  1. Dont get anything but a 9800 GTX or something the like Zebb. You cant go wrong for 100 or so bucks. 9800 might not be the top of the line, but it will rip thru Crysis, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, and just about anything else u throw at it. And for a hundred bucks, you cant go wrong. Then in 6 months when games can actually take advantage of the Nvidia 260, the card that your looking at now that will tear up OFP2/ArmA2, will prob be under 200 bucks. So why pay premium now when nothing can even make it sweat. Grab it when u can use it and prob save a few hundred bones I remember when the 9800 was $350+. Im just saying since the new stuff runs smooth on the 9800's no reason to pop for a new card that cant be taken advantage of. Unless you really really want 80 fps instead of 60 lol.
  2. Hey gents, thought I pop in and see how things have been. We go off sound though and it works like a charm. Key to that working is position. For separated units, its tough ie: few hundred meters apart, etc. But if u make sure everyone is in hearing range, its the best way to do it. Wont be perfect, but close enough. Dont know if your remember, but ages ago a few of us did that "Delta Force" by RTY or something. We killed the 3 Gens in the hotel at Arcadia then hit that base North of it. We all crawled up to the fence's edge, except Zebb because he got stuck with the 107 lol. But once we were poking out of the bushes, all 4 of us lined up a different targets and fired when u heard the 1st shot. Was fish in a barrel after that. Just have to make sure of who is firing first. And that person firing first, needs to make sure everyone can hear him. If its SD or QDS, you just have to tighten up the group more. Happy Belated Birthday by the way Zeno
  3. Ive been playing with you gents for awhile. I hope I can make some observations here and not get flamed for it. Its different on a Dom match which allows for great practice of all skills. The other night I was like 140 kills 22 armor and like 4 or 5 helo pops with 15 deaths. This style of play allows others to repair, respawn, reload your gear, and get back into the fight; like a big sandbox. Practice in tanks, AT, sniper, dual primaries, arty, etc. Don't get me wrong, its fun and I had a blast. Entertaining for me and I enjoyed playing it with you guys. But that is a much more relaxed style of play, which I also enjoy. However this style of play, like the "Situation Critical" mission last night, is a whole diff ballgame. The thing is most of you thought it was a successful mission, which I don't believe it was. I was having connection issues, so after my reboot I rejoined the server after missing the start and ran across three dead I revived getting back to town. The pilot, whom the whole first part of the mission is based on, was dead somehow. Guys were scattered about. Some by the castle, and some still in town, when the town still hadn't been cleared yet. And the com's at one point became so loud, I couldn't even hear the updates from the mission once a objective or counterattack was triggered. I heard contacts being called but drowned by non-relative issues. It wasnt one person specific, but just in general. Even though we heard the counter attack was coming from the East, when it hit, half the team was in transition between the Castle and Merc. I was up on the tower with another player until a rocket run drove us back down to the base where it just ended up being us two there fending off the CT as long as we could. The only successful part is we took the Tower. Ive finished this mission with 3 other players but took us 3x's the time it should of. You gents have the talent without question. You cleared the lower city fairly quickly without too many deaths by the time I got back in. It all depends on what you want to get out of the experience. I know its just a game Gent's. By all means I understand if that's exactly what your thinking as you read this. I would think the same if I was just coming in to chill for a bit and kill some stuff. But if your truly going after the hardcore line and want to complete these in that fashion, I wouldn't look at last night as a success, but what can be learned. The "Pilot Rescue mission" the other day was outstanding example of what you guys can do, except for the fact the pilot was glued to the wall and wouldn't leave lol. But that compared to the Critical one? Was night and day, to me at least. Im not one to preach too much either because I pop off