  1. I will remove the Ai Chopper, it was just there to look cool. I have fixed the tankers, they stay up for 12 hours now. The idea of Scramble at Batumi, is to be able to practice basic flight (Take off, Landing and Navigation) as well as Air to Ground and Air to Air combat. It has helped me improve my personal knowledge of how the editor works. However it is not the be all and end all of missions. If anyone finds missions that they would like on the server please just leave a link and we will add it. I am thinking of adapting Flaming Cliffs 3 campaign missions to include the popular planes we fly, such as the F18 and AV8B Harrier.
  2. More changes to Scramble at Batumi. There are now 2 Flights of Harriers at Batumi and, by popular request, 3 of the 6 are in a hot start state. Therefore they can be ready to defend the base more promptly. There are now 5 F18s at Batumi 3 KA50s have been added to Nalchik The SU25T and the A10C have been moved to Kobuleti I have finally figured out how to have the bombers commence there strike based on a trigger point Apart from Harriers taking off vertically all Batumi Planes have to pass through this trigger to take off, first to do so spawns the bombers and there escort. There will be other applications for the trigger function. having tankers or carriers spawn in when you need fuel on a long range mission. I also want to work on an air combat area, but for now I can make an event happen once, I need to understand how to make it repeat as often as you want. I also want to add random placement of units so that you have to find them, but that is for the future.
  3. Your LUA is really well set out nice and clear. I will switch to yours.
  4. Thats cool, but not everyone has the game.

  6. Slight course correction needed
  7. I have managed to get all 3 MFDS of my F18 on my left monitor. On my monitors there is no gap at the bottom. The gap appears in the image because the left monitor is 1080 and the right one is 1440, but the game thinks they are both 1440.
  8. Today's frolics at Batumi My first night time take off, very disturbing! Sunrise in the Caucus' Beauty shot Cent and I go up country SAM hunting Cent and I doing some HARM
  9. Part 2 Understand that there is a trigger for firing guns and sometimes missiles and a weapon release button for bombs and some missiles, they are not the same. Identify them before continuing Sit rep Right MFD shows the FLIR image with the small diamond in the top right hand corner. Left MFD shows the STORES page with LG82 boxed and RDY underneath Next move to center MFD and click on Menu and SA on right The circle represents your waypoint (in the vicinity of your target a small diamond represents where your camera is looking. move the camera using up ; down . left , right / There are zoom in and out as well as wide or narrow view. Use these buttons to visually find your target When you are on target press enter on the keyboard, a vertical line will appear on your hud as well as AUTO on the left and an arrow pointing to the target which is boxed. fly towards the target align the vertical line with the center of the hud Below AUTO is a timer, if it is 99 you are more than 99 or more seconds away AS you get closer the number will countdown. The weapon release is automatic, but you must be pressing the weapon release button, I hold the weapon release from 30 seconds Go to the aforementioned LTD/R button and switch it on, still holding the weapon release button. When the counter reaches zero the bomb will release and LASE will appear under AUTO press the primary trigger to LASE the target Ensure that the camera has an unobstructed view of the target, be wary of parts of your own plane blocking the camera The bomb should follow the laser and hit the target. I hope this helps, I will amend it as I get more information
  10. In this guide we will assume, you know how to use the autopilot, parked or static targets, one bomb at a time and we will be using Center 330 gallon fuel tank AN/AAQ-28 Litening Pod GBU 12 Paveway 500lb bomb(Guided Mk82) x8. 