  1. our flat screen is like $600 so no surge protection needed, I guess all my hardware together might reach the 10K mark but that's it. But we hardly experience lightning strikes in electrical cabling since there are enough trees and tall buildings with lightning rods nearby. I guess the avaliabillity of tall buildings with a lightning rod clears most of our risks....
  2. well I cant remember one outage due to lightning, too many solar panels on the grid cause more problems here.... I experienced like 1 outtage every 5 years, mostly due to overloads in the dispersion centrals nearby. And since pour grid is smart (more lines and re-routes possible) an outtage takes at most half an hour. Overloads on the grid have never affected my local hardware and such, my meter has protection for that. Lightning strikes tall buidlings that are guarded nearby, or trees. Undergroudn cables are no-go areas for trees. Bigger cables (like 25 feet under ground) have mostly christmas tree plantations on top of them, no forests or bigger trees allowed
  3. power lines under ground are insulated, and under ground where the lightning flows away anyway, if power cables get stuck under ground I'd say they arent constructed well....
  4. it is, as is the british coastline.... but we need to team up with an active clan IMO, I'd say ask GA at the time, they consist of UK players mainly and are a merry bunch
  5. thats why most of the cables here are underground, and to be honest we dont have such ferocious thunderstorms..... the only cables above ground are the big power lines and they are well protected, as are all tall buildings like churches and so on.... mandatory to have a lightning protector....
  6. there are electric boxes that you can put between the wall mount and the tv's etc, that safeguard you from this kind of damage. In the Netherlands the whole grid is protected so no need here.....
  7. Ill update my WOT game ;-) takes me 2 mins problably. Naval Action has become better, and with the new engine we'll see but it has become very hard to play unorganised, and with the disbalance between the countrys the game is less fun.
  8. I have to say I gave up on Naval Action, there is no player base at the moment, and no coöperation, came back from hols to lose 2 ships to a rat so I ragequit (first time evah) hence the question, is there a game we play together?
  9. might do so.... drop the gals at the monkey zoo
  10. 36 oh man what youth..... hope you had a good one!
  11. we'll be hopping over to the UK tomorrow Salisbury.....
  12. Naval Action ia a nice but time consuming game to play, especially since the wipe the game has become harder, and more demanding for teamplay. Samurai and me are playing on the US side (currently at war with good ol Britain) and we joined a small but nice clan. the clan has about 30 members of which 15 are "active" Starting to do group missions again to get a few new players up and running, so if you'd like Ill take you along on that road. Yes we do expect another wipe, but since the last one took longer to come than exoected I think the next one might be a year away.... And I have to say, i didn't mind the wipe that much, sailing cutters again is fun...
  13. Guys we need you on Naval action, war has broken out
  14. OGR on sale too will buy a copy for my son now
  15. Guys you are missiong a whole lot of fun, and a lot os shabazzle going on. Major clan left the US to go brit, Me and Sam are still in a US clan, but the Brits are taking our trade, so we might jump over to the Brits again, although Sam is not happy. Well see in 1-2 weeks what will happen.....
