  1. Both my chars at 12m + SP and can fly Command/Recon/Hacs/Interdictors Within the next 2 months be able to fly everything Caldari lower than Dred/Carrier with the support skills to match. Presently working on support skills for Deathstar tasks and shield repping (Logistics) then I'll move on to upgrading Drones and Missiles. One account will be inactive for Battle Ship 5 ... Then I'm looking at Carrier. Just to give you an idea of the support skills both have ... Electronics 3.6m and Engineering 2m alone. These by Christmas will be at around 4.5 and 3.5. As some of you already know I'm focusing on Electronic Warfare with Command bonus secondary. EW skills are all unlocked and at a min L4 already. Will get off my butt soon and start mission running again, I still have my CNR fitted for L4 destruction, On that note i received a news letter from CCP and they are going to be making lots of new missions and have a dev team devoted to this task. SO BE VERY CAREFUL as a new mission may pop up and the mission guide will not have it posted, we don't want you to lose you favorite pride and joy now do we. I'm looking at joining an 0.0 group just after Christmas with Eoskye at the helm within the GoonFleet alliance, this is not a certain fact yet, but i have already been discussing the prospect, and will post any further information for those of you who may be interested in coming along to 0.0 as well. (Some I have mentioned this already too) If your interested just grab me on TS and i will give you a heads up on what is considered so you can decide for yourself if this is the path you would wish to venture into also. I will also be maintaining my empire duty as well and this part which I am involved in currently with others will not be compromised, I'm considering also leaving one char there also full time. Anyway .. lots in the future to consider for anyone who wishes to be part of it, by then i should have close to 20m SP and be flying Carrier and defiantly Jump Freighter. L8R
  2. Just so you also are aware High Value Targets change the ROE considerably and now you know this fact taking the officer from a patrol first will lead to chaos from the enemy in more ways than one. The same goes for killing the commander of a tank crew while they are turned out and sunning themselves thinking all is nice and quiet, Tank crews can be sniped very easy and thus give your team a nice fat juicy asset to use. Consider the above facts before opening up on your foe, If your recon guys are doing there job they can take the officer down at the same time the rest of you start your engagement upon a squad. Don't try this on an armor piece as this will lead to death unless you can positively ensure you take the whole crew out within about 2 seconds. Working together as a team will bring the TS talk and ways of going about engagements easier over time as setting standard rules don't work all the time, consider not trying to use any military jargon as you have an international team and we all talk different and comprehend what others say differently as well. Keep your communication as clear and precise in as few words as possible at all times, no need to tell everyone your moving up from point A to B when the whole squad is advancing for example. I was in channel the other night listening to you all for about the first 30 mins, the biggest thing i noticed was people talking while some one else was also speaking thus making it clustered up and indistinguishable what both in fact said ... Then you had to repeat yourself. Another facet i also learned from your TS ... NONE of you use Binoculars ... Get used to them as a scope is not a substitute, also be patient and observe for many minutes before making your advance or someone is going to die very early on in a game. Now this is a huge fault .... So consider what i say here. There was a target in a building and the original observer called it but did not dispose of this target, another said to hold fire, yet others were shooting at other targets moments later. The original observer then decided to move on and then could not see the said enemy target... some of you then asked several times if that building was clear, now this was the worst bit the answer i herd was " I THINK it's clear" and the next person said " I shot the guy on the 1st floor". Well was the building clear ... answer FUKNOSE !! .... you shot one target ... boo hooo , did you consider any more targets in other rooms or behind that building ? ... Maybe there is a gunner in a hall or on a balcony YOU never saw. Don't consider a building clear until you have checked EVERY room and hallway and balcony or ladder to roof. And don't ever tell another soldier you "Think it's clear" ... It is either CLEAR and 100% checked or it's NOT, no in between.... period. If your unsure, well check it AGAIN, don't just go "Oh fuk it someone else will do it" just because the team is advancing before the area is clean of hostiles and your SURE not half baked about it being under your control. The team that advances too fast before checking all behind them ends up being shot in the back from a lone snipe on a building roof top or window that you never checked. I know I'm being harsh but doing this will ensure you ALL stay alive far longer. Once you get to the finish of a mission and you don't lose anyone, All gather together in a group and take a screen shot, why ? ... because this won't happen often and when you do get to see it and be part of it .. Be Proud and look at your whole team and consider how well you operated TOGETHER. Only then you will have a nice warm fuzzy feeling of being the PERFECT Team. L8R Oh btw ... nice going regardless glad to hear your all progressing better.