2 each on pylons 2,3,7,8 This puts the plane at 88% max takeoff weight Alternatively we can use GBU 16 1,00lb bomb (Guided Mk83) GBU10 2,000lb bomb (Guided Mk84) Understand that we will be using LASER guided ordinance, the Litening pod lases and the Paveway system on the bomb follows the beam. The emitter has a code, which, if unchanged is 1688. If more than one is bombing in the same area it is a good idea to change the code to a unique number. First if you know the location of the target on the map note its coordinates and add a waypoint to that location, be as precise as you can Prepare the plane for flight, but hold on ramp Set Left MFD to Stores and click on LG82 (top right) it will now be boxed as will on of the wing stations Bottom center you will see PROG1 indicating Mode Auto MFUZ OFF EFUZ Off Left buttons 3rd down click on EFUZ, then click on INST Left buttons 5th down click on CODE The word CODE appear in the NUMPAD Area (Upfront control panel or UFC) click on the button next to CODE so that a colon appears to its left Type in 1688 (or whatever number you have chase for your Litening pod) and ENT the boxed xxxx under the boxed 82LG will change to boxed 1688 look to right buttons 3rd down STEP, click on it If :CODE and 1688 are still on the UFC hit ENTER,then STEP, ENTER STEP, ENTER. At this point All 4 codes should be entered RC above RADAR and INS knobs you will see 3 switches FLIR to ON LTD/R come back to that NST/NFLR to ON Now take off and climb to 10-15,000. (take your time and take it easy on the after burner as you will kill your loiter time otherwise) Heading to the waypoint using HSEL (as previously described) and once at altitude click on BALT Master arm on A/G on RDY should appear under the boxed 82LG top right of the MFD Go to right MFD and click on FLIR top right button Verify the right MFD is the Sensor of Interest (SOI) there should be a small diamond shape in the top right hand corner of the screen. If not hold RALT+/ and the diamond should apppear. PART 2 Finding the target and the bomb run.
  11. Nice one Cent. A great day for you yesterday, first air to air refuelling and mastering the laser guided bombs in the F18. What does Scramble at Batumi have in it now, I hear no one asking? It is a training environment for a variety of Aircraft and tasks, including. US Batumi 4 F18s to practice everything they can do 3 SU25Ts take off and landing, waypoint navigation, ground and sea bombing (dumb and guided) 3 AV8Bs initially configured at VTOL weight to practice take off and landing, but obviously can be reconfigured into a strike package 2 F16s to practice everything they can do Kobeleti (primarily FC3 planes more will be added) 3 SU27s Initially configured forwaypoint navigation and Air to Air but can be reconfigured 1 KA50 1 Mirage US Carrier Group (Stennis, Roosevelt and Tarawa) 5 F18s (2 on the supercarrier) Practice take off and landings plus carrier strike missions 2 F18s Carrier approach and landing The carrier group launches and S3 tanker to practice air to air refuelling KC130 refuelling plane 2 F18s to practice air to air refuelling. Russia The Russians also have a Carrier Group Admiral Kuznetsov Carrier with 3 SU33s Sochi Adler Base 2 SU33s 2 SU27s Targets When the server starts 4 TU22s will bomb the base fuel tanks, you have 15-20 minutes to launch and destroy them To the north there are 4 immobile ships, one armed with a CWIZ. Further to the Northeast are 5 fuel tanks to practice dumb bombing, guided bombing and air to ground missile firing East of them are a bunch of Tanks and ZU23s (Urals and Shilkas) for Mavericks and other precision munitions. These can move but have no destination. Death awaits in the North After we cut our teeth on the southern easy targets (which over time I will make harder), we move to the north. 3 Mig 29s defending an Awacs Carrier Group, Admiral Kuznetsov Carrier and a Kirov Class battlecruiser Pyotr Velikiy Defended by a Radar station (EWR55G6) and several SA10 SAM site (plus Zu23s) This requires a coordinated attack or at least executed in stages 1 a Kill the RADAR station b Kill the SAMS 2 Kill the AWACS and its MIG escorts 3 Kill the Carrier Group
  12. I think FC3 is a good module to have as there are a bunch of planes that are quite interesting to fly, plus the F15 and Su27 are thought to be amongst the best ACM fighters available. The high fidelity A10 is meant to be really tough to master plus there is another one coming out in the near future. The Super carrier is not on sale anymore, but I wanted it because it has a virtual ILFLS(?the ball) that pops up near your head. Also they upgraded the Kuznetsov in a way that make it much more usable.BTW I made a mistake, I think the carriers are part of the free game. I would like a helicopter but I dont like any that are currently available with the exception of the KA50, but that is tough to fly and fight at the same time. I will probably get it, even though another black shark is coming out. I want the F14 but can wait until its on sale, same for the Viggen. I bought the AV8B on sale I havent explored it yet but I will.
