  1. Looks interesting. Gonna give it a go. Been a while since Sparta has had much going for ArmA 3, so this should be good.
  2. Back on the forum after quite a while, let us see if it goes anywhere.

  3. This seems interesting. I'll see if I can manage to show up.
  4. Sounds like you've got a lot of preparation going into this. All we've got around here is a plastic pumpkin with a light bulb inside that we place out front and plug in via an extension cable. Maybe next year I'll actually bother to do a proper job of things. Have a good Halloween.
  5. I'm not sure how much use I would get out of the lighting, seeing as I tend to always use my computer in a well-lit room. Though regardless, those all look like they would be amazing to own. Something to keep an eye on. That corsair keyboard in particular looks like a dream come true to me. Mechanical, per-key lighting, and plenty of extra keys to bind functions to. Ah, who am I kidding, they all look good.
  6. The day where customization to this (or near) this level is possible, of course, in a game - will be the day where games also have gameplay of such a deep level (virtual reality or the like) that it actually matters. I look forward to that day. Random button, however, is friggin hilarious.
  7. It doesn't sound like the facebook acquisition is going to harm things - though I can understand the hesitation associated with something like facebook. Hopefully the additional resources allow them to make improvements that are a greater benefit to the consumer than, say, anything facebook could do to screw things up. I haven't ordered the Oculus Rift by any means, but depending on how good it is once it actually is released (and if I manage to get a new computer one of these days), I was considering grabbing one. I'm not the kind of guy to early-adopt technology, unless said technology is incredibly useful - and while this seems like it could be great, waiting a bit longer doesn't hurt.
  8. Well. I know it's a bit of a late response, but thanks for the well wishes. Was pretty sick on my birthday as it happens, but all in all things are looking good. Looking forward to another crazy year!
  9. The standalone has been quite a bit of fun since I got it a few days ago. Glad to see there's finally a channel on TS for it! We should get a group together to play sometime, I've only managed to play with EMT thus far. I highly recommend the game for anybody interested in playing a decent player versus player shooter. It has tactical play. It doesn't give you arbitrary power-ups from things like levels or prestige (which are absent entirely). It has a decent variety of maps/modes. It has dedicated servers, and an active developer. Definitely worth it. If I had known something like this was coming out, I wouldn't have wasted money on the complete garbage that was/is (haven't tried it lately) Takedown: Red Sabre. You all have fun out there.
  10. Bit late, but I hope that everyone had a happy Thanksgiving. If that is too much to hope, then I at least hope that you all did not have an unhappy one.
  11. Yeah, I'm looking forward to it as well. I grew up reading The Hobbit, and I haven't seen any problem with the movies as far as the comparison goes. Hopefully the rest are still good.
  12. Does this need to be done even if you are already on the XML list, as I am (to my knowledge)? If so, I'd be more than happy to do so later. Also, this list is a great step in the right direction. A great idea, one of I hope others to follow.
  13. Good to know that its being kept in mind, thanks.
  14. There's plenty of time left to play Donzi, so I wouldn't worry about that. I believe that there needs to be some more obviously defined rules for tac-coms, and clear indicators when it is in use (such as editing the teamspeak channel name to specify as such). I have of course interrupted people when they have attempted to call out information, not going to say that I'm perfect in this regard. Sometimes everyone seems to not want to coordinate much, which is fine sometimes, but then I hear complaints about people flooding voice with unimportant comments, even when no tactics or important communications follow this. Or on the flip side, people wanting to coordinate and nobody seeming to even want to give them the time of day. I think much of this might be linked to the server opening to the public more, but I suppose we'll see. In short, if there was a more clear protocol on tac-com and when it was in use and not, I think that there would be less of a problem with off-topic conversation. It would make it easier to recognize that it is not an appropriate time to waste time, or is. Also, the two sniper spots are interesting I think. I believe that it might be sensible to utilize them (and their spotters) better however, as a sniper can be far more effective for his team if he relays intel and helps paint targets rather than simply shooting (as I have been attempting to do). This emphasis on teamwork I think would make it a good idea for any snipers to be on teamspeak. I suppose in-game coms works well enough however, mostly I just wish there was a way to limit the roles that good players might play from falling into bad hands (pilots and artillery are the most critical of course).
  15. There's upgrading to a new card, and there's upgrading to a card multiple generations above the one you own. A 7850 is a pretty good card, and that's also a decent price. I have a 6870, and when I got it I had to pay about 160$ I believe. Hoping the 8000 series is amazing (haven't really heard anything on it, however). If not, I have no qualms with switching to nvidia, as brand loyalty to me lasts only as long as the brand stays on top of the competition (or at least is about equal).