chatter on com's and make jokes. But the second you hear "contact", your ears should perk up like someone cut a huge fart in a movie theater and the room should go quite. And it doesn't have to be super duper hardcore like "oscar roger ebert", but relative to the those around you. Perfect example is on the Rescue Pilot mission: We all were North of the crash site looking into town. I saw a tango run out into the open, and instead of taking the shot myself to drop him, all I said is "contact main road, heading out" in the middle of our communications. Due to all our relative positions, everyone knew I meant the main road leading in/out of Ortego. Then I watched at least 3 or 4 of you snap right to him and turn that guy into a meat puppet from different directions. Com's then continued. One last note is that aim isn't your issue. You guys do very well with the targets you see. But I think your ready for the next phase IF your going pure tactical. I know your not going to like this suggestion lol, but you should turn off the map markers on your hardcore server; plain and simple. Im seeing people literally playing right off the map instead of checking their sectors. I know I should of died several times and didnt cause the map saved my tail, not another player. Makes me lazy. The markers off not only adds intensity to every mission, but makes sure your team has your back and vice versa. Forces more team work since any movement would need to be covered. And if someone is getting shot at, you and your team has to locate the tracers or muzzle flash to find the shooter, not look at the map. Makes you slow down and not rush in due to impatience. "I dont see anything on the map, so im driving up", type of thing. I know for most it would be a huge adjustment, but I wouldn't recommend it if I didnt think you Gent's could do it. Its a totally different game with the map markers and the 3rd person camera off. You dont get the added magic SA, only what you can see in front of you. That alone forces your game up since you have to be more aware of what your doing, or you will die. Its your TS, your server, and Im just a guest so I hope I didn't piss any of you off. After playing with some of you for this period of time, Im just trying to help if the hardcore line is where you want to take it. I have a blast toying around with Majestic in the Evo/Dom missions so I dont want you to think that Im ultra hardcore 24/7. I know most you hate dying, myself included, and this maybe a bit much from the "fun" perspective. But you do have two other servers that can be used for fun. I'm not saying play like this all the time either lol. I'm just saying if you are going to use one of them for hardcore, these are only my suggestions. If I burned any bridges, I apologize. I enjoy playing here in both manners and just wanted help those that are looking for that hardcore experience.

Just saw this article and thought it might be worth a read. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7587238.stm Its clear to me that Zebb must be in the tank they are throw rocks at ...lol
  5. Fun Stuff last night gents. Enjoyed it Viiiper/Zeno (sorry for that TK lol). Thanks for having me.
  6. I think most share the same sediment's kiltor2. I thought Id share that Nate Fick wrote a book that's said to be used in OCS training regarding making "field decisions". I have not read it yet, but from what Ive been told by those who have, its outstanding! It might be something to add to your list since Gen Kill book followed the series so well. One Bullet Away ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: On a lighter note: Over at our teamspeak tonight we started to have a discussion about all the classic quotes that came from this show that spilled over into our forums. I just copied and pasted what I wrote there below, but curious which ones stuck out in your minds the most. Although Colbert had some pure classics like: "All religions aside, those who cannot kill, will always be subjects to those who can." and the "Finely tuned Ferrari's in a Demolition Derby", we stuck with Pearson since he was pretty much a smart a$$ like myself at times "Hey kid...nice jacket"
  7. All I can say is "wow". I just hope that those that saw #7 last night heard what was said during the credits. This series truly showed why those currently enlisted, and those who have served prior, call each other brother. There is no stronger bond then family.
  8. "see, were not the only ones who do that with dogs..."