  3. Medics, For those of you who don't know yet there is a "Bleed Out" script that you factor into your maps, this in turn has you slowly dieing from a simple flesh wound, or being unable to stand/walk due to a broken leg or even both legs. Now the medics role is to be able to get to you and repair your injuries, this repair is not instantaneous either, it takes time. During this time you either have to be in complete cover or have a fire team cover your position from advancing enemy while the medic undergoes treatment. Having this option incorporated within your maps gives another factor of realism to the event. However the medic is only as good as his/her team and in this situation the medic must remember to not be a gunner as if they die ...It's all over for the rest of you in the squad, just the same as if you stray too far from the fire team you then endanger the medic and if he dies getting to your aid you in turn just sacrificed hi/her for your own selfish needs and everyone else pays the price accordingly. So protect your medic and in turn they protect you. When you run medic/bleed options you can then have no revive or re spawn but have a "Safety Net" to use as an integral part of your teams equipment. This in turn can help in the process of team ethics and provide a balance within the game, helping you all move on to the veteran mode for the AI in coop missions. This is what i was meaning by having a Medic present, most of the hardcore one life servers run this incorporated in maps and after a while you will see the benefit of having this position available, especially if they can use an M24/M107 as well so they bolster your teams fire power. 4. Two games that have yet to be surpassed many years later on. Tribes 1 + 2 (Shifter Modification, Team Vs Team) Tribes made Quake and Unreal stand still in there day, The depth of teamwork and team tactics was for it's day outstanding, The additional content provided by Shifter just made that rabbit hole go on forever, Probably the best team vs team game around ..... Back in 2001. Did you like helicopter sims ?.... Janes AH64 Longbow Apache was the star performer here, nothing has come close since.
  5. Nice to see that it's all coming together for you all and your assault on a target is becoming favorable and careless tactics are becoming a thing of the past, thus your K/D ratio is blooming. You should all think about and consider the use of dedicated squad medics ... They can turn the tide if they know there job and the team works with them not against them, making there job far more difficult. I am also considering joining on an organized night, like I'm reading about above only, and fill an extra Recon/Medic position, not interested in any other role in the slightest. (Unless Solo tank whoring with 3 AI under my command) Anyway well done to you all from what i read
  6. Sounds like a great idea to get it to a challenging point for missions, Leaving the AI at regular ATM but limit the spawns or revives. Personally with team medics you don't need more than say one revive. Now how about Coop CTI occasionally also, Place the bitch Snowflake as your commander and i tell ya ... Ya better work and pull your weight or you won't get any toys to play with, She is excellent commander and expects you all to work as a team but place the AI on Super mode. (This is what we all were playing back at BDA) Talk to Floyd about the games there he will fill you in, as he participated previously when OFP was the biggest game at BDA with full servers regular as clockwork. Mission running is also a hit when you get the big hard ones like CO-24's + but you need a good team to beat these ones with no respawns or revives. Reason for CTI ... You will get other players who are hardcore joining for CTI, It's no walk in the park like Evo and teamwork is a must in both defense and attack. Yeah shit, hey you have to defend as well as attack and on top of that don't kill your gear as it costs your whole team to acquire it. This can be frustrating early on in the game when expenditure is tight, as you need a lot of funding to build the Aircraft assembly buildings. Attack choppers cost a heap as well, some players are good at setting traps and can steal the enemy equipment as well. CTI is probably the best Coop as you have to seek and destroy your enemy base to win, and as you know the map is huge. Once you have a grip on this in coop, Team vs Team CTI is the WTG.
  7. Well this is a turn up for the troops ... Time to get serious now your all do so well and brimming with confidence. Time to ramp up to Veteran Level AI and lower the revive counter, spawn counter, since you won't need them anyway due to this outfit working like poo on a baby's bum. BTW ..couldn't see an "I SuXor" vote in the poll, so i never voted.
  8. Medic that Ram is only 1066 Mhz ... NOT 1600 .. Your settings must be wrong in bios or you O/C'd wrong.
  9. I'm not aware of this possibility to run two monitors. You will stay alive longer with one monitor, looking at what your actually doing, and retreating into hiding to work out what you should to be doing via the map and commands.