  13. We have been having a bit of trouble with a small armed russian ship with a pretty decent CWIZ anti missile defence. It was very effective at shooting our Harpoons out of the sky since our approach was abeam to the target. Adder suggested we use our 2 planes to approach the ships fore and aft reducing the effectiveness the CWIZ. I had technical issues when I tried with Adder so the ship only had to deal with 4 missiles, none the less adder was succesful. Later Cent and I had a go at coordinating our approach and fired 4 AGM88 Harpoons each from the bow and the stern and all of them hit with seconds of each other Here are my 4 We were quite pleased with ourselves as our approaches were planned on the ground and the missiles were programmed to match the expected headings also whilst we were on the ground. Coordinated play is starting to remind me of our old Arma days.
  14. Adder gave the ships what for today
  15. Yesterday Gunther showed me how to add waypoints to the Hornet while in the plane, unlike some plane where the waypoints are defined in the mission editor. Assuming that the plane has been started and the INS is set to NAV. Pick an MFD (the right one may be most useful but any will do) Left click on center bottom row button until you see SUPT on the screen above it (once or twice) Left click on HSI (left buttons second from the bottom) this will bring up the compass rose Left click on DATA (Top row of buttons 5th from the left) This will show you details of the currently selected waypoint. Usually if its waypoint 0, it should be showing your initial waypoint. Press f10 for the map and move the cursor to each waypoint you want to input, wherever the cursor is on the map you can see the long and lat in the top right hand corner. Note the ones you want to use. As an example from Batumi I have noted the following coordinates Waypoint 1 N42 09 29 E40 43 54 Waypoint 2 N43 56 59 E42 38 35 Waypoint 3 N44 08 37 E40 25 53 Waypoint 4 N43 26 18 E39 56 23 Press F1 to return to the cockpit, use * to zoom into the right MFD and the central NUMPAD Press the button beside the up arrow on the right hand side second from the top, the number between the up and down arrows should be 1 Press top button Left side of MFD marked UFC this will bring up POSN, ELEV, GRID and O/S between the MFD and the NUMPAD Press the button to the right of POSN, two small circles will appear in the panel above 123 buttons Press 2 (for N) then the numbers 420929 then press ENT The numbers should clear from the little panel and appear on the right MFD Press 6 (for E) hen the numbers 404354 then press ENT. The numbers should clear from the little panel and appear on the right MFD Press the button beside the up arrow on the right hand side second from the top, the number between the up and down arrows should be 2 Press 2 (for N) then the numbers 435659 then press ENT The numbers should clear from the little panel and appear on the right MFD Press 6 (for E) hen the numbers 423835 then press ENT. The numbers should clear from the little panel and appear on the right MFD Press the button beside the up arrow on the right hand side second from the top, the number between the up and down arrows should be 3 Press 2 (for N) then the numbers 432618 then press ENT The numbers should clear from the little panel and appear on the right MFD Press 6 (for E) hen the numbers 395623 then press ENT. The numbers should clear from the little panel and appear on the right MFD At this point you waypoints have been input into the planes navigating sytem Now lets move to the lower center MFD Left click on center bottom row button until you see SUPT on the screen above it (once or twice) Left click on HSI (left buttons second from the bottom) this will bring up the map on the screen Left click on MODE (left buttons third from the bottom) this will bring up the compass rose Lets take a second to familiarise our selves with this instrument first look for the heading indicator (2 small squares joined together just outside the numbers) Also look HSEL bottom left under the time Above the buttons on the left and right are switches marked HDG and CRS Using the up and down buttons on the right (2nd and 3rd from the top) change the waypoint till you see 1 On the compass rose a triangle will appear indicatingthe heading needed to get us to waypoint 1 (if you are zoomed in you will see a circle and a dot in the triangle left or right click on the HDG switch to move the heading indicator to align with the point of the triangle (the HSEL info will now indicate the heading) Normalise your view out of the canopy with a view of the numpad Now take off, once in stable flight, press A/P just below the NUMPAD, ATTH, HSEL, BALT and RALT should appear between the numpad and right MFD. Once you are at an altitude you are happy with press the button to the left of BALT, once the plane has levelled off press HSEL. The plane will now bank to line up with the heading you selected earlier. By changing the waypoint number on the HSI and matching the heading indicator to the waypoint heading you can navigate to you objective. I will edit this for errors, so please point out any mistakes I have made.
