Is it just me or does it seem too small? ..
  2. I feel the same mate, some of the stuff just "pops" out when I see something or do something but generally I try to keep things simple so that everyone knows what the hell I mean.. Don't get me started on military Politics, I'm just glad that I managed to keep out of it on the whole..
  3. LOl, great looking show mate. As for the lingo it's almost like learning a different language Zeno, because you speak it all the time it replaces your native tongue, so much so that you still use parts of it in everyday conversation as if people know what the hell you are talking about when you leave the forces and it's not until you notice the blank stares looking back at you that you realise and have to translate it back into English etc so that you can make yourself understood.. Bloody "civvies"
  4. I should be in line for that, very nice..
  5. LOl, That's pretty much the plan, nicely put Mr Wolf..
  6. No ambiguity Zath' all we are trying to do is find out if we have enough people to organise structured mission nights where we will start pre planned maps on "veteran" level at a certain time and anyone who wants to join is welcome as long as they understand the rules we are working out right now including no join in progress once we are further than 5 minutes into the mission (one JIP only no second join) So people could join after the mission has ended but I envisage that they will have a long wait and most people will have had enough by that time and leave anyway. This will mean that in theory everyone who joins will have read all the relevant info posted in the forum leading up to the mission, they will know what the plan is and what their role is going to be in that plan. By the first mission all the rules will have been finalised so there will be no excuse for breaking any of them but since this was only posted today nothing has been decided so feel free to post any ideas you may have..
  7. Lol, I know what you mean mate I make these posts but it doesn't mean I will be available for every mission and why I thought giving a maximum time for each mission so that we have a rough idea of when it's going to end. That was my original idea when I said "pre-arranged mission" so that people could take a look at the map on their own first if they wanted to get orientated and some basic inte,l and for the mission leader to post up his initial plan and orders for what roles he thinks we will need, then people could take whichever slot they fancied and make any suggestions before we got started and save time once we are in the mission.
  8. Snowshoe, my post about the gaming issues was in reply to Medics comments in Durkas previous post, and the connection issues is one that is known about and may be corrected in the next patch if they release it ( http://www.legionofspartans.com/forums/ind...?showtopic=2448 ) What we are trying to establish now is whether enough people are interested in getting some team coordinated missions organised or are we going to divide into two factions, each playing their own preferred style of Arma? I don't want anyone to feel that they have to play in a way that they don't feel comfortable or enjoy. Viiiper, another server rule should be: Dead people don't talk on TS except to announce that you have been hit, after that silence. Personally I prefer having no time limit but maybe there should be a maximum running time for each mission unless you are about to complete it and everyone still alive agrees to finish it?
  9. I don't know if any of you guys have seen this site bit it just about covers every tactic and tool used in the game, it might be worth a quick look.. http://dslyecxi.com/armattp.html#introshacktacttp
  10. I know that a few of our guys are having stability issues right now which must be ruining the experience for them and it would be great to get them squared away before we try to move on. Maybe we should try to organise our mission nights so that we agree on a day and time to begin a certain pre-arranged mission and everyone who wants to play it and can make it turn up on TS 15-30 minutes before the agreed time, then once we have started the mission there is no join in progress, only very limited revives (1-3) and we give it a good shot to get it completed. If you want we can agree on a time limit after the mission starts ie 5 or 10 minutes during which time if one of our regular guys turns up and wants to join we can restart it just the once and after that "sorry but your too late", but you guys can decide if you want that or not, personally I would rather not but it could be done. Because the map will be known before we go in we can agree on a basic assault plan for the insertion and who is going to do what role and assign team pairs, then in TS before we start we can organise the squads into separate channels, whispers, commanders etc so that as soon as the map starts we are good to go, that's why trying to have a JIP after we have started can be a bit disruptive. What do you think?
  11. I understand what you are saying Medic but we have quite a few people now who have been playing this for a reasonable period of time and seem to have plateaued out at a level that they are comfortable at after learning the basic setup, and if this is where everyone is happy to play then that is fine. I know that a few people would prefer not to play with lots of revives and respawns on and remove all the aids that are currently running, but it would not be fair to force people who don't want to play like this to follow, but at the same time you can appreciate that for these more veteran style players it can be equally frustrating to play on the servers that have everything turned on. I have played in several missions now where despite all the tactics repeatedly mentioned in the forums and on TS people still: Join the mission and just run off towards the nearest objective, Continually chatter away on TS with information that has no tactical use at all because it has no reference points. Open fire on the easiest target they see first without knowing where their teamates are. Don't co-ordinate or communicate accurately with thei teamates until it's too late. None of these are that important if you are looking to jump into a mission and just enjoy the game, but people cannot keep banging on about how they want to play a tactical game full of realism because it will never happen if this is how the servers are going to run. Personally I haven't played for a few days because everyone seems to prefer this less tactical style on the "EVO" server and I have given up trying to get my head around playing like that. I honestly feel that the majority of people don't want to spend all night playing a one map mission and all the time it will take to do it without respawns because they would get bored and that's fine, but that is what I am used to and so my opinion is obviously biased when it comes how I enjoy playing it compared to you or anyone else in here. I would like to take you up on the point you tried to make about a RW squad. The military is not a democracy, you do as your told, you shut your mouth, open your ears, do as your told and learn bloody quickly or accept the consequences from your own NCO's as well as the enemy. Now we can try that style of teaching in here but I feel that apart from a couple of us who have broad shoulders and can take the pace it would lead to a team breakdown and a lot tears on TS, but it might be worth a go if people would actually listen and take notice of what is being posted and said, or at least admit that they don't really want a hardcore, tactical realistic game but would rather play "Arma Lite". JMO.
  12. I believe we should have no more than one revive if we are going to use it, and no respawns.