  10. Elvis .. Arma Gold is the best bet from amazon like Durka advised. Durka, Playing Arma/OFP/VBS is where you need to get other games out of your head, The AI in these sims are generally better than any human participant, everything happens for a reason as the AI are non linear scripted like in COD/GR. So what your seeing is your talent you need to change, adapt different tactics and outmaneuver as they will not do a predicted movement or be as thick as dog shit as most games. Your playing reg AI currently, Wait till you try Super AI and no respawns, one life only changes a lot of the way you play. ... Ya think this is tough. Just remember score card does not matter so SLOW down, there is no end game timer and work together for the best outcome for the WHOLE team. If you get 20 kills and i need to revive you 12 times I personally would not think your wonderful, However if you only got say 6 targets and no deaths you make my game easier as i don't have to come wake you up from a dirt nap and place myself in danger also, Thus you would get my thumb up, I say that as i usually played team medic/sniper. We played no revives and no respawns, one life only so if you got injured you needed your medic close and able to get to your position. Stragglers or Rambo's usually died very fast and used to cry lots when they died.
  11. Cleaning out buildings is actually quite simple if you think before you act. Is there multiple access points ? ... one would assume the main entry is well defended, Use an alternative. Make sure a floor is totally clear before you go upstairs, and have a team member guard the stair well as you will get others nearby coming to the aid of a screaming AI. When moving from room to room stay near the walls not the center and eliminate angles from other rooms and windows. Move slowly crouched and as quiet as you can as you cna hear the AI running around in the next room or above you, If you listen carefully you can tell his position in relationship to yours and move at the opportune moment. Use your frag grenades to clear a mezzanine floor landing and don't step out use your peek/lean function looking into adjacent rooms and corridors. When going to clear a building use the outside windows and doorways to your advantage staying outside as long as possible and clearing as much as you can before entering. Snipers ... It's your bloody job to take out enemy you see in rooms and windows and on roofs and balcony's, Do yoru job properly and your team will be far safer. You guys don't use enough recon/sniper team members to your advantage, if you did this you will find clearing a town so much more simple. I could eliminate 3/4 of the inhabitants of a town by sniping correctly, Also use distance to your advantage. If your gun will hit a target at 600m well don't try to engage at 100m ... Use distance to your advantage and always plan an escape route before you engage thus you will live far longer. You all need to work together at close range from one another, the only lone wolfs should be recon or diversionary assaults. Snipers remember to carry AP rounds and use a H2 hummer to your advantage as well by attacking it at the range of the mounted 50 ... which is over 1km. you can clear out many enemy with a H2/50 from afar on a hill side in Evo maps very easy once you are a corporal , when your a captain get in a Vulcan tank as they are far more destructive.
  12. Do you do video rendering ? ..... If no you don't need 4gb of Ram (However it's cheap now so get 4gb 2x2gb sticks of GENERIC ram no over priced tight timing BS you pay double for) Now since you don't Video render or use programs like maya ... Save your money and get a C2 Duo E8400 SLI is NOT double the performance ... 2 x 9600's will not perform better than 1 x 9800 ATI crossfire kills SLI in the same given performance bracket. The ATI 4870 is frikin fast and cheap also ( Under half the price of the 280GTX and almost similar performance in most applications) SLI boards are super expensive as well and you will get just as good performance from a Gigabyte P35 DS3 So save your money on the CPU and SLI and M/B for Sli and get yourself a faster core 2 3ghz cpu and a 9800GX2 video card you will even have change left over for other stuff. Your rig will be fine for all the current crop of games and the next batch like Arma 2 as i'm betting you don't have a 30" monitor to display the resolution you need for SLI graphics setups. My 2 cents

So you wish to level up faster ... Read on then Killing the enemy is what it's all about and the quality of the enemy is point specific as in you kill a regular grunt you get 1 point and an officer 2 points. Capturing the enemy will give you more boost 5 points for a soldier and 25 points for an officer, To get the officer, kill all his soldiers and then severely wound him in the arms and legs, the capture should be easy at this point, However beware for reinforcements coming unless you already have blown the town tower objective. Engineer's ... Repair everything you can find with a repair truck, Lay mines and disable BRDM's and T 72's by placing mines in the wheel tracks and use a law to disable the tanks turret, crew should bail kill them and you got yourselves a nice tank. Ok now an easy way to level, Get what ever way you can to corporal and then jump in an H2 Hummer with a mounted .50 cal and head out to the objectives and park at range on the hillside and gun down all you see in the distance, you can kill even a tank with the .50, Once you get your self up to rank of Captain then swap the H2 for a Vulcan equipped tank, Now your talking damage ... Won't be long till your at top rank and all unlocked. If you don't kill the tower in the objective town the enemy will keep spawning reinforcements. Missions work well and the easiest ones are Ambush missions when you destroy an armored column, 4-5 players are the way to go here as you can Alpha strike the