  1. How about Tuesday or Wednesday this week? (27th/28th October)
  2. Sorry Zeno, forgot the [/sarcasim] tags, I was getting at how busy the server was, that as Halli and Luggage had unfortunately point out to a few prospective Pilots that event without Air Support (other than transport choppers) it was taking a very short time to clear a zone. Luggage and Halli did a good job in the face over over whelming non TS players.
  3. We are obviously dropping positions because it's talking far too long to clear a town. Last night (this morning) for instance, I manage to get a shot off before one town was taken, and even manage to engage a couple of AI on the last town. Far too much to do ... That said, good work by Luggage and Halli keeping some kind of order in the chaos which ensued, and too Smiley for being extra patient (and more for getting us the hell out of Dodge when the armor from the main AO started heading our way at the side mission, good work bud)
  4. Why you coming on the Domination Server tonight ???? Oh... you mean tomorrow .... riiiight.
  5. I partly take responsibility for that (in the bad way), essentially we were stuck out in the open with no hard cover, the tree line was the only cover, and only served to restrict my view. With smoke we could have pressed on to the first building and used the corners as cover, but hey ho, at least we all got to practice recovering your team mates while under fire.
  6. I've given up real alcohol due to getting woken up at 6am by the kids so I've taken to drinking alcohol free beer. Currently on 7/10 Actually takes like beer.

Yea, works a treat, doesn't work on the Dom server tho.
  8. I was going to post this in Durkas Post about the TS Bindings, however that thread is valuable in its own right, and I don't want to detract from that. However ... I don't see the point of the commander being able to speak to everyone, thats why there is a CoC, Commander to Squad Leaders to Squad members. Whilst this may give an impression of an elitist command structure, do as I say not as I do, I don't see that we will need any speeches from Shakespears Henry V. I also think the Whisper to channels is not required. The commanders only need to speak to themselves, I found it irksome when Luggage was speaking to Zeno on the Commanders Channel and Zeno was whispering into the Bravo Channel, it was a one side conversation, information that we (as the Bravo team members) didn't need to know, and it restricted the use of Squad Comms because Zeno was talking to Luggage. If we'd had a contact we'd have, at best, garbled comms. I just don't see the need to Whisper to All the members of a Squad, that's why the Squad leader is there, and the can get the info they need via the Channel Commander route. The structure Durka is proposing is IMHO a sound basis for good comms, I am just not convinced that as a squad member I need to hear what the mission commander or anyone else is telling my Squad leader. The difficulty I do recognise is that the other squad leaders then become involved in Comms not necessarily intended for them, so I suppose it boils down to Information Overload at Squad or Command level. I would vote overload the commanders as they get paid the big bucks
  9. I PM'd durka about this without realising that there was a thread. One option is that we set up all the keybindings and export them to a Teamspeak .kbn file which is available in a link in TS. Prospective commanders would only have to download the file, assign their own keys, or keep the recommended one, and they should be good to go. They would have to export their own keybindngs first, as importing over writes your own whispers etc. I don't think their is a way to merge the bindings.
  10. The 2IC was implemented to try and stop the information overload on the IC, mainly with JIP'ers, but it's a fair point The team structure you outline, I would agree with, which was one of the reasons I suggested to Luggage that Bravo split into two smaller squads after we took the radio tower on Town One. I think it worked well, but it was done to the players in the team, individual, team, and squad movement was good, and I felt that if either of the teams had had a contact the other could have supported the initiating team well. The TS Bindings look just the job to me. T
  11. When you command, within reason, you can do what you like I would imagine. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts .... etc etc.
  12. Well any feedback from last night? On the mission I joined I thought it went really well. Bravo moved well and co-ordinated fire effectively (it helped having William Tell on the Javelin). I then took the 2IC slot with Ebden in command. What I also "suggested" was that Forrester take charge of Alpha. So whilst Ebden had overall command Forrester had charge of the squad and also had the task of keeping Ebden alive. Medic had Bravo. Strongharm stayed in as Pilot later joined by MH6. The biggest issue was that as we had some "Field promotions" the Channel Commander wasn't set up for anyone and it took a bit of time to organise this. I don't know how the actual mission went as I was at the Farp. Only four people joined while I was there so I wasn't tasked to hard, and with a few people dropping out I just filled the empty slots in Alpha and Bravo, however Bravo ended up a little under strength. As regard the 2IC slot, I don't know if anyone did it after I left, and Durka was the only one I know who was doing it before me. I think it still needs some thought, a lot of the time I was sitting at the farp, doing nothing. However I did alt-tab in from ts to find a su-35 bombing the hell out of the place. And someone taking pot shots from the tree line. My biggest failing was not using in game text as much as I probably should have, a fault that i should have rectified by running A2 in windowed mode. Its for the commanders/squad leaders to decide if the 2IC slot helped or hindered. The only thing I would suggest is that a template for TS is adopted and all the whispers exported to a file available here. That way players need only import the bindings, assign their own keys and can get on with the job.
  13. Thanks for that Durka, that was worth while. Sorry I had to bail half way through.
  14. I'll try and be there. Might be 1900 GMT before i can make it on.
  15. I concur with Luggage, you did a good job custard. It's difficult enough formulating a plan, and also leading one of the squads. Perhaps the person in charge of the overall mission should consider delegating squad responsibilities to one of the other players in their squad. This would allow them to concentrate on the mission objectives, and the squad leader concentrate of the squad objectives and keeping the mission commander alive. It's for people in charge to command, but people, even in real life, find it very difficult to delegate responsibility, and sometimes that's the best thing to do.
  16. This is the way I do it as well. TS to speak to the Leaders, or InGame to speak to the Squad. What we could also do is how we split the squads in Team Status on Sunday with Custard leading. We split into 4 man squads with a Mortar team. The squad leader (in my case Custard) greated a new group and we joined this. This gave the advantage that double taping Esc showed us where he was so we could keep or spacing and grouping from him. It would also give the advantage that we could have used the Squad channel for comms and only the four players in Custard's team would have heard this. I don't think we have explored the possibilties of In Game Comms fully.
  17. I pity the fool who don't stop their jibber jabber when zeno is around
  18. Sorry I had to bug out tonight after the T72 took Custard and I out, but my ArmA2 crashed and I had to go and do some stuff before work tomorrow.
  19. Why would you need this against the layout which Durka has indicated?
  20. Either the FARP or at the LZ with the Chopper to provide some security for the Anti Air/Mortar team. Might try both and see how they play out.
