  1. Sweet Jesus . . . . . . PASS THE EYE BLEACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. It's screw down and the base of the heatsink is way smaller than the plastic mount, so would be impossible to have the plastic frame in the way. But I'll reseat it later and see what that does.
  3. CoreTemp gave exactly the same readings: 30, 30, 38, 39. It's an aftermarket cooler, a Zalman 9700, so I guess it's not seated right. Maybe too much or too little paste??
  4. Downloaded & running, thx. It's showing cores 0 & 1 running at 30 degrees but cores 2 & 3 running at 38 & 39 degrees. Is this typical, I would have assumed all 4 cores to be in a close range?
  5. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've had a problem with directional control vs. head position and the head-fix has usually sorted it out. However, in last night's Tac Dom I must of had half a dozen or so instances where my directional movement went to pot and all I could do was swivel my head and move in random directions, then when attempting the head-fix it was actually killing me? At first I thought I was just unlucky being shot at the same time but after the first couple I realised there was never a gun shot, even silenced. So the next time it happened I put myself behind hard cover, tried the head-fix and instantly died. The only time the head-fix worked was when I respawned at base first. I recall one other, possibly Cent had this last night but any others been troubled with the same? It makes playing almost impossible as movement is chaotic and aiming / firing near on impossible. It hapened just as SarMedic asnd I were taking out a tower: I only just made it to the tower and ended up suiciding with the charges because I couldn't move myself out from the tower legs!!!
  6. Nice job, clearly put. I still have some way to get to have all 10 of those come as second nature but we applied a lot last night, in the face of an intelligent Opfor!
  7. ALPHA SQUAD Good games tonight, great work from Andrewman on the first missions, good leadership. Really enjoyed taking over the squad, not my first SL role but for me my best yet. Thanks to SarMedic for solid point-work, good guidance and clear comms at all times. Great teamwork from Cent (relentless Corpsman ), Iceman, Tyler and Maestro, wouldn't hesitate to team up with you guys again. Thanks, Watchy
  8. Got the update from this thread but he doesn't mention where the other job is: GB Update
  9. Not scrapped but as the lead guy behind the project is now working for another studio, to pay the bills, Groundbranch may never materialise.
  10. Maybe, but that would require a mobo change as well, so not even on the radar. This was done to give best possible performance increase with minimal investment / hardware change. Maybe I'll swap back to AMD for a future build . . . . . .
  11. Anyone know of an analysis tool I can use to monitor the core temps? I have Intel TAT but it doesn't work on 64 bit OS and I'm running Win7 64. Thanks
  12. Ooohh, super smooth! Early days but gameplay was silky smooth in comparison to the C2D, no stutter at all. I'll keep an eye on the frame rates but initial effect seems to be an average 5 fps improvement. Didn't really expect that, so an added bonus.
  13. My setup currenty has a Radeon 4870 with 1024mb DDR5 and 8Gb of PC8500 RAM, so as you can see, my CPU has been the bottleneck for a while. The Q9550 runs stock at 2.83Ghz, which is a heck of an imrpovement over the 1.86 Ghz of my C2D. Plus once it's bedded in it should be comfortably OC'd beyond 3 Ghz. Oh, and I overcooked the price, it was a "special" at £144, so even better than planned. My expectation is this now gets me through at least the next 18 - 24 months without any real concerns.
  14. Bit the bullet and ordered a Quad core Q9550 today, for the bargain price of £165. As I'll be jumping from a C2D at 1.86ghz I'm expecting some healthy improvements for Arma2. Should arrive tomorrow, so will spend the evening trying not to feck up my PC!
  15. Do I even need to answer that? Jeez I knew you red-necks were weird but Christ-on-a Bike!!!
  16. Something wrong witha program when the lead character humps green aliens!!!
  17. Exact same thing happenend to me. It is the audio driver within catalsyt, you need to ditch it and you should be ok.
  18. Nothing so adventurous, just a humble buyer, of car bits. Interestingly, if you follow the "B4100", south-east, you quickly come to another large camp. This one is active, it's DMC Kineton: One of, if not the largest munitions stores in the UK. The neat little rows of "buildings" are in fact the underground storage bunkers. I believe they are all for conventional munitions but it would still make one hell of a whole if it went up!
  19. This is where I work, or at least the large grey block just to the left of the "A" is: Gaydon from the air. The rest of the buildings are Jaguar & Land Rover facilities and the airfield; although I hear is still theoretically useable is now our shared test track. But as you can see, could be an interesting assault? Back in the 50's this was a "Cold War" V-plane base, although I believe they only flew Victors & Valiants, never any Vulcans.
  20. Haven't done that yet but I have perfected (in my head) exactly how I would mount an attack on my place of work! Would even be able to use the old runway as evac point.
  21. Custard did ok, until lag got the better of him. We stuck to the original plan putting the Humvee's safe then moving in on foot. Opfor did a good job of slowing us down in the trees but we broke through in the end. Excellent point work from Tholozor. Thanks to the remaining team when I took over SL duties from Custard, pleasure to fight with you all.
  22. Enjoyed tonight, especially our "tank rampage" Medic, sry for the TK but we were taking fire from a foot patrol in your direction and your head appeared at the wrong time!