whole group in one go with AT's, remember don't agro the enemy and they will not move around giving you a clear Alpha to take the group out in one go. Roving convoys are a bit harder as you might have 1-2 vehicles who escape, sneak land mines on the escape routes before alerting them your presence will be the obvious way here. Stay clear of towns chasing convoy stragglers as you will meet a nice quick Rpg or Tank death. If flying a helicopter stay clear of the towns also as Shilkas will eliminate you very fast. The gunboat missions are nice and simple as well, head down to the docks and grab a gunboat, you need 2 players here driver and gunner and kill 4 enemy gunboats and your a winner with this type of mission, again group warfare helps but if you can shoot straight you won't have any problems decimating the enemy PT's. Once you can use surgical strikes, you can then become Chemical Ali or a Nuke bastard and destroy a whole area in a town thus allowing you to rush the objective after the strike and capture the area before reinforcements arrive. Larger teams are needed for the bigger missions than i mentioned before so consider this fact before you meet with you timely demise tackling something to grand at this point of your budding new military career. Try using the AI in your squad to your advantage providing ammo and repairs or even driving a vehicle for you while you gun, Use your binoculars and map religiously and remember to pack equipment for all encounters. 14. In Oz 9800GX2 is now down to $380 ($185 UK Pound) Which makes it the best performance to $ ratio out of them all. The 280 GTX is over priced by about 40% at least, and has Sweet FA better performance in all aspects. However prices are plumeting as the ATI 4780 cards in crossfire kick the 280's butt in performance and price making it an over priced lemon to say the least. From what I'm seeing the GX2 is probably your best choice currently. Read a few reviews and make your own mind up when you see the results and consider the cost of the card in FPS, With reference to what applications you are using, New Nvidia cards due out September as well. Edit ... $ to UK $ stuff up.
  15. Interesting article, However as i previously stated your monitor is only capable of X FPS or refresh rate in Hz as you would know the term. So in fact anything past this point is not displayed as even if V-Sync is on or off the device is not capable of showing the frames as some would have you believe. The human eye can easily distinguish the difference between 25 and 50 FPS as the signals received are able to be transmitted to the brain yet once the frame rate rises you then simply "Perceive" what is happening within the constraints of the media viewed and the limitations of your equipment displaying this media. So one can assume that after a given point in FPS each individual will receive different signals to the mind and a different result will be forthcoming. Watching a simple movie is far easier to compare notes upon where as a fast paced FPS game will have a different perception from the viewer and this is where the argument becomes clouded, as what the equipment drops and also shows upon the screen at any given point in time will be conflicting between all concerned, thus everyone will get a different perception of what they just saw. Throw into the argument packet loss and latency and also type of panel and color representation and on it goes ... However one thing that can not change and stays constant is that your monitor is the overall governing fact to FPS viewed, This is one area you can not argue with and will not make 160 or even 200 FPS stand up as if your refresh rate is only 75Hz .... 75 FPS is the MAX you can get Period ! Now don't confuse response time with refresh rate, 2ms response is the time taken for one pixel to change from a certain color to another color, this alone can be misleading information as well. Some manufactures state GTG or Grey to Grey which is faster than WBW White Black White which should be the governing factor as its going full spectrum to full spectrum. This is how they fudge response times for LCD panels. Another fact is the type of panel 6 bit or 8 bit, the 6 bit or primarily a TFT panel will be faster however it suffers viewing angle and colors available. So just because it says 2ms ...Don't be fooled. Ghosting in a FPS usually is not apparent on any of the newer LCD's today however not all panels are what you perceive and thorough investigation should be done prior to purchase or you may be sorry. Now getting back to the FPS part or the refresh rate in Hz, i currently do not know of any LCD capable of 150Hz maybe someone can produce a link to the said equipment as my knowledge is that LCD's are not capable of this rate. They also are not capable in the mainstream versions of producing "True" color representation or the refresh speed of a CRT. Anyone who owns an LCD who had a quality CRT like a G520 will know the difference, thus not be swanned over by market hype, or fanboi reviews or simple idiotic posting with absolutely no data to back up there claims. LCD panels have come a long way and some are very good at a high price 2k, however you can not beat a CRT for computer game viewing or any high end photo work. SO now i just threw all that mumbo jumbo into the debate about frame rate, adds another perspective to what the individual "Perceives" and what they consider to be a FPS rate that they can distinguish between. So maybe you can see a difference over 60 FPS, Great is all i can say, i do know this that it will not keep you alive in a shooter game any longer but your game play experience may be ... Well "Smoother" or a less distinguishable jerky sense of motion between the blurr or movement between the frame refresh rate of your monitor. This point can come at a very high price and bleeding edge bragging rights can leave your wallet well and truly empty.