  16. As you know Scramble at Batumi is a simple training mission that allows you to practice various elements from take off and landing to Air Combat (ground and air targets). Shooting down the TU22s that come in to bomb the base give noobs like us the thrill of combat without too much difficulty. But as we get more capable we need more challenge. A Radar/SAM site in the north protecting Ammo and Fuel Dumps as well as a patrolling carrier with its support. The Radar/SAM site has massive range, so venturing north to hit the Russian Awacs and Mig 29s will most likely end badly. I had a go at destroying the Site with Gunthar and Steel. Gunthar planned a strike using AGM88C HARM missiles (which lock onto threat radars) which needed an eastern approach from the mountains, we mapped waypoints he gave us directly into the F18s computer and headed out from Batumi. On the way we did some formation flying, sadly I was concentrating too much to take photos,. But I had done earlier when Gunthar flew in formation with me in his F16. BTW the Strike was a success. But it will be there tomorrow!
  17. Thanks for taking the time to show me around the game Cent.
  18. Winter has been and gone many times since I invested my 25 shekels in this game and even though I am sure that many more will come and go again before it is ready, the time has come for Zeno to download the game. What makes me happy about this, more so than playing the game, is that I can now bug Cent incessantly asking how things work without doing any research myself. I probably have a day of downloading to go.
  19. Nice races yesterday. Enjoyed it! Great racing with you again Rocky. Thanks everyone for suffering through a Nordschliefe, I know its hard to learn, but it is the most rewarding track in the world and my personal favourite.
  20. As Forrester would say "code blue" Thanks Senior Luggage much appreciated.
  21. Finally I got to play with my supercarrier module. Here are the deck crew preparing the BarCAP for launch And here is the first Draft of the SPARTA livery, thanks Panic!
  22. I thought it would be useful to note down an abbreviated startup procedure for the Hornet. At the end you will be ready to taxi to the runway and take off. I will modify this as I learn more LC - Left switch panel (beside left arm) there is also an angled panel at the front RC - Right switch panel (beside right arm) there are 5 panels of switches and knobs You can hide the joystick by moving the cursor to its base, the cursor will change, when you click on it the Joystick will disappear MFP Main front panel , the dashboard 01 RC first panel middle switch right click Battery Switch 02 LCTRL+C close Canopy 03 LC behind Throttles right click APU (wait for green light to turn on beside switch) 04 LC just behind APU right click Engine Crank (Right Engine), wait for RPM 25 05 Uncage throttle Rshift+Home, wait for engine to stabilise around 300 degrees/65 RPM The Right Engine Provides power to all the onboard systems, which is why you start it first. 6 Front panel left MFD top center right click to day 7 Front panel right MFD top center right click to day 8 Front panel centre MFD top center click on rotary knob and drag to rotate 9 Front Panel left click rotary knob under IFF under the NUMPAD to illuminate HUD 10 RC 4th panel Right click INS to GND (CV for Carrier), See 23 11 When the Centre MFD is active click on the button under STD HDG (second button from left, bottom row). 23. There have been a bunch of updates to the F18, F16 and the only way to play the super carrier (which I have) is with the openbeta - Public beta versions. Right click on DCS World, go to the Bets tab and click on openbeta - Public beta versions It is 18GB so I will not be switching back and forth.