  9. Where's my GOLD MEDAL? "Guys are right. You CAN carry us like a sixpack."
  10. There's a bunch no doubt. But the Single Player aspect of the game, including a actual plot line? Narrows it down for me. Mafia to me was one of the true OG's. Outdid GTA series by far since it was grounded in realism. Go over 30mph, cops on ya. Run a red light, cops on ya. Go up a curb or deck some stranger, cops on ya. But the plot was great and one of the BEST ENDINGS to a game Ive played. Shocked me too because usually I cant stand 3rd person shooters. Shame they focused too much on the Driving. You can tell from the trailer alone its production value. Still looks good after 6 years, cant wait for its sequel, MAFIA 2 next year. MAFIA As far as Single Player plot MARRIED to Multiplayer goes? Splinter Cell - Chaos Theory hands down. Classic single story plot but the added element of those 6 coop mission you could play with a buddy that actually tied into the single player was outstanding. Shame the console had to ruin it's encore of Double Agent, now that was crud! Heres a clip from the CoOp mode. You dont have to watch the whole thing but you get the idea. When you did CoOp on expert mode, which we did , you only get the camera pistol - no weapons. Made for some intense fun, and ingenious how they meshed it with single player. For example is fast forward to 9:15 when in CoOp it comes over the radio the location of their target, that's obtained by Fisher's guest. In Single player, you have to secure a Special Ops Soldier without killing him to obtain that info - then the com's are from the reverse. Game is littered with those types of moments. Never seen a game do that before, or after. Shame cause it made it that more epic. Chaos Theory Sorry Viiiper, didnt know how to show the footage like in your post, so I just created the link. [media] tag doesnt seem to work, sorry only way Im used to doing it
  11. Since this is basically a Character Study Docudrama, if your getting involved with the Soldiers being portrayed in this, here's a LINK if you want to read snips from of the book. Each link from this article is a segment from the book detailing the Soldiers we are watching fresh off the presses at the time, check the date stamp. Thought I would share it since it was a good read without breaking into the book. Plus we got a week till Episode 6 lol.
  12. Anytime Floyd. Love that smiley, thats exactly how I watch each episode.
  13. Episode 5 "Burning Dog" - MUST SEE. Hope you are still on-board with this program. Truly not one episode hasn't left me in awe.
  14. Few things I noticed Viiiper if you want a AAR. I stood back and just observed you gents for the first hour and you did great. Not sure how the first time went, but sorry I couldnt finish that one out. All you can eat sushi and saki was too much for me to bear, so I had to charge the hotel before she picked me up lol. Good fun, hope you guys finished it.
  15. Start was my fault. Thought you guys handled it well after I came in charging with my Hummer lol. Was my fault for not asking for a sitrep before heading towards you. I thought you were way up there and needed the hummer to catch up. Turns out you just started and the enemy was within walking distance . So when the lead flew, it went active. My slop you guys had to clean up. That's why I had to see the mission all the way through. Karma did get me back in the form of Zeno though lol.

    Screenshots Here.

Adder I got a great shot with you in the cockpit. I sent those screens to Zebb. Classic though. Ill pick on him to post em up.
  17. One thing I recommend, when Im in the Commanders Room and pipe into a channels, I always wait for a response before getting the sitrep or intel. And vice versa. I usually just referred to myself as "Command" so lets say using your set up here, it would be something to this effect: "Command to Hitman" - then wait. If Hitman's actual or leader is available at the time of the request then its: "This is Hitman, go ahead Command" then relay that info. This also is applies in reverse. "Hitman to Command" "This is Command, go ahead,".... Reason I mention this is because if you dont allow the target team to respond, you WILL talk over that channels coms which could cause confusion. I might not be explaining this well, but its basically wait for a response before communicating. So lets say Viiiper is in the Command channel. Zeno is running Bravo Team. If Viiiper wants Zeno to do something and calls into his channel, what if Zeno's team is engaged and under fire. Pain to yap and stay alive. So when the call comes into the channel, Command to Bravo ..., the response would be "Bravo to Command, stand by" until Zeno is no longer engaged enough to respond, even if his men still are under fire. Works both ways. Viiiper is underfire and Zeno calls in Bravo to Command, Viiper just says "Stand by Bravo" until he is capable to respond. We found this helps out tremendously when fireteams are engaged. This way that team can communicate within their channels regarding the engagements without having to worry about additional voice that might overstep a crucial piece of intel that was said. EDIT: Good point, no need for the example lol sorry
  18. Found some footage of the real life GODFATHER and the Officers under his command. - Thanks for the invite there Zeno, Ill look into that.