  16. "Im with VIIIPER" Hmmm that sounds kinda kinky for ya Vi Private locked server .... WTG ! (Don't even consider opening it up to the general public) Lots of cheaters to repel in this game, there is Anti Cheat mods but they are a pain to install and use and they are not complete by any account, the bastards still ruin your game experience. Some poor bugger has to manually remove the said pests which require everyone to be on the lookout for wankers as well ... Ruins everyones evening. You can't just ban via game ID either you need to install IP mod banning programs to be on top of the wankers. Play with known people only, otherwise you get dipshits joining the game and destroying the gear you need to do objectives and transportation vehicles, another favorite trick is to injure the team players as well. Gets lame having to walk for 15 mins to get back to the action. They also run ahead and agro all the darn enemy for miles around and you end up getting into situations you don't want to experience with a small dedicated team. Outsiders just make this game miserable for all involved unless you know that they wish to play the game with the same outlook like your team.
  17. Yes, Athlon saw 164 FPS ... His monitor showed him in the corner of the monitor the digits/numbers from his reported FPS from the console command. However his eyes never saw ANY difference from the picture displayed upon the screen above the rate of 56 FPS. (With perfect 10/10 eyesight this is the maximum distinguishable amount the eye can comprehend) His monitor was not able to display any frame rate increase upon the screen above 75 FPS. (This figure is a TOP end LCD's maximum rate, most only do 65. Only a Sony G520 CRT can top that at 120, Normal cheaper Crt's fall back to a max of 75-85)
  18. Mod setup can be simple or can be down right frustrating for some ppl, I suggest you all understand how to install and initialize mods before you try going down this path. SOME MODS require Queens Gambit extension to run and also other mods installed also... be careful and make sure your command line loads the mods in the correct order or trouble can be found as well. Until everyone is up to speed i would suggest using the original content with as few mods as needed like sound and vegi fixes only, then progress with adding one mod at a time as some mods clash as well. (Same named Pbo's with different content) Arma is still in a league of it's own regarding game play and realism in a battlefield game, No the graphics are not Crysis and it has inherent issues ongoing, However if you can look past all the problems this game is still a very good piece of work and so far no other software company has even come close. Use the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle when installing content for Arma and your game playing will be less frustrating and the learning curve a little less frustrating, once you advance and get acquainted move on to bigger and better additions. Zebb, Do you remember them wishing to add content from VBS in the first Arma ... Maybe Arma2 will have lots of cool stuff from VBS, This will set the standard apart from OFP2 > Arma2/Vbs. Considering Code Masters have never produced a FPS game prior leads me to think that OFP2 will fall short from the original as it will be produced to appeal to the masses as profit margin is going to be a factor for them also. The also are going to find it difficult to top the original without BIS helping them due to all the complex data transfering from server to client. Net code for OFP/Arma/VBS is in fact some of the best around if you take all that is happening on the field into account at any particular point in time.
  19. Arma still has issues if your not aware, However that said they are sort of minor compared to it's disgusting release. A - Vegetation problem, You hide behind bushes and trees, The enemy still see you through them and this has yet to be overcome so don't think in coop you cant be seen by the enemy, Yes they will shoot you very fast as well. B - Sound issues ... gawd the sound has improved however it's still woeful and you can't rely on sound to distinguish which direction or gauge the distance to your target whether rifle fire or a vehicle. Apart from both of those ongoing problems the game plays smooth and at very good frame rates, Diesal who comes in here to TS still plays Arma occasionally and OFP still. If you see him on chat to him regarding Arma and setting it up to run with minimum problems. Beatty is another player you might see in TS, he is an old friend from Vet Squad (OFP) he would also give you any advice and help, so don't be scared to ask either of them. Arma at BDA was bad news from both perspectives as it was a POS out of the box and needed lots of work, add that to being forced to play the game by the Breeze Dictatorship, You wondered why i never bothered with the game and not anyone i know bothered either, Most players i knew from before BDA left there servers after Breeze decided to kill off the game that had the best following at BDA ... Yeah OFP. If you guys enjoy Arma ... All being fun and entertainment, I can help you out by getting some old friends to drop by and help you all get acquainted if you would like this to happen (Let me know), however I'm not interested in participating.