I figure since we have been playing this for a little while now it is about time we got the screenshots started.... To get the ball rolling here is Zath' blowing his littlebird up today..
  14. Lol, thanks mate good post. Another basic thing I would suggest is that we get this pairs system established, how many times have you got into position and taken a shot or two only to get killed by an enemy you couldn't see because he was behind you or an object or moved in from your blind side and obviously knows where you are? Two people agree on a target, one person is the shooter the other person doesn't fire so not giving away his position but takes up a covering position over the shooter, watching the areas the shooter can't see, so that if anyone tries to move up to kill him the guy covering can pick them off, normally there are only one or two floating about, once both of you have opened fire and given away your positions start to withdraw to an pre-agreed location regroup and then decide if you need to return for more targets (obviously "shooter" and "protection" can swop roles as many time as you like or remain the same depending on your preference) or move out to the next objective. Hopefully this will cut down the number of silly deaths we have and if we decide to run a mission with revives on (maybe one or two) them a teamate will be nearby to render aid once the area is clear, and it will mean that we will have teams of two moving about the map instead of random singles or groups of 4 and 5 making an easy target for any HE or ambush. Remarks?.
  15. Great idea Durka, and if people want to play with us just let them know that they have to check the forums (not a huge ask) for orders before they jump in. I think we should try it in any case it has to be better than what we are doing right now.

    Crosshairs ?

Yes mate don't worry I found out how to get rid of them, either in your profile file or by using the "TrueMod" veteran file.. ;)
  17. I have said all along mate that I don't want to put anyone off playing Arma for fun if that's what the majority want to do, but it can be very frustrating getting killed all the time and not completing missions because of a few basic errors that can easily be learnt. IMO you get far more out of this particular game when everyone can play it well as a team rather than as individuals all doing their own thing and re spawning every 2 minutes... Or am I talking cobblers?..
  18. Preference: Sniping/SF. Recon. Dislike: Armour. Vehicle based missions. I prefer to jump/Helo in and then be on foot. Improvement: Definitely more squad skills, mutual support etc.
  19. LMAO, and if they don't do as we say can we shoot them and bury them in a shallow grave never to be spoken of again?..
  20. Yes mate I suggested different channels for each squad as soon as we move away from the basics, I don't know if people are ready for it just yet?

    Crosshairs ?

The white bars that are there all the time when not in weapon view mate, I agree about the CQB part of it.
  22. The list is long but distinguished and I haven't had time to compose a full one but just a couple of thing to get the ball rolling. Weapons are Red at the start of every mission and stay that way until the squad leader issues the Weapons Green order. People need to form up together visually and identify themselves once we get into the mission before moving off, even if it means pulling back into a safe area on insertion. One person should be allocated as team leader for the mission (volunteers only please no press gangs) and then everyone listens to his plan and act on his orders. Make sure each player understands what he is going to do: A. As soon as the mission starts. B. Once we move out to begin the mission. C. In the event of a contact. D. If we have any emergency RVP's if we become separated (should be marked on the map before we start the game) E. What each players role is for the first objective (to be carried out for each objective but only one at a time) F. Who is to take control if the leader is killed (and remains the leader even if the original leader is revived) G. Who is 3rd, 4th etc . Keep TS chatter to a bare minimum, type the message on screen if you have enough time and it's not urgent. We all know there are loads more so someone else can add a few now..

    Crosshairs ?

Would it be possible to remove the crosshairs in the servers now we have all been playing for a while? I normally play on veteran and I find the white crosshairs irritating floating about my face, if people want to keep some of the other helpful stuff like markers on the maps etc then perhaps we can remove them bit by bit when we find we don't need them anymore..
  24. I notice that I get kicked from the QG server if I have a custom face on, has anyone else noticed this? It may be that my face file might be just over the kb's recommended (although it works fine on every other server) ...
  25. I think it's great that the Evo server is now unranked which makes playing it a lot easier but I have tried it a couple of times now and I can't seem to get into these missions in the same way as I do on the COOP server, I can't really put my finger on what it is I don't like about this type of game but I guess we all have likes and dislikes when we play.
