  1. Hurricane? Not so dumb....I actually remember a few of those from child hood.... Edit due to editor crunching ;-)
  2. Beer can also be directly linked to the teeth marks in your shoulder from where you tried to chew your own arm off attempting to get away quietly....
  3. 6 rapid reloads 5 kills for an airstrike 4 connection timeouts 3 coding Cobol?s 2 Kursing Krambo?s And Adders connections laggy
  4. Red Boat....Me Blue Boat....Everyone Else
  5. I dunno .... Big Red Rock Eater?? Please Kiwi after you as it was your answer that helped me so.... I insist. Cheers,
  6. There are six sides in a room. If four are bricked in and two of those are the ceiling/floor then there are two sides open....walk out of them... Okay try this in the abstract. Look in the mirror and see what you SAW Take what you SAW and cut the table in HALF Combine the two table HALVES into a Whole Take the phonetic 'hole' and climb thru it.. This is wrong on sooo many levels. Thanks for the hint Kiwi
  7. All I was referring to was a lighter than aircraft Maybe a small hot air ballon with lightweight reed basket would be more appropriate for these weights Just a goofy guess as passing through Cheers
  8. Well just to post why flashing BIOS can be a bad idea: 1) D/L New BIOS 2) Unzip 3) Copy to Floppy/USB Drive 4) ALT-F2 on POST 5) Select new .BIN file from EZ Flash Menu 6) Flash complete now restarting 7) Republic of Gamers Screen comes up....and hangs! 8) DEAD BOARD... I've done this procedure before with no issues. Not this time.... Only way to recover is to have a new EEPROM sent to you IF your board has it's chip in a socket and not soldered in.....want to guess what mine is.....soldered in. Aarrgghh!!
  9. Hey Medic cheer up and double that right from the jump.....double data rate fires on both edges of that base clock you're seeing so it's really performing at 532 Mhz. That's not very far back in time my friend so feel good. Peace
  10. Notice that was rendered at 8 seconds per frame ... Cool physics display but in game....I think not.......yet anyway!
  11. Thanks Kram, I just ran four instances of Orthos (Priority 1 Blend) for over 8 hours on a Q6600 at 3150 Mhz (1400 FSB) with zero errors so I'm happy now that this Quad running at the same speed as my previous Dual Core. It's the RAM that seems to be fighting me but I've been focused on the CPU and have not spent enough time on the RAM...yet. On my EVGA board with a dual core (E6600) at 3150 and RAM at 1145 (5-5-5-12-2T) I easily exceeded 10 GB/s on memory 'read' benchmarks wth Everest. If I could get the RAM up to the same speed it was on the EVGA board I'd be a happy camper. The Striker does not respond to changes in RAM voltage like the EVGA did...but then again the EVGA ate two sticks of OCZ Reaper (Micron) DDR2-1066 so keeping the voltage down (below 2.2) is a very, very good idea. Is your RAM at 800 Mhz Kram? Thanks again, typo edit
  12. Thank you Cy, I had an EVGA prior to the ASUS and they behave quite differently. Since by JEDEC standards the highest level of DDR2 is the 6400 (800 Mhz x 8 bit) anything rated faster must be overclocked to reach that performance level. JEDEC has allowed for this 'binning' in the DDR3 standard by having different classes at each level. For example DDR3-1600E will not O/C like DDR3-1600F/G/H but all will have absolute maximum DC voltages of <2V (1.975).....(re: JESD79-3A). Please be careful when raising RAM voltages on any 680i as it's a notorious destroyer of chips that are rated to take it. I've read in many places that strap jumping and finding the right ratios are more effective than raising the voltage for what it's worth. My rig is in a very tough place to get to for a CMOS reset which is the primary reason I'n proceeding so slowly plus I want this one to last a while. Thanks again for your input, Cheers edit for clarity/typo
  13. Okay play along for a bit. Say you made power supplies. When you test electronics some will fail, some may squeak by if you 'take liberties' with the spirit of the spec and check output power at the coolest end of the temperature range for example...and some will be rock steady stellar performers across the board. You sell these supplies under the 'Punisher' brand name. I approach you and want to sell some as 'X-Wind' brand. Which ones are you going to keep for the 'Punisher' brand and which ones will you let go to me?? See what I mean. The consumer says 'heck may as well by the X-Wind brand they're priced lower and are the same things anyway'....oh are they really? And that's just one oversimplified reason to avoid re-branding. There's enough information on various pages at the two links I put up previously to help you understand why you want to go with only the best power supply available. If you find some that compare (no single transformer designs) then please let us know. The image cycling above the page at the link you provided definitely shows a single transformer...multi-tap design.....run. I realize there are a lot of PSUs floating around....take your time and check them out as carefully as you would your GPU. Whichever way you choose to go I truly hope it goes perfectly and gives you years of trouble free operation. Peace Edit ps... Compare the inside of the PSUs you're considering to this: (edit to add photo)
  14. Thanks all I and others truly appreciate you guys taking the time to document your experiences. Any idea why ASUS pulled 1303 seeing as it's the BIOS of choice? Again....Thanks to all as this is will help a lot of people moving through these configurations and trying to decide how to spend their hard earned and, in the case of the U.S, seriously undervalued dollars. Peace
  15. One of the monitors I use has a HDMI input like the Samsung and this monitor won't sleep (go dark) after screen saver timeout or even PC standby/hibernate/power down. It goes to a BSOD color blank screen. My smaller monitor with DVI input sleeps well. I read somewhere it was a function of the HDMI to DVI interface but don't know if all monitors will react like this or not. Just thought I'd mention it as it's a bit of a pain to need to turn a monitor off every time I leave for a bit. Hopefully related and not too far off topic. Back to the point.... those are some fine looking displays. Peace