  20. Nvidia 280 GTX - $725 + Nvidia 260 GTX - $460 + Nvidia 9800 GTX2 - $575 (6% slower than 280) Nvidia 9800 GTX - $265 (Sli or Crossfire two and kill the 280 with change to boot) Nvidia 8800 GTS/GT - $215/$175 (Again Sli wins compared to the 260) ATI 4870 - $260 (Crossfire two and you whip a 280) ATI 4850 - $195 (Crossfire two and be 15% behind the 280) Now lets put some reality into effect (Pay to play LOL) Crysis on a 9800GTX all settings on High (2nd from max) @ 1900 x 1600 equates to average frames of 38, same on 280 GTX has a massive increase in frames of .. 4, Boo Hoo ! So for your extra $150 you get $37 per frame. yet the ATI in crossfire will return you a saving of around $250 and be even better at the EXACT same job. As for games coming out needing this new fandangled card is purely skeptical as Games as WE already know are 1-2 years on average behind hardware specs, Nvidia is reported to be showcasing new models later this year 99XX .. So why would you pay a premium for a 280 when you get no benefit currently in games. OH and while I'm on a roll AMD becoming competitive with CPU's ... LMAO give me a break, The E8400 is still the top dog by a very long way for games, Yes it's a dual core ... Quad core is not required for ANY game as NONE can utilize four cores! ... Try Overclocking your AMD to past 4ghz ... Blaaa You Can't ! But the Intel Cpu's can hit 4.6Ghz. The price difference between AMD and the Intel is negligible also, so that side of the argument doesn't wash either. Currently the best value for money would be this setup - E8400, Gigabyte p35 DS3, 2gig PC800 ram (Nothing fancy 4-4-4-15), 9800 GTX ($570 AU) You will need a brand name 500w + PSU and if you wish to clock it a decent after market cooler, but in its stock form this will be the best value game setup. Good frames with almost every game on max at a min of 1600 x 1024 or on a 22" lcd barring Crysis the hardware hogget.
  21. Since there is a lot of talk and hype starting regarding new FPS games coming out, I decided to remind all what it "Was" like to play one of the premium FPS games. Here we leave all the notorious individuals behind to have a game with a sense of Teamwork and Satisfaction, achieving the maps goals and keeping all the team alive till the very end. Once this level of game play has been seen and you the individual have experienced a game with like minded players you get a great sense of achievement when you finish the map. The general FPS game suddenly becomes very mundane to say the least. The type of game I'm referring to here is the likes of "Flashpoint" "Arma" "VBS" and possibly "Ground Branch" (This last title i know nothing about) These games are designed for TEAMWORK, Individual score mongers should exit through the door to the right immediately. If the final score card is what you consider to be your defining guidance of how well you did the job at hand , Your not going to enjoy this type of game, Why ? ... Because score means absolutely diddley squat. The focus is on team tactics and getting your WHOLE team home alive, For this there must be balance among the team, Someone has to be the engineer, Can you blow the objective if you all are snipers. The team medic is the most vital position as that person alone can make or break your day, Keep your medic alive and you in turn stay alive right. Lone wolf runners and gunners last all of about the first 1km ... Sometimes only to the top of the first hill. These positions may not appear to be the "Fun" deals however when your crawling along the ground with shattered legs, Oh boy are you glad to see your team medic. If a player needs ammo or a change of weapon, Help them to get this done done just say are "Screw You" if your flying a little bird at the time, Pick him up and fly him to the ammo crates. It costs you nothing to be a team member and player in a supportive role even thou you may be a gunner. Teamwork is the key element. So since you get the point about the teamwork balance of roles and working together here comes the hardest point that many new players don't see upon the box, the learning curve ... yes it's huge. No your not going to jump into this and be good by any means your going to get pawned since your normal bunny hopping running gunning and spawning days are over, finished kaput !, Tactical shooters require the players to