  19. I dont think you would have to really use Military lingo fully within ArmA. But at least now you can understand, and forgive me when it leaks out from my mug here when I play with you guys. Ive been saying Roger instead of yes for half my life now. I never use it with my woman or when I play GTR2 or Madden. But something in this sim brings close to home at times, close enough to click in the lingo. At our Tourney though, the US side does the whole role playing thing, to the extent it kinda scares me lol. Sometimes its hard for Vets to let go, so I understand. But if it does leak out again over com's, at least this may help get across what's being said. I dont think you guys would have to use all the lingo to communicate back. Like having to say: "I'm Oscar Mike to the head" to relay your afk to the bathroom lol....at least I hope not. Episode 4 "Combat Jack" (explained in the show...) was good. Hard hitting, but good. The preview for #5 looked insane. Cant wait!
  20. Marine Corps wasn't too happy about the author reporting it either. But its how it really is sometimes. Remember that a portion of these officers came out of the Academy then rode desks or just ran training routines until they were called into action. Not as many with field experience and you see what happens. Anyway, look at the diff between the Lt and Capt "Encino Man". Ones squared away while the other.....well even Officers can "skate". Classic scene when he get's praised for almost killing his men lol, typical. "Captain America" cracked me up as well. As far as the lingo, I understand. It does seem silly at first. But they beat it into your head so hard during bootcamp and training, by the time your assigned to First Recon, its almost second nature. By the way, I forgot to add: "FNG" - F***ing New Guy lol.
  21. Gentlemen, I had to share this. This is a 7 part mini series that covers the first 5 weeks of the invasion of Iraq in 2003. I wont go into too much detail about it unless you ask. But think Band of Brothers, modern day. Some history about it HERE. This book was written by a "embedded" reporter that just so happened to be assigned to a Hummer that was in the Spearhead of the invasion. Wrote it afterward, which now turned into this mini-series, link below. Highly recommend it. All about the man next to you. Generation Kill If you have HBO and havent seen it, I thought I would mention it since its only episode 3 out of 7. If your interested after seeing the trailers from the link above, ask Viiiper about it. I will say they stayed so true to delivering the experience, the military language used is on the money. So if you dont know what "Oscar Mike" or a "Whiskey Tango" is, I put a tiny list of some terms below. Hope it helps. "Hadji" - General term used to describe people native to the Middle Eastern Countries, India, and Egypt. (Johnny Quest) "SOP" - Standard Operating Procedures "SA" - Situational Awareness "AO" - Area of Operations. "PUC" - Person Under Custody ie: "Got Two PUC's from that village." (Two people in custody) "Mikes" - Minutes ie: "Were forty mikes out" (40 minutes away.) "Mike-Mike" - Milimeters ie: "Went off like a forty mike-mike" (like a 40mm gun) "POG" - Persons other then Grunts "Tango Uniform" - Tits Up, which is a nice way to say not optimal conditions lol "Oscar Mike" - On the Move. "Casper" - Slang for that someone who always disappears when there's work to be done. "Geardo" - Term for the officer who has the latest/greatest gear on his uni, even though he doesn't know how to use it. "Goat Rope" - a useless, futile, or foolish activity. Basically a waste of time ordered by higher authority. "Whiskey Tango" - Slang for calling a soldier White Trash. "Danger Close" - Explained very well in the show ;) "Battle Rattle" - Slang for Combat Gear. So Full Battle Rattle would be a soldier fully loaded. Let me know what you think Gents. EDIT: Glad you enjoyed it Viiiper (Camel Killer lol) #4 This Sunday. Oh Rudy Reyes, the "beautiful" one who wanted to move to San Francisco because theres no fat people there lol, he plays himself. Guess they hired him as a adviser on the series since he was there, but they couldnt seem to cast him proper. So they asked him to play himself instead. Was Recon few years before 03 and did two tours there. Dudes the real deal.
  22. Damn, now I really want to see what photobucket blocked. Nice suits, they would be perfect for Sun Diego. Is it me or does the tan one with plastic nightstands below her neck look like she smells fish?? And if so, from where? lol
  23. Congrats on finishing Evo. I was going to take some screenshots, but the disco ended way too early.
