  1. Krambo IS game rage!

To be honest, I don't suffer with it much, maybe I'm not that competitive. Although Chivalry has got me close this last few days with getting tk'd just as I'm about to make a kill. Even then it just gets a minor cuss, at no one in particular.

Chivalry can do that. Still, quite a lot of fun if you can handle the stress!

Like Krambo buy a bullshit button and use that ;-)

I'm more likely to give somebody a game rage (as I say again, the enemy is by the big tree were others dont even like to look at trees....lol)

And sometimes my clumsiness kickes in....

But hey, I'm trying to have fun, and don't spoil others fun too..... Just let everyone play as they like and avoid annoying peeps on the battlefield.

Oh one more important tip, dont use the g button for grenades in ARMA III it gets confusing when you played ARMA II with G as an inventory button. :P

Yeah, that ArmA 3 change has seen me kill more than a couple friendlies. Fortunately I think I'm used to the change by now.

First person shooters and similar tend to bring out the worst in game-rage, as I've seen. Which makes sense I suppose, when you are able to lose your character in an instant.

  2. So I know as well as the next guy how frustrating things can be in games. You get into "the zone", and then tragedy strikes. Perhaps you are shot from across the map in arma 3 when you thought yourself hidden, or a friendly plane crashes into you from above or behind while playing war thunder, or you get beheaded by a teammate in chivalry while attempting to save them from an opponent.

All of these things are examples of things that I have personally raged over while playing games, but that aside I would like to hear some stories on what makes *you* rage.

What has happened in games to make you feel one step away from smashing your computer monitor with a sledgehammer, or doing something similarly dumb?

What have you done to help control your tendency to become irritable when playing games (or in exciting situations in general), if anything?

For my part, I complain fairly consistently while playing intense games. I know that it can get on the nerves of others, and as a result I try to catch it before it comes out but often times my restraint just isn't enough. Getting upset over a game can ruin the fun for others when you let it get beyond a certain point, and understanding that I would like to put a disclaimer that if anybody ever has an issue with my behavior - let me know. I'm not offended by constructive criticism, which is significantly different from childish insults made in spite or due to personal feelings of inadequacy in my book.

    So, about that rage?

  3.

V for Vendetta of course. Know that quote anywhere.

    My contribution:

Man with a Hat: "Boy, it sure would be nice if we had some grenades, don't you think?"

I swear I've heard that quote, but I can't for the life of me remember the movie it comes from.

    ...

Yeah, I've got nothing. Also you answered one of the few quotes I would recognize from a figurative mile away.

  4. I'm glad you guys are liking the game. You will get better the more you play.

This game actually takes skill to be good at. You can't just get lucky and kill everyone.

If you see a level 40+, you know he will be more difficult to kill compared to a lvl 20.

Sorry I couldn't be on last night. Been really busy lately. This whole working thing is not as fun as it seems.

Well, the whole level thing isn't entirely accurate. Quite a lot of high level players are still not very good, but someone above around level 10 will probably have a minimum of experience at least. I know for my part I was best at around level 20 because I had played it straight from launch until that point, and I'm only now starting to get much better than I was back then due to playing the game frequently.

As a random note, I went 79 - 19 in fist brawl earlier - about 40 kills above the second place player. Moments in this game where you get good enough to wipe out half an enemy team in one go are what really make it worth it, or where you get ten people in a row in FFA darting in and out of combat. As some of you know I prefer to do this with the quarterstaff, but you can use just about anything if you are good with it.

Just keep in mind that some classes are better on certain maps and in certain modes. Some of the maps are not very well balanced in this regard, the arena map in particular is massively imbalanced against archers and to a lesser extent the man at arms (in free for all at least), due to the fact that you have no ability to avoid enemies when they all spawn in close quarters with you. In that sort of situation, an incredibly bad player playing vanguard and charge killing everyone he sees with their back turned will do just as well as a skilled player trying to snipe, or a man at arms trying to kill enemies in melee combat in the short seconds he has before being hit in the back by five enemies greedy for the perceived (often rightly so) easy pickings.

  5. hey... thats stalone... respect... lol

I don't know about you, but I would pay for an action/comedy game with Arnold Schwarzenegger playing the lead role. His acting has a certain charm to it, like the kind you get watching a B movie. Sometimes hilariously bad, but always in a way that somehow still manages to entertain.

  6. Hello everyone. I just wanted to make a thread to keep everyone up to date with current sales going on, at least for the summer deals.

Steam has too many sales to list, but the sale *is* now active and I would highly recommend checking it out if you are looking for something new. To save the most, you'll want to go with the temporary deals rather than the longer lasting ones (relatively speaking of course), but its all good.

    http://store.steampowered.com

Gamersgate also has some decent sales going. Many of them overlap with steam sales, but I would check them out regardless. I've bought games through them before, and they have some neat little features (plus many of their games can be registered to steam as well, in case you prefer using it).

    http://www.gamersgate.com/

GoG has some decent sales right now, though only for the weekend (Atari deals). I'm not sure if they're doing some big summer sale as well, but I would still check them out for their cheap classics.