interact on a whole new level which the average game player has yet to experience. Which title will be the winner ? ... My crystal ball isn't working however from my game knowledge i can presume there points, OFP/OFP2 ... Don't mix them up together, Code masters has never produced a FPS game like Flashpoint before this will be there first effort. Bohemia produced the first OFP, they also produce Arma and VBS, VBS is a military training simulator only and OFP 1 and Arma were there general game play versions to the masses. Maybe they will get the next title correct, Arma is actually playable except for 2 major issues still plaguing it being the vegetation issue where the enemy see you through it yet you don't see them and the second is the horrible sound. Considering there past performances maybe Arma2 will be there winner. (I favor Arma over OFP2 ATM) Ground Branch is from Red Storm who have a long history of great FPS games ... This should be a winner as it comes from a premier game development group but will it be as immersive as Arma ? Time will tell, Remember OFP/Arma/VBS have insane learning curves, maybe Blackfoot (Ex Red Storm) will be tone it down a bit to appeal to the general masses and produce a game similar to original GR or even Delta Force. Now this point is the most hit and miss, Will the game have a community ?, OFP had a huge community making mods and maps in abundance, My OFP folder was 20 Gig ... no shit. The community was what made Flashpoint not the game. Same as with OGR the community made this the game it was to become. So an Editor and SDK is a MUST have from day one, not a broken promise as it will come soon rubbish we all have seen this before hey. So to reiterate it in simple terms ... No friendly editor or SDK INCLUDED ... 3 months later a dead game. Must have this fact to grow to what we experienced with OFP. Lets assume all titles have great out of the box player ability and support and a nice editor which will become the leading game, Obviously the one which has the largest community correct ?, Time will tell in this regard. Also will you be able to play several games, simple answer NO, the learning curve is so steep and the game content forever changing will only add to the delemer for the prospect of which title to choose. MY experience of many years in online games tell me to say this fact " Wait and see what develops and make a choice after you consider all aspects from the leading three contenders After you see the game and where the community is heading". This type of game will have you the player entertained for a very long time in the future if the title really is exceptional and you will not have time to split yourself among two or more game titles. These games require a high level of interaction on a team basis and the objectives take a great deal of strategy and tactics to complete, not to mention the time to finish a map also, they are not your 10 minute rounds like in most FPS games and therefore will not appeal to many players for this fact alone. So there you go, an unbiased account from the past for all of you Spartans to consider with the new titles coming around in this type of game. Hopefully you can decide what to play as a group which will give countless hours of enjoyment and a fun game experience for many months to come, even to the point of producing game content to make other groups or clans want to play on your "Professional Strategic/Tactical FPS Server". Time to discuss the future prospects and pick the winning title to improve on what it means to be a Spartan. Regards Mut
  22. Yeah ..no DX 10.1 ... That's for the next model in another few months. As for the GTX280 being king of the hill ... Errrr , try comparing it with respect to cost, This card is way over priced as you can get a 9800GTX for around $250 here now and even 2 x ATI 4870's are about $480 which will leave the 280 in the dust. ATI currently have the best value card currently. If your game supports SLI ... this is the best Bang/Buck option with 8800- GT/GTS/GTX all coming in front of the 280 in the stakes for fill rate, However the 512 mem bus on the new cards should be a huge improvement. Also rumors of a huge price drop at end of july on the 260/280 as Nvidia is overpriced and losing market share to the new ATI cards ... OCAU reports a 30% drop in price very soon.