  16. The fact that this group is still around six years after its formation is impressive on its own. Most groups such as this fall apart in a fraction of the time. So happy birthday to the legion. May it continue to exist for another six years.
  17. This does look like it could be very good. I like to do more research before buying games nowadays though, so I'll look into it before making up my mind on buying. That being said, this sort of gameplay is exactly what I've been missing in games lately.
  18. I can only take from this screenshot that it will be possible to run enemies off cliffs, in a manner similar to ancient hunting methods (though I expect that was not meant to be used on people). If so, this might actually be worth getting for me.
  19. I'm not getting that issue with firefox, as I use it myself. Do you check the "remember me" box when logging in? Or just ask firefox to remember your information? I believe the former might be required, while the latter might do just about nothing. I mean I'm not trying to be condescending here if you already tried it, I just note that the simplest solutions are often overlooked. If not, you could always try reinstalling firefox or switching browsers, but I don't think its a firefox issue (or a difficult to fix one) if I'm not getting it with the same OS and browser. Of course it could still be. Good luck with this!
  20. Here I am, still using an Intel Core i7 920 - their first generation quad core w/ hyper threading (not really a gaming feature) in the "I" series, which basically was the generic power user level. Default 2.66 GHz, and I have it overclocked to a measly 3.2 GHz, and I can't imagine needing it at 5 GHz anytime soon (it can already run practically everything at high settings well, though not maximum). In a year or two I'll likely upgrade, once it becomes clear whether AMD is going to become more competitive with Intel in terms of gaming performance on their CPUs (which may soon be the case). Or if my computer breaks down, or something comes out that I absolutely feel I need to run at higher settings (though in that case I would need a new motherboard as well, and would likely want an SSD to boot, and...well the costs add up).
  21. Honestly, I wonder what they mean by assaults being slowed if you have people tied up. Does that mean that the assaults themselves are less dangerous, or that they come less frequently but are just as deadly when they arrive? If the former, then it would make it exceptionally useful in overkill to tie up people even when the alarm is going off and they might not be easy to defend (often many civs escape in the confusion of an alarm, while attempting to do the objective itself). Also, them solving the conflict when two or more people use a pager is a bit vague, though hopefully it means that two people are unable to use it at the same time. The other alternative is making sure one person is on it at a time until it is finished, but that screams off when different people could be taking turns responding to the person on the other side.
  22. Well I've used this particular software before, though always plugged the controller in (I didn't do it for mobility so much as to play games that go much better with a gamepad, such as Super Meat Boy or Dark Souls). Unfortunately I can't give anything beyond basic advice on this. The second tutorial video you linked looks fairly sketchy (annotations on it are terrible, as a minor note), or at the very least done by somebody who doesn't *quite* know what they are doing. Still, that might not be the cause of your problem itself. Installing unsigned driver software on Windows 7 (which I'm assuming you use based on the section, but correct me if I'm wrong) can involve jumping through some hoops, and short of simple solutions such as restarting your computer, making sure you are able to install unsigned drivers in the first place (which *can* require disabling user account control, depending on setup, though this is a bigger issue with vista), and making sure your computer's Bluetooth is working correctly (and compatible, though I can't imagine that would be a problem) I can't think of much. If you haven't already, I would check to make sure it works if plugged in - because that will verify that there isn't any issue with the software itself, or the controller. Other than that I wish you the best of luck, maybe one of our more tech-savvy members can provide a better answer.
  23. Definitely an amazing game, even in a beta state. Granted, there are occasional crashes and bugs, but they should be hammered out by release. Stealth runs are fun to do, though personally I prefer the multi-day missions - even if they are combat oriented (hopefully some where stealth is possible, at least on some parts, will be out eventually). Things that change as you go to some degree make them interesting to play.
  24. Well, it certainly was..."innovative" for its time. Also, if you could run games like Payday 2 "at all" on something like that, I would have to wonder what the last decades of technological advance have brought us. Perhaps pong would work.
  25. In the past I have flipped the mic up as well. Lately however, I haven't managed to do so, since my rage tends to come out on a moment's notice. What you've said about enjoyable games and them causing rage is about right, though for me I can have just as much (or almost as much) fun with a slower paced game. So it tends to be a matter of intensity - the more fast-paced and high-risk the game is, the more likely I am to rage upon failure, and the greater the adrenaline rush (though not necessarily fun, it contributes). For me, I also tend to point out the obvious more than rage itself. Or rather, its more self-narration than actual complaints (though those are included). Often times when there isn't much else being said doing so just comes naturally, though when there is a group of people I'm gaming with I am a bit more self-conscious about it all. Especially if there's coordination that needs to take place, such as in Payday to some extent.