I'll consider making this a slightly more detailed list, to point out some daily deals and such over the next few days if there's any interest in it. Happy gaming. Let me know if I missed any sites or services currently running anything good, deal-wise.

July 15th: Removed links to sites where the deals have ended.

  7. So its turned into *that* kind of thread. Chivalry is awesome, but isn't for people who rage when they die in a game - because you will die, frequently, at least until you've gotten good. Or unless you camp back with a heavy crossbow, AKA the MH6 method (nah I'm just messing with you here). That being said, there's a simple beauty and elegance in cutting apart your enemies in close combat, versus shooting them from a distance in a shooter. Sure there's ranged attacks in this game, but they don't outshine the in-your-face action.

You can even wield a shield and a javelin, which should sound appealing to any Spartan. Perhaps the customization update will also allow for capes and cool helmets, though I don't want my hopes to be too high.

    watch-out-we-got-a-bad-ass-over-here.jpg

Well there goes any pretense of staying on topic. Not to say that's a bad thing, of course.

To ramble a bit, I'm not spending another cent on this game unless it turns out to be the best thing ever. I already spent 180$; though the 40$ ship package I might just gift to a friend. I could almost cry thinking of how much food I might have bought with that money. Then I remember that I "should" be on a diet anyway, so this could be a blessing in disguise. Also, I can always point to others here that have spent even more than I have to make myself feel better (in silence of course, I don't want to inadvertently cause buyers remorse - past this post at least). Glass half full. :graduated:

  9. I think that we'll need to wait until alpha and actually play this before we can be 100% sure on strategies for being awesome.

Personally, I don't want to pirate, as I feel like doing so is a bit dickish (though only a bit, given that it would be part of the game). With that being said, we could likely make quite a lot if we did mercenary work as a group. We don't have the group size to do enormous operations on our own, such as form fleets for huge raids and such, or large trading operations with coordination based on market conditions. If we made a name for doing mercenary work however, we could likely make a lot more progress with minimal effort. Of course it would rely on us actually being coordinated and skilled enough to be worth hiring. Personally this is something that I feel would be a lot of fun, coordinated work for pay from other factions playing the game. More fun than doing automated missions and such at least.

Trading operations and such have a place as well. I just think that doing work as mercenaries would be more productive given our somewhat limited numbers, versus trying to conquer the universe single-handedly. We would have to plan things out of course, and I'm perfectly willing to help coordinate this in the future if it is needed. Coordinate getting the jobs, and keeping potential clients, which would preferably be larger clans and such that will inevitably come to control things. Getting some sort of reputation, or at least getting someone willing to pay to trust us will take a little bit of effort if we actually want to get paid for work, but that sort of stuff isn't too difficult.

All in the name of fun of course, I find that doing this sort of thing could be a lot of fun if we got it organized. We wouldn't want to make long-term commitments that are specific of course, since that would restrict our own schedules, and it should be entirely on a volunteer basis who wants to do the mercenary work. I just think that its worth looking into. Which I've probably said in one way or another many times by now, so I'll check out.

  10. Looks interesting. Or at least something that could be useful, unlike many similarly advertised products (similar in advertising, if not in function). Also I second weedrew's position on MH6's comment. Top notch indeed.

  11.

Well, it's probably worse than you think. All Lucas Arts titles that are existing or will exist are going to EA.

For some reason I had forgotten about this. Unfortunate, but maybe it will just be amazing enough for me to buy it regardless of bias. In all honesty this game should have been out years ago.

  12. I've played some on the server so far, though Swarrs has by far played more (currently looking into some space travel). Its working quite well, though I'm thinking about going back to spawn to make it somewhat safe for anyone who might want to join (at least so monsters don't gang up on the unfortunate people that might enter during the night). If I can find the time between chivalry, and now war thunder, and...yeah there's too many games to play and so little time.

Thanks for getting this up in any case.

  13. Well, I guess I'll put down a couple of my favorites here while I have the chance.

Both metallica, go figure. Might be a bit lengthy. Also avoid the comment sections like the plague, as is usual on youtube.

  14. I hate teaser trailers with a passion because they don't show anything worth your time, but this is a game I'll be looking into. I was afraid for a while that it would never see the light of day given recent events with the star wars franchise.

That being said, it could be either hit or miss, so I'll just have to wait and see.

  15. Well, DayZ (the mod) itself is quite fun but for me it was a passing interest. Especially considering that the zombies themselves were far less interesting than the players.

This I'm going to keep an eye on, however. As for why he didn't use the ArmA 3 engine, that comes down to wanting to get it out months earlier than would have otherwise been possible, I would think. Though I think that was a bad decision, personally, the game still could have potential regardless of it not being "up-to-date".

  16. I saw some information on this a ways back, and it looked interesting, but to be honest if I bought every game that looked interesting I would have even more games added to my "bought but don't play due to other games" collection.

    It does look interesting though.

  17. Those campaign screenshots look badass. Enough to make me get back into it after my measly 2-3 hours the day or two after I bought it.

Plus doing some campaign first would (in theory) make me suck less when I actually play more multiplayer. I look forward to that, in any case.