  24. NEW EVE SERVER ..... Yes a mirror to go play upon. Ok ... First bit .... READ WHAT I SAY SEVERAL TIMES if your interested as I'm not providing a help desk to do this as ALL the information is contained within this post in a monkey see monkey do kind of way even a numptie can get it right first time around .... GOT it Server name > Singularity (Testing Server) What it's for ... Testing ships killing others and having fun without hurting your stats ect on the regular server. Connection ... Read below as to how .... Uses your current characters and no detriment in any way to skills and stats. Do items cost isk .... Yes ... However any item is only 100 isk ... Yes ONE HUNDRED even fo that faction module or that flash snake implant or even that faction raven .... Yes repeat ..ALL ITEMS 100 isk each. So now you know the crux of this server, Do ppl play upon it ... hell yeah ! ... Are there any rules YES !!! A - NO POD KILLING ... you will be banned. B - NO Killing at stations ... The beacons are for killing each other, go to the right area for 1vs1 or FFA C - You can do pretty much what ever you like just be nice to others and don't try greif tactics ..you won't be there long. D - If Beacon X says cruisers and below ... Don't go there being a dickwad with a battleship. Well thats about it in a nutshell ... not too much to ask am i right. Ok still interested and wish to join this server ? here is how you do it .... Follow my directions as no more help is forthcoming so don't ask me how .... I'll direct you here instead. First thing is to create a new folder in your program files (Or where ever you installed Eve) Original location C:\Program Files\CCP New Folder You Create C:\Program Files CCP-Singularity ( File , new folder and name it as i stated ) Once you have your new folder Directly Under your original one then copy ALL files from original folder into the new folder, be careful you don't end up with another CCP folder inside the CCP-Singularity folder when copying over. Now go into the new folder and into the sub folder "EVE" and find the executable file (eve.exe) Right click and add a new shortcut to your desktop. RIGHT NOW rename that new shortcut to "Singularity" before you forget which may be which. Now the hard part (For some) ... You have to modify the command line to execute the run. Right click on the shortcut icon "Singularity" and go to properties and a new screen opens up. and make sure your on the "Shortcut" tab. Now upon this tab you will see the section or box called "Target". Delete all the target line and replace it with the one i give you below and then hit apply. If it will not apply you have done something wrong or you missed a letter or space in the copy n paste below. NEW TARGET > "C:\Program Files\CCP-Singularity\EVE\eve.exe" /server:87.237.38.50 Now if you have followed the directions above when you click the new "Singularity" link you connect to a different eve server ... Too easy right ... Set your settings and your character up to your liking and your almost ready to roll. You will spawn in some random system, don't panic just join the chat channel "moveme" and ask to be moved to the zero zero system where the action is, think it's FB-MLJ (Can't remember but its shown in the moveme channel when you connect to it) If an admin is in there he will mover your char to the designated area ... If not get a shuttle n leg it over there. Once in the new system there are 2 stations ... Top station is where you buy ships and modules, second one down is where you can repair your damage. Remember do not kill ppl at stations don't even target them. As i said once at station purchase your ship and fittings to your liking and go have fun, as i said earlier any item is 100isk , So a fully fitted raven with the lot si going to cost you 1000 isk ... LOL ... too good to be true right. Once set up undock and look at the beacons ... The name designates what happens at that beacon Eg FFA-1 Battleships, this is a free for all in battleships EVERYONE is a potential kill. The team vs team beacons are designated also, or if someone using the area just warp to a planet and do your stuff. NOW READ BELOW CAREFULLY Play by the rules or you WILL GET BANNED. The actions on this server have NO IMPACT on yoru character on Tranquility ... If you lose a raven you don't lose it in the real game, If you get podded and lose your implants ... NO you dont lose them in the real server. Spend isk ... No you don't spend it in reality ... This is all 100% seperate from the Tranquility server. Don't panic your stats will not be up to date, This server is updated with the main servers info once a month so your skills could be 4 weeks behind the actual level your at today. NOTHING on this server has any impact on your real characters. However it all looks the same and is identical .. So go explore or have fun ... Fly around 0.0 and look for complexes or just go for a look, Do what ever you like just play by the rules, If your not sure ASK IN LOCAL. Well that's about it ... Give it a go if you wish, This is a great opportunity to kill Viper or even me ... And if you get killed all you lose is a lousy 1000 isk LOL ... I was there earlier with a friend and we just played till armor testing frigates until the final battle ... Yep i got my first PvP Kill mail woo hooo ... and it was a nice juicy 44m SP char ...how sweet it was, but i have a feeling he was being nice to me since I'm a nooblet. Server is updated once a month and you may have to delete and recopy your original file folder over every now n then but it's not a lot to ask for the great learning peaceful environment it entails. (Be warned CCP Dev's are in this server all the time Don't be a wanker, once banned ... Your gone for good) Side Note - Genji Ancient (Scott) This is a friend who introduced me to this fun at zero cost option, he is a long time player with GoonFleet and will be coming by our Sparta server to help train and teach you guys if your interested so if you see him in TS ... Make him feel welcome and talk to him he is cool guy and extremely helpful like Eoskye (Leonard). Scott will be more than easy going and will endevour to help you all in aspects of Eve and even give you a kicking to show you some tricks, Thew singularity server is the perfect environment to LEARN EvE without the ganking greifing asholes you find in the real Tranquility Server. Props to Scott showing me this option and i welcome him to Sparta also, You will see him regulary i hope and maybe in other games we play in the near future also. This is a great asset to have for all of us here who play EvE. Thanks to Scott Enjoy this new option guys Regards Mutilater
