  1. Couldn't have said it better myself Zeno. Had the words in my head, wasn't able to put it into writing.
  2. Well, the difference between us than being that you're viewing the tribes as enemies rather than civilians/allies. I'm not so thick as to realize that there aren't tribes with hidden motives or tribes that aren't violent. But again, we're trying to win them over to our side. And I think to some degree we've been successful. There are still incredibly violent areas of Afghanistan, but there is a silent majority growing that hate and despise the Taliban just as much as we do. We're there to prove to them that we want to help them and not destroy their country, kill their families, or control their lives. I can't say I've been over there or experienced it first hand, but being in the military currently with guys who've just come home from there offers me fresh input as to what is going on there. Every area of the country is different though, so one soldier's experience may not be the same as another's.
  3. It's always unfortunate to see the actions of such a tiny minority have so much influence (weapons, political power) over the majority. If I were to get right down to it, I quite honestly disagree with this unwinnable, unending war. We can never win. There is no objective, no victory conditions. We initially inserted into Afghanistan to overthrow the Taliban and kill bin Laden. We've done both now, but we're so completely involved in rebuilding their country and their government, that leaving is no longer an option. Same with Iraq. If it were up to me, I'd release the photos and start pulling our boys out ASAP. But I'm not so naive to think that will ever happen, or that its even a smart idea. It's just how I feel. I'm more concerned about terrorism brewing at home on our borders. I couldn't care less about some craphole country across the world with no resources for us to pillage. XD
  4. Well, then I suppose we disagree on a fundamental level, so debating on the release will get us nowhere. Where you think that releasing the photo would do no more harm than just being there and being Westerners, I disagree. I think that releasing the photo would do much more harm. If we cant agree on that basic level, no point in arguing any more. I'm no sympathizer to his followers or those who thought of him as a great man, but it's brash diplomacy that got us on such bad terms with most of the world already.
  5. While I'm normally inclined to agree with you Durka, the fact still remains that if we release that photo(s), that it very well could cause even more violence and hatred towards our soldiers. They could use the photo to rally more support against us. HOWEVER, if you want to hear my real, insensitive/non-diplomatic opinion, I couldn't care less who's offended by it or not. If anything we SHOULD flaunt it a little. I'd probably have it as my desktop background for months. But if it has the potential to put our soldiers at more unnecessary risk, I can wait. It's impossible to prove whether it would or not, but I'd just rather not take that chance right now.
  6. That map looks like invasion plans of Europe. So...Iran invades Europe. Sub either equals possible naval maps/missions, a full naval game, or maybe the Iranians have a nuclear sub(s) and those are nuke targets. Hard to say, but I'm definitely intrigued.
  7. It was a Blackhawk, however speculation is being raised that there was top secret, never-before-seen stealth technology on the tail rotor (and possibly other parts, but the wreckage is too hard to tell). The US is scrambling to get the tail sent back to US hands immediately before China or anybody else gets their hands on it in the black market. Most likely it was a blackhawk rigged up with similar stealth technology like that on our bombers.
  8. What good is he alive to anybody? He wouldn't have released any information to us. The man deserved to die. He died cowering behind his wife and sons to American soldiers, and that puts a smile on my face every day I wake up. There are pictures and video of the operation, but they wont be released any time soon. If diplomatic negotiations in Afghanistan with the local population crumbles because of one photo, all that hard work and lives lost would be for nothing. I have to agree with the Prez on this one.

    War in Takistan

I bet it's some kind of metaphor/joke about the current wars. Clever... but wtf, lol.
  10. Wait, what? Not sure how it changed anything besides emphasis, lol.
  11. I lol-ed HARD, especially when I got to your post. Magical Trevor was a nice touch too. What a horrible suggestion. XD
  12. I'd help out, but unfortunately I will be gone again from the 9th - 23rd. So I'm not sure it's worth taking up a slot and your time. Otherwise I would.
  13. Yeah, what Durka said. Time is a big factor for a lot of us, especially when we have so many in wildly different timezones. It would have to be a weekend-only mission with volunteers set in place a good while ahead so people can make sure they have the time. It sounds like a lot of fun, but anything more than 2 hours you could potentially turn players off to it. Keep in mind that people can artificially make the game longer without you even having to try. There are some times when even the most simple of tasks that the developer envisions could take a player an enormous amount of time to complete. I'm sure if you made the island well populated with lots of secondary objectives, players will find a way to make the mission short or long, depending on the will of the team.
  14. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! omg, I'm dying! XD THAT FUCKING POLE.
  15. Probably the best way to gauge this is to start a poll. Example options: 30min or less 30min - 1 hour 1 hour - 1.5 hours 1.5 hours - 2 hours 2+ hours / indefinite
  16. Agreed with Gunthar. 1.5 hours total is ideal.
  17. Que ArmA2 (and any other shooter with map tools) mods/missions designed around this assault. Navy SEALs, always stealing the glory. I know one thing is for sure. Those men will never have to pay for a drink ever again in their life. XD American heroes.
  18. Actually starts at 0:18, has a dumb intro that the uploader made.
  19. Haji: Yeah, something about Windows Live Movie Maker. Lots of stupid things happen in that program. When I render videos it puts a frame around it. Idk if that will ever be fixed. One of these days I'll get a proper video editing program. It seems that this is becoming a regular thing. I'm probably gonna record more tonight during our Tac session.
  20. Title pretty much says it all. Had some great missions last night with a handful of wonderful players. If I missed anybody in the credits, my apologies! Some pretty high speed teamwork if I do say so myself. GGs to all involved!
  21. Sounds like tons of fun. Would be great to have an option to take away GPS from all players except the squad leader. Would be a lot of fun to challenge peoples' land nav skills. Can't wait!
  22. Couldn't give you a year, but sometime during later Bradley and Abrams iterations. So, probably in the last 10 - 15 years.
