... the game does not have the same requirements or demands on its graphics engine, and GRAW2 has a lot more overhead to play with which allows for higher poly counts and better rendering. In a strict comparison between the 2, GRAW2 should win every time.
  9. Larger cache means much better FPS results in games... it does other stuff but ultimately thats the real difference from the gamers point of view. Doubling the cache can mean really significant performance increases (and more still if you ever did go to SLI). I was looking at a benchmark test result earlier that shows a 40% increase in FPS over a 6mb cache when a 12mb cache mobo was tested. Now i cant find the link....grr... Anyway, thats where cache size will impact you most. especially in games like ArmA2 that are going to be relying on some pretty big video cards. A cache is a storage area (either in virtual memory which is exceedingly fast or in physical memory..your hard drive... which is immensely slower) where information flows in and out in chunks. The bigger the chunk, the more data you can move in one process. Doubling the cache is very good...
  10. There are a lot of good reasons to forego the TRackIR and go with the 419.00 option. SLI, faster processor, better cache... all of which adds up to not having to buy another system in 12 months just to stay relatively current. Buy in 24 months instead...
  11. Do you really rely on in-game sound that much, Rocky? I'm somewhat surprised, I must say! I can see how directional cues are important, but most basic headsets will handle that easily. What would you say is the important part of high quality sound for your gameplay?
  12. I know you Euro folks are prolly knocking on Saturdays door, but here its barely Friday...so THANK GOD ITS FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOORAY FOR THE WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!! This has been an uber long week....glad to see it done finally. Soon as I get home from work I will rockin with Freelancer and maybe some ArmA, or EVE or GRAW2 or COD 4 or whatever the flavor of the day is. Hope someone is still around then.. ahahah...
  13. Well that I cant comment on...works fine in COD tho..
  14. In addition to making sure that PB is allowed access through the firewall, PB ALSO runs as a Windows Service and MUST be enabled as a service or it will never run. In WIn7 I was prompted by the Windows Firewall to allow PB, in Vista I was not.
  15. Many ArmA servers are 'hardcore' mode. One life, no revives, no respawn no join in progress. You need to find a more relaxed server like Sparta's ArmA server 3 that allows joins in progress and so on. It will make more sense once you have been in server 4 once or twice. Also... relax, stress is for old guys like me with crap jobs. Mellowness is for the young...
  16. Just tried out CoD4 and had no problem connecting to, or playing, on PB enabled servers.
  17. Dunno yet...had no trouble installing it tho.
  18. Well, I installed Windows 7 and was prepared to deal with a few issues here and there as I installed my little collection of games. However, I had no issues. Zero. None. Win7 recognized all of my hardware, installed all of my games the first time through and never even broke a sweat. Its not as pretty or flashy as Vista was, but its much easier to use and the gui is much more logical and flows extremely well. Performance wise...easily 5 or 6 times faster than Vista was to boot from scratch and program loads were much, much faster. Under Vista ArmA load time was usually 30 - 40 seconds before the first splash screen displayed.... in Win7 I am at the main ArmA menu within 10 -15 seconds. Overall Im extremely pleased even though this is only an RC version. Cant wait for the full meal deal...
  19. I think the answer to that would depend on what sort of output your video card supports. Multiple monitors USED to mean running an AGP and a PCI slot on your machine. Then you would select which monitor to enable first in your BIOS. Im sure things have changed a bit since then, but look to your video card...
  20. So, I started my WIn7 install last night.. Put in the dvd with the new goodies. Started the install... All was going well until I saw 'Please input your registration code'... 'Oh no problem' I thought gleefully 'Let me just bring up my email and grab the code......oh crap....' Installing tonight.
  21. Well, keep at it Zath... that dreadnought isnt too far off now! I had a feeling hauling freight was the way to go for those big numbers, glad to see we found a good formula for making uber cash. Of course, you found some really lucrative trade runs... biggest haulers in the universe wont help much without good runs... bravo, dear sir... bravo...
  22. Nice choice Durka...same headset I use... Seems to do the trick for sure.
  23. The Windows 7 Beta is over and no longer available. The Windows 7 RC (Release Candidate) version is available and expires in 2010. Free download from the Microsoft.com download center.
  24. Oh my lord! Me want! Me want! hahahaha! That looks awesome man...great job...
  25. Yeah, Medic has the right of it... next time!
