Yes, my k/d ratio varies enormously too, usually dependent on how focussed or otherwise I and the opposition are on achieving the gametype objective rather than racking up a lot of kills But the COD5 server does seem to be very busy most nights now and it is a fun place to play regardless of how well you are doing individually

Not usually a fan of exotic cars (I drive a 306 'nuff said ) but the Maserati - from that angle - does look the nuts The Audi further down looks like it would be more at home toboganning than on the road

GG last night, Co-Op is a nice change of style. Sadly I crashed out towards the end of the Oceanic level and took that as a hint to rest my shoulder. Is there a time limit on the server for specific maps or does it just stay on a certain map until the mission is complete? Am thinking of if I am the only person on the server and wanted to get more familiar with Oceanic (or A.N.Other).

I'll come in if there's room. Not sure how long I will last as my shoulders ache, I am sure due to too much time hunched over the keyboard playing PC games

If you want to play the latest PC games you have to accept you'll be locked into a permanent game of catch up (albeit not quite as quickly as 3 months) no matter what mainstream components you buy. It's the nature of the beast.

I still use the PS/2 Microsoft Ergonomic KB I bought in 2002 - solid, stable, reliable. Say what you like about MS but they do some pretty good KBs and Mice.

All set with this now - was getting kicked when joining server 4 but removed my custom face.jpg and all is well now. Interesting bug at ref 101060 - a fighter flew above my head and straight into the mountainside above me before cascading down towards me in flames - I moved pretty sharpish. There were the carcasses of a few Heli's there too (and indeed I heard another one crash a few mins later in same spot but had no visual) suggesting either an AI bug or some kamikaze training squadron. Flying a heli when I toggled to Map my speed dropped to zero - don't know if this is accident or design.

Quick question. I am downloading ACE as we speak and have also d/led the other dependencies mentioned by X in his earlier post. I have created @.... folders in my main Arma directory and put the pbo files in the Add On folders within those. I am unusre where to put the .bikey files that are included with the two map services addons. Do they go in the Keys folder in my main Arma direcotry or within the Addons folders in the relevant @... folder? Also, just to clarify, the baseline requirement for server 2 now is 1.15 beta plus ACE mod and its other dependencies - is this correct?

Apologies if this is a daft question but do I need to get this Mod (and the other dependencies) now if I wish to join Server 2 or is it not yet in place server side? I saw there were quite a few in last night but decided to go Crouch 'n' Gunning on WaW instead as wasn't sure of the requirements.

I made a small donation via Paypal today. I seem to be spending a lot of time on the Sparta servers lately so I hope it goes a little way towards helping with the running costs. I posted here because I followed the guidelines in http://www.legionofspartans.com/forums/ind...hp?showtopic=30 but when I went to PM an admin as suggested the forum told me I didn't have permission to use the messenger feature and I then tried to put this post as a reply to that topic but the thread is closed hence putting it here instead.

I just had this one delivered X-Fi Titanium It's basically the Fatal1ty one without a few bells and whistles so am hoping it's a good all rounder. Just got a headset too as was fed up of key clashes with PTT on TS. Just got to work out how to output to headset for gaming and my hi-fi amp for music and video without having to keep swapping leads - maybe Maplins will have a splitter or somesuch that will do the job.

Yes, I enjoyed our runs through Surgical Strike, am just really gutted that my router chose to reboot again during the one Custard was leading meaning I got kicked It's happened a few times lately though not excessively so I might have a nosy on the Plusnet forums to see if others are suffering the same problems.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the experience and I'll be back in tonight assuming people are on. Maybe I have a different perspective as a new player in wanting someone to be taking control and giving instruction that I can follow as I become more familiar with Arma and it's quirks. Hope to see some of you back online this evening.

Agree with all of that. Agree Agree I'm new to Arma and new to these forums too but I've taken part in a few missions this week and it's clear that there are some different preferences in the playing styles of some of the regulars. Some prefer a more methodical approach and some prefer a more direct approach. I don't know which, if either, is better - I suspect each has its benefits - but it does create a tension in-game if some players are following one approach and others are following a different approach. There was a cohesiveness to the play yesterday as we all got into position prior to the first engagement but after that it did seem very much a case of people (including myself I'll admit) doing what they felt best, whether singly or in pairs rather than operating under the instruction of a leader, be that Zebb or Zeno. It didn't feel to me to be very tactical or very team-oriented in the sense that I would have expected. Were my expectations misguided? Is this how group play usually pans out?

Have enjoyed the games on server 2 this week when I have been on though Bountyhunters was a PITA last night wasn't it with the crashing and kit resets, etc? At least I managed to hit a few targets in the Liberation game. Often times when I am scoped in the enemy figures are like watching a flickbook as they jerk around the screen (is this common for those of you playing from the UK due to our dodgy pings) giving me little faith that I will hit anything that's not either static or moving directly towards me. I need to do some reading up on scope compensation for altitude, distance, etc too or maybe find someone to give me a quick explanation in-game. Am out tonight and tomorrow but hopefully there'll be some ARMA action on Sunday.

I just remembered that I wanted to ask what was involved in getting custom face paint for my Arma character? I can see that this helps a lot in quickly identifying team members when name tags are not available. I recall someone online saying that you should have two profiles, one with face paint, one without as some servers don't like the custom faces but wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction for getting set up with a custom face.

Well, thanks to X-Wind, Halli and the others who I joined on server 2 for a few missions yesterday, I really enjoyed it and didn't feel completely out of my depth though as soon as it kicks off I know i am gonna die pretty quickly. Love the tension and the feel of the game and look forward to more.

Well, I have had a few more sessions with the SP and a couple of online forays and feel confident with the basic controls so it will be good to join a game on the Sparta EVO server sometime soon. How do you arrange these? Just see who is on TS and go from there?

Thanks Viiiper I have popped into TS a couple times to see what's happening but never hung around. I'll come in and say hi next time and see what people are playing.

Cheers all I'll be on the COD4 crouch game later so I'll ask for the ARMA passwords then too. I had a brief foray online with ArmA and saw the SPARTA servers last night but ended up joining a random French server as I literally only had 5 minutes to play with.